It's not necessarily a bad defense, but it's Shoe making it so it's very lacking. If anyone wants to make that argument, then bring examples that are similar to, in this case, American economy and society, and then explain how it can be adapted to your country, what stays and what does not. Saying "LOL, Canada has it, so we should too uwu" is not a good argument because, for what I know, Canada also has serious problems with their own healthcare.

Then again, it's not only Shoe making an argument like this. USA is very unique in many aspects, so the "everybody does it" excuse/explanation doesn't really apply here.
