If you're in disbelief of that, it'd blow your mind how many people are trying to eek out a living doing stupid shit on the con circuit in hopes of escaping their Walmart careers. But the goal of being a conwhore (instead of a camwhore) is you can build a brand that survives past your short "hot chick" shelf life. You can parlay history into "guest" status (with pay if you find enough rubes) and the best goal is to one day be the next Yaya Han and have a line of product selling at stores related to your cosplay. (That last is ridiculous for most conwhores since they just basically sell 8x10 glossies of their barely covered airbrushed bodies, but it's the dream for young cosplayers I expect)

The problem is that Denbow informed Vic that he had been terminated on 1/29/2019, which predates all but the initial Polygon article. The initial Polygon article (archive) doesn't even report any of the specific instances that would have been brought up in the FUNimation investigation either. Instead it links to PULL, the since deleted "vicmeggnognahorrorstories" tumblr, and several nobodies on Twitter.

Even if most of the original affidavit doesn't get thrown out, it's completely worthless in that it wouldn't stand up to any scrutiny under deposition or witness testimony during trial. FUNimation needs to settle and get out now while it's still cheap.

Wondering how much attention Funimation's counsel pays to these affidavits. He just handed Vic's lawyers a switchblade and showed them where to stick it.

Funimation seems to be a cesspit where they are all in bed with each other. Sabat does love taking new VA's under his slimy wing though and probably has them service him to get auditions. The worrying part is how many of them also seem to be in bed with costhots. Funimation,ANN and so on just seems to be full of old weebs who use their power to take advantage of other weebs.

You know I hate to say this, but honestly....before I can take Sabat doing that seriously, I would really like to see some of these VA's come out. I mean if they were blacklisted, they would not have much to lose after all. Do not get me wrong I sincerely hope Sabat has that kind of skeleton in his closet, but I just do not want to be too optimistic about this.

Saw it above and I hate to admit that while Vic has a strong backing and I mean it's really strong, it is not quite enough for these companies to fold over and hire Vic back immediately. Though RT is on their own as Vic isn't going to save them regardless of any decision. Funi is really dancing on the line by not settling and it really is advised just to settle on this matter before the clowns make them pay a lot more money. That money is coming but from whose pocket is the question.

From everything I've read, both here and abroad, RT is about to go under on their own accord. Sucks to be them, but then again, playing stupid games with your fans and finances means winning stupid prizes of being shit out of luck!

As for other VA studios, if the Plaintiff can get himself a win with this lawsuit, it may take them some time to realize that he was the actual victim. However when enough time has passed, and this whole mess simmers down some, they will eventually come to that conclusion, and offer an olive branch to come back to work with them.

As for Funi, the other Defendants, et al.: since the depositions, its been a revolving game of who's standing in front of the truck to get hit. It's clearly telling that the Defendant's are not acting on a united front, and that boys and girls, is what will cost them this lawsuit.

Take them down, take his damage money, and move on.

I believe that is the whole point of this lawsuit now. Remember, they were clearly discussing "bridge-burning" even in the depos, so yeah. Besides, IF Funi somehow survives all of this, that well will be well beyond poisoned for the Plaintiff to go work at again. Even just settling with him will in itself say the well is poisoned.

Has it been brought up that Sabat may be the driving force behind this coordinated fucking over of Vic's life? He's high up administratively at Funimation, isn't he? What if he promised Monica and Jamie more roles/money/things they want (including snack cakes and possibly an appointment with a master aesthetician who can un-fuck Monica's brows) if they helped him get rid of Vic?

I suspect that this will be brought up in the second round of litigation if there is one. A strategy such as this is to start at the bottom (the actual aggressors of the acts), then work your way up the chain of command (the enablers of the acts). Why do you think people keep asking "if Funi permitted this kind of behavior" or "was it standard operating procedure to have locks on the voice booths"? All those things go towards the management level of Funi (and possibly Sony).

Because those two chucklefucks have been told to be the sacrificial lambs by corporate would be my guess. That or they're that fucking stupid they thought both of them either showing how incompetent at their jobs they are, or how useless the whole company is that it wasn't able to lock this bullshit down the second it began to rumble despite there apparently being two people who oversee this bullshit.

The reality is, after all the stuff Nick and Ty was pointed out to them about the contract law they're desperately throwing out chaff because, really, the convention booking, the social media watching etc. They were employees more than they were independent contractors and likely wrangled as such. Barretto is supposed to watch the VA accounts so they don't spoil shit, or ya know, drag them into a lawsuit.

Basically he was supposed to sit there and eat his ethnic peace crisps while the VAs "cancel" Vic. He wasn't supposed to fight back, nor drag the whole sorry lot of them into the whole debacle.

I'm gonna be optimistic and say the ancient VAs like Kara Edwards, Monica Rial, and Jamie Marchi had significantly less succ to do than someone like Leah Clark.
