I seem to recall Funi is or was still using Illich in productions.
Not Scott Freeman Freeman however.

Illich was married to former voice actress Kaytha Coker at one point too.

They never redubbed Freeman's roles, if that's what you mean. His ongoing characters were recast, but all the dubbing he did before then is still on Funimation's streaming service.

If they're willing to believe one story blindly and be wrong, how can they be trusted on the other stories which have massive holes in them?

-They (Monica, FunImation, Denbow, Ron, everyone there) knew that this was not about vic
-That anyone who could bother to read or look up sources KNEW it was not about Vic
-Still, decided to make it about Vic
-To destroy his life, job and repuation

Shitty people, through and through. Who needs enemies with friends like these.....

In other words: it strengthens the case for all of Vic's claims.
-TI (They knew it was not about him ,decided to make it about him, he lost jobs directly due to their interferance and twattering)
-Defamation (yeap, i mean, yeap. How is it now not painfully evident that this is just a shit storm they decided to make from nothing)

The "investigation" apparently started after becoming aware of the hanleia tweet. That linked an article that didn't mention him. Also hanleia is nuts so they allow the ramblings of a crazy person to determine their HR investigations.

Everyone else reenforcing this idea of him being creepy was just other VAs that also didn't read the article.

Well, I think it makes it harder for FUNimation to argue that they didn't have a wilful disregard for the truth, given that hanleias statement is given as the primary catalist for their dodgy investigation IN THEIR OWN AFFIDAVIT.

I'm no lawyer though. Nick will probably be able to shed some level light on the matter.

They use a list retrieved from PULL, and cite a PULL post from someone who would go on to say that they suffered traumatic brain injury. Of course, they cite from PULL multiple times, the fact that this list comes from PULL notwithstanding.

Not heavily distrusting this account and instead including it as evidence for an affirmative defense isn't-- as PULL would say-- "a good look". You might argue that there are plenty of other accounts and only one was knocked out-- well, ignoring that

• Edwards' and Reese's affidavits may as well be in ribbons at this point (surrounding evidence on their social media strongly suggests there were no issues with Vic at the alleged time),
• Rial
  1. named a fact witness to the alleged Izumicon incident that has no recollection of the incident and would have made different actions if he even merely knew about the alleged incident (and there's no present reason to believe otherwise), and
  2. lied about Vic being banned from Sentai property,
  3. was visibly friendly and touchy with her alleged almost rapist in the years following the alleged incident and probably days before the controversy picked up, given her tweet in response to Vic showing off some of the crew and her (wow, that still screws me up),
• the affidavits of Hunt, Falba, and Prager disagree on multiple details and conspicuously miss crucial details that they would have been privy to (there's no agreement on how many girls Vic was caught with, Hunt and Prager say he was head of security at a time when he was not with the former saying that he was head of security in '07, Prager acts in '10 for an incident that apparently happened in both '07 and '10),
• they can't even definitively demonstrate (and have avoided verifying that) Vic indeed worked with McConnell's school anywhere in the proximity of the alleged incident, an incident whose setup would be absolutely odd given that a school is more likely to not hire outside talent in setting up a school play, which would imply that they already have the necessary executives

as well as other incongruities between the times of the alleged incidents and the visible relationship status of Vic and multiple declarants in the days or years after these incidents (Rial, how have you been speaking up for years to no avail while being buddy-buddy with Vic for those same years?)... the presumed informant for the alleged ground zero of this controversy literally had brain damage and confused Vic for one of Monica's ex-boyfriends.

Depends on how they use it, and who they use it against.

It is most easily used to demonstrate a timeline in which clearly false reports that the victims knew, or should have known (cough, reckless disregard for the truth, cough) were being pushed online, and instead of either correcting them, or simply ignoring them altogether, MoRon and Co. supported Hanleia and added fuel to the fire.

Basically it’s used to establish the method by which the defendants treat the truth. It demonstrates their willingness to be reckless with what they consider true, and the lack of truth behind those making claims against Vic.

Hanlei accusation of vic being a known pedophile referenced a PULL post from a friend of her.
That person stated in her story that vic took a 16 year old to vegas to marry her. The person she is actually talking about is Illch Guardiolo.
Monica actually dated Guardiolo way back and the guy was also arrested for sexual assault. Also that person saying that story on pull admitted to having brain damage from an accident so her memory can be ''fuzzy''.

What it entails for the lawsuit itself. Funimation own affidavit says they became aware of Vic as result of Hanlei very own tweets.
What this could mean is that 1. They didnt investigate properly because its bullshit on PULL or 2. They didnt care about the Hanlea tweet and started their investigation because of someone else (hint: Monica).
This is all something we know of. It was already pretty clear that funimation didnt investigate shit properly and was ''pushed'' into an investigation by people in funimation but the hanlea story and tweet being a major point of Funi's defense make this as PULL would say, Not a good look for funimation.

Many people already answered but to add on a particularly important tidbit, one of the definitions of "actual malice" is reckless disregard for the truth, as in taking a story from someone with brain damage at face value when the story is the exact same story which fits your ex boyfriend.

This, taking this information in the best possible light for the defendants, in the worst possible light it proves or supports the claims of civil conspiracy, tortious interference and defamation.
