If you're in solitary and since it's jail and everything is being recorded it's one of the way to have everything act natural. Because a normal guard isn't going to know what a normal amount of medicine should be since they all work in shifts.

Just the fact that he refers to turtlesuits as a "white smock, a straight jacket", makes me call bullshit. The source might've known an inmate at a jail somewhere, but he was never personally locked down in tank.

Elavil has been & is probably the most common antidepressant in lockups nationwide; largely replacing buproprion (Wellbutrin/Zyban) after it was discovered that inmates were getting tweaked on it; buproprion was originally intended to be the replacement for amitriptyline

But there again, it'd take a severe lapse in monitoring by cadre & medical staff to not notice he'd been stashing his meds.... along with the fairly obvious signs of antidepressant overdose / serotonin syndrome.

COs themselves aren't involved with the meds beyond guarding the nurses & med carts, and watching inmates after being dosed to catch attempts at cheeking pills.

Hanging or strangulation causes similar, yet distinctly different mottling and/or edema. From what I've seen, the individual on the gurney appeared as they would, after being dead for at least a couple hours from suffocation or heart attack.

Prison inmates do a lot of the work that everyone else can't. They take the ones that are capable, like maybe are in there for something non-violent, and give them jobs within the prison. Back in the day (but I can't say for present-day), doctors don't give the lethal injection. It goes against their Oath. So a guard (or even an inmate) is in charge. Same with electric chair.

This is so patently optimistic, it's absurd.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that a non-violent prisoner trying to be good would be put into a cell across from a suicide risk so they could watch them too. Like they're still in prison, they're just in a cell across from them so they can see in and help keep an eye. If they are of help, they probably get some perks like commissary goods or extra alone time in the bathroom.

That's not how it works; either institutionally (for a lot of liability & budgetary reasons) or personally (politically) on the part of cadre or inmates.

Especially in segregated/observation tanks.

The ability for inmates to communicate by any means is universally & severely restricted; that means inmates can't see or hear each other directly, and any attempts at other means (tapping, latrine-calling, kiting) are intently watched for.
