Article Yaniv raided / arrested by RCMP

If we're super lucky, they already had a warrant of some sort for CP or some other actually serious thing, but weren't sure of their probable cause, or Canadian equivalent, to execute on it, but when people started calling in about the illegal weapon, that's so completely unambiguous that they knew it would be probable cause by itself, and maybe even obviate the need for a warrant at all (exigent circumstances in the U.S.).

So they decided to just go ahead and execute on what they already had and add the weapon thing.

It isn't as hard as you think to get a search warrant anyway. More judges than you'd think literally have stacks of already signed warrants just waiting to be filled out and even where that isn't the case, there's usually a judge of the court assigned for emergency calls outside of business hours if you need something done now. As long as the details aren't obviously insane they'll just grant it and hey, if it turns out improvidently granted, they'll sort it out in court later.

Thread theme song.

True but that mall ninja joy buzzer wouldn't get them his computer or other electronic devices.

Can confirm that they do this all the time. It's standard procedure; let the warrants pile up until something juicy comes along and then kick your door down. That's how they catch drug dealers and slap twelve charges on them immediately; they have some weak indications of trafficking so they start compiling a dossier, then they catch some tweaker peeling out the parking lot at 3 A.M. after a drug deal, put them in a room until they sing, get a warrant on THAT basis and send in the boys.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise to come to after work today lmao. Christ, what I would give to see a pic of Yaniv in cuffs, the memes and lulz would give me joy for months.

I do hope this ends in him (attempting) running away, not just because that would be fucking hilarious, but I would love to see how his faggy ass survives in a world without access to his precious HRT. The optimist in me says he would have public freakouts, but the pragmatist says he would drop the trans act.

Something is defiantly up beyond the tazer.

If cannuck warrants are anything like American ones, they wouldn't be able to "accidentially" stumble upon something like CP while looking for something like a taser. Warrants tend to be very specific about what is to be searched for and in what areas and with what methods. You need to really really fuck up to get a warrant equivalent of "torch the fucking place", Lie found with 200 kilos of coke in your trunk or heads in your freezer levels of fuck up. Unless he was also dumb enough to have the CP in plain sight, IE literally printed out or on the monitor for the cops to see.

In addition to what was posted on this page I wonder if they might not include electronics\computers in searches to establish from where he got the prohibited weapons. There's a lot of smuggling of stun guns from US stores using online pages. And searching for something like that on the computer is sort of like searching for a gram of cocaine in someone's house- evidence can be almost anywhere so you can search anywhere. And if you're looking for evidence of him buying prohibited weapons online and you happen across his browser history or a particular file folder, well, that's just too bad.

A ridiculous amount of drug traffickers here get caught because of motor vehicle offences.

Even the dumbasses who are holding drugs and don't buckle their seatbelts aren't as bad as Jonathan who waves his illegal shit all over the place and apparently brought some into a "court" setting. He's gonna keep escalating until he gets stopped.

I know the RCMP doesn't fuck around but I'm still feeling cynical about this whole thing. I'd like to think Yaniv will finally get whats coming to him but I'm not holding my breath. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst as the saying goes.

We may be shit but, like The Mounties 'we always get our man'

trying to hide powerlevel but, I've seen a lot of kicked doors some predawn swat warrants served in the states. There's an unspoken rule, the more money/time/officers you dump into a investigation, you had better come back with something to give to the DA, if you can't find anything take something small like MJ pipe turn it into a felony drug paraphanelia charge, find a cooking scale throw a trafficking charge on someone. Meanwhile in canuckistan If they are spending 14 hours in a single apt. I want to assume they are collecting hard drives/data, I can only speak for how its done in the states but, lets say they are looking for an ebay purchase reccord of aquiring the stun gun, and start looking at his search history, whoops whats this? "Loli"? now whatever could that mean? What I do know of when I was living in BC were rumors of the asian community having large collections of CP, and local and federal canadian LEO supposedly knew what to look for even back then. I'm going back a fucking decade here but IIRC grand theft auto and CP were the two biggest problems in BC. I'm hoping he gets reamed for owning CP, fuck the stun gun, thats so fagtastic that's illegal but, I don't give a fuck anything to get to the warrant HD/Data JY is a pedo fuck him. Hopefully they'll find something concrete with the underage solicitations he's pulled. Knowing him he's got it archived to fap over, weekly.

In the U.S., you can't do a search for one thing just as a pretext to go on a fishing expedition for looking for other things. However, if you have a warrant to search for weapons and in this case, evidence of a weapon that was brandished online using his computers, they can search his computers. They still can't in principle go on a general search for anything and everything, but in reality, once they have a warrant for computers and electronics, they tend to get thorough. If in the course of a legitimate search, they then encounter CP or some other contraband they weren't specifically looking for, that gives them probable cause to go looking for more.

In the U.S., if your initial search wouldn't have covered the search that uncovered the other contraband, you can't use that as evidence, under the "fruit of the poisonous tree" doctrine. I am not sure how Canada handles this, but probably in some similar way, although if anything, they probably have even less respect for your rights in such a search. That's just a guess, though.

I wouldn't anticipate them fucking up, though. If they find anything, it's probably legit, because they're acting like they're doing things seriously by the book to avoid such a fuckup, probably ironically thanks to Yaniv's own litigiousness. They're cutting out the local goofballs who have cucked out to him over and over and having it done by actually competent police.

True but that mall ninja joy buzzer wouldn't get them his computer or other electronic devices.

It would, though. 1) he used electronic devices and the internet to flash it online and 2) it's perfectly reasonable to search electronic devices to find out how he acquired it.

Even the dumbasses who are holding drugs and don't buckle their seatbelts aren't as bad as Jonathan who waves his illegal shit all over the place and apparently brought some into a "court" setting. He's gonna keep escalating until he gets stopped.

I dunno. This dumbass decided that driving past a police station while transporting 270kg of methamphetamine was a good idea. Shame about him getting distracted and crashing into 2 police cars.

Just two weeks ago a 15 year old girl went public aboot her encounters with Yaniv. She confirmed that she submitted a report to Cybertip and I'm thinking their might be others. The time frame fits, and it comes at a time when Yaniv is starting to be a national embarrassment.

Searching computers is a lot more difficult then just grabbing the laptops and external hard disks. When they busted Jared Fondle they found evidence on a thumb drive that he had hidden in the baseboards. A day long search makes me think that they are looking for something a lot smaller then a stun gun.

Oh, it's gone international now. And speaking of which, I'm archiving for evidence not for feels as to who's clicking on the links. We don't do "Rule 8" here.

@WGkitty it's been 25 hours. Did the cops leave? Take anything/anyone with them you observed?

ETA ETA ETA: YANIV HAS BEEN ARRESTED ACCORDING TO NATIONAL POST REPORTER.
. NP has excluded itself from archiving so here's the original: https://nationalpost.com/news/jessi...says-she-was-arrested-for-brandishing-a-taser

And a copypasta:

Jessica Yaniv, a transgender B.C. activist, says she was arrested for brandishing a Taser
'I have to carry pepper spray with me because people are so freaking violent over here,' Yaniv said during the debate

Jessica Yaniv, a transgender B.C. woman whose complaints over being refused intimate waxing services sparked wide controversy, was arrested Monday, apparently for brandishing a prohibited weapon during an online debate.

Yaniv said officers showed up at her apartment in Langley, B.C., shortly after the YouTube debate on transgender activism ended. The officers asked her about a stun gun, she said.

“About three minutes after (the broadcast ended), I have RCMP showing up at my door and putting me into cuffs saying I have a prohibited weapon,” she said in an interview.

She said that after her release from the holding cells and return to her apartment, she called the RCMP back Tuesday morning to report a child sexual exploitation photo that someone had sent her through Facebook messenger.

“It was a disturbing image,” Yaniv said. She urged the RCMP to return to her apartment to take her report and information about the message, she said.

The RCMP detachment in Langley confirmed an arrest and search of a home in the area but could not confirm specific details, charges, timelines or named individuals, said Cpl. Craig Van Herk.

He said the RCMP received information and based on it officers have “an open investigation, an active and ongoing investigation.”

Van Herk would not confirm or deny the charges or the circumstances behind them or what Yaniv said was the reason for the RCMP’s return to her apartment.

Neighbours of Yaniv confirmed seeing her being taken away in handcuffs Monday and Yaniv did appear that day, side-by-side in a YouTube conversation with Blaire White, a U.S.-based transgender woman whose videos often deal with transgender issues.

During the heated YouTube debate, viewed by the Post, White harshly criticized Yaniv’s tactics, actions and appearance and Yaniv said she faces harassment and threats because of the prominence of her trans activism.

“I have to carry pepper spray with me because people are so freaking violent over here,” Yaniv said during the debate.

She then stood up from her seat in front of her computer, rummaged around inside her apartment for a moment before returning.

“I should not have to literally have something like this,” she said. “I don’t need to be scared in my own house.” She then held up a stun gun and zapped it towards the camera, emitting a flash and a crackle.

“Which is illegal in Canada. Just sayin,” she added.

Conducted energy weapons, also known as stun guns or by the brand name Taser, as well as pepper spray are considered prohibited weapons in the hands of the public. She said officers took two stun guns, pepper spray and bear spray from her apartment.

Yaniv, however, said the charge is unfair because she has repeatedly told police about her stun guns and repellent sprays, saying they are for her personal protection.

She said that several times when the RCMP, which provides municipal policing in Langley, came to take her reports of harassment or threats, she warned them she had weapons in the home.

ARE YOU SEEING THIS FAM? Yaniv's telling a huge paper in Canada that he himself pointed them to CP that he himself admitted to receiving?? Ya IT Guru. With a 2015 timestamp. No wonder they spent all day in there!!

Realktalk, 14 hours of police on standby to me sounds like "We found a bit of something, and are trying to get a judge to sign off on searching for a lot of everything". If they had found something, they would have carted it away by now most likely, and they could quite easily have torn the place top to bottom in this time, it seems too long even for a possession of CP style offense. This sounds more like "We are working the judge, make sure they can't get in and take evidence out from under our nose before we have the rights to it"

Inb4 they just get him on a taser charge and it becomes a big nothingburger though.

Sending a dick pic to someone he knew was a minor would get a knock, at least. And at least in the US, they'll take your phone and computer for months and go through them with a doughnut in one hand and a covfefe in the other.

My money goes to him having a small mountain of personal effects taken off unsuspecting girls for years. Jackets taken off benches, shirts taken from locker rooms. Nothing obviously skeevy, but you need to make sure that no girls have gone missing wearing those clothes. There's no law against a troon buying kiddie clothes to jerk off on.

I initially thought the raid was connected to the taser, because of the time line, but now suspect that there may be a ...CP...angle to all of this. Horrible either way.

You know CP is so pervasive in BC the Surpreme Court of BC ruled you had a constitutional right to possess CP, which forced the Surpreme Court of Canada to step in and slap them down
