I don't want to live in Mexico because it is a fucked up corrupt dystopian shithole. (The US did not make it that way, but let's be honest we really didn't HELP make it not.) The world is safer now than it was at any point under Obama. All of the shit that happened on Obama's watch because everyone knew he was a bitch-made and they could get away with it has largely cooled off. To be fair, the sinking of the Lustitania by a German U-boat was a driving force. It was pretty much a bunch of civilians getting killed as a result of the War. Seeing civilian deaths really gets to people. That’s why some people were in favor of invading Iraq and Afghanistan after 9/11. I’m not saying either were entirely justified, but it wasn’t just nothing that got people involved in those wars.

Lusitania didn't do anything to get us into WW1. Pissed people off, but Lusitania was carrying arms and most Americans chalked it up as people tempting fate and the US still refused to get directly involved, in favor of helping the Allied Powers financially via war loans and munition sales.

It was the Zimmerman Note that actually was the inciting incident that got us into the war. And even then, that was due to the Brits playing Wilson like a fiddle* to manipulate him into declaring war.

(*For those not aware, the Zimmerman note was intercepted documents that the Brits had obtained that Germany had sent Mexico, who at the time had several high profile border skirmishes with the US, to the point that Wilson had the bulk of the US army forces at the US/Mexican border. Germany was sick of America basically funding the entire Allied effort via loans, as the British and French forces were borrowing millions from the US to keep their governments afloat and keep the military afloat. To cut off the US money flow, Germany offered a deal with Mexico: basically invade the US and conquer the Southwest and keep America occupied so they couldn't send money to the Allied Powers, then have Germany basically back them up on the international stage as far as acknowledging them as rightful owners of any and all US states they conquer/reabsorb into Mexico. And if necessary, support them militarily, as the Germans felt if the US couldn't send the Brits/French any more money due to a Mexican invasion/war, that the Allied Powers would collapse or sue for peace, that would leave Germany victorious. Mexico turned them down, but the offer was left open by the Germans in the event Mexico ever changed their minds.

The British had the telegraphs, but purposely sat on them for a while due to Wilson cynically campaigning on a neutrality platform in 1916. Once Wilson was re-elected and enough time had passed, they dropped the documents into his lap and this would be the excuse Wilson needed to officially plunge the US into World War 1.

They are still acting like idpol is a winning strategy. This strategy only works to appease the Twitter spergs, but not the general population. IMO I imagine they're more pandering to the.....questionable idea that America will be "BROOOOOOWN and Spanish speaking by 2045" or whatever date makes it sound more impending. The census data for that is flawed as it assumes static trends for decades into the future and follows a strict definition of "white" while being broad with everything else, you can actually use the same logic to argue America is becoming "whiter". Not to mention any Elizabeth Warrens screwing up the accuracy of these predictions.
