Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

When will we get good star wars video games again?

I have fond memories of Episode 1 Racer, Rogue Squadron Trilogy, Shadows of the Empire, KOTOR 1 and 2, and Jedi Outcast.

Fuck I even bought Super Bombad Racing because it was only a buck at gamestop, and that's far more tolerable over any of the nu-wars shit.
Rebel Assault 2 for the PS1 in its FMV glory is worth checking out. Star Wars: Dark Forces I and II for PC for serious old school FPS action.

And the video points out that Walmart has begun eliminating their SW toy sections. With that and Toys R Us gone, Disney just lost their biggest source of SW income.

What tard committed this hate crime against statistics. Area in charts is fishy in general but that's plain wrong.
Here, I made a better one, three seconds in matplotlib.

I mean, buying 20th Century Fox while in heavy debt and with several great financial risks in the pipeline is a galaxy brained take if I have ever seen one
And shit just got worse.
I guess Disney really did discipline Fox because now they've started canceling a shit ton of Fox film projects

So rumor has it that Disney is reviving the Obi Wan Kenobi project but its going to be a Disney+ exclusive and Ewan may either be starring in it or directing it (or both).
But take this with a big bucketful of salt since there's no solid way to verify this and the source is sketchy. Even if it is true, Kenobi will probably be just a bit-player in his own show, much like how Boba got cheated out of his own show by getting replaced with a random Mando OC "do not steal" who has his recycled helmet from a Chuck Wendig novel.

Rian Johnson is talking about his shitty films again.

Some talk about D&D's SW trilogy.

And a supposed new leak.

It pretty much says stuff I already covered before but differs in key areas, like claiming Naomi's character is from the jungle planet despite sources stating that she appears in the desert planet and that her primary mount is from the desert muslim planet. Unless the jungle planet and desert planet are one and the same. The only truly new thing he mentions that no other leak has is that Luke Skywalker's ghost resurrects Kylo Ren after he dies hence the whole "no one's ever really gone". But again, most of this leak sounds like bullshit since he's just taking shit we already knew and only adding one new thing which hasn't been said anywhere, and he's even using a fake fanmade poster for his OP. The only reason it might be worth posting is because it does a decent job of compiling actual leaks together in a believable order. But even the order is mostly speculation.

That looks like such a massive pile of shit. It's Twilight in Space! Quirky Mary Sues? How many? Let's see.
Rey, Jannah, Zorii, Rose(?), and probably Yellow Yoda and the Oracle as well. Boring and cringy love plot? Sure! Invalidation of previous works! Yep! Thing that was never mentioned or alluded to suddenly becoming important! Of course there is! Palpatine's back everyone! Clap as Ian McDiarmind is wheeled out for the last time!

I miss the Clone Wars. I really, really miss the Clone Wars. This post OT time period is just so fucking dull and repetitive and cant even hope to match the aesthetics of the GAR and the Seppies.
Part of the reason is because George had an incredibly creative team that helped him design some really new and interesting ships, planets, species, etc that still felt like Star Wars. The CIS designs were incredibly unique and unlike anything we'd ever seen. I remember the first time I saw the Lucrehulks in Phantom Menace, it blew my fucking mind. All the planets were new and interesting and were no longer beholden to "a place on Earth but an entire planet" which is how we got Kamino's sterilized enviornments, Coruscant's unique take on a planet wide city, Geonosis's red desert and hive architecture, Felucia's awesome and completely alien jungle and all of Mygeeto and Cato Neimoidia. Even the most derivative parts of the prequels look awesome, like the Venator and Clone armor. Despite the fact that they were supposed to be logical predecessors of Star Destroyers and stormtroopers, they still looked and acted unique, like the Venator's dual bridge design, its different role as a fleet carrier, and the Clones' customization of their armor. Despite their flaws the prequels widened the universe, rather than constrained it.

Despite Disney's insistence on getting away from the OT, the ST designs are bland as fuck and ape every single aspect of the Empire and Rebellion. The Empire used mostly the same ships in the old EU, but that's because they were dying. And they still used unique designs, like the Preybirds. The New Republic, on the other hand, moved away from relying solely on Mon Cal designs and that's where the New Class ships came in. Not all of them were great designs but at least they were different. The Empire of the Hand was incredibly unique, meanwhile, for coming from the same place as the First Order is. The Supremacy has to be one of the worst designs I've ever seen for a Star Wars supership, and that's including the Sun Crusher, Mandowank and the worst of the Old Old Republic designs. When they go all in on "make everything bigger!" instead of for important moments it loses its impact, and that's why no one remembers or cares about the Supremacy compared to the Super Star Destroyer.

Well, I'll always remember the Supremacy. Not for the 'Super Star Destroyer but even biggerer and WIDE' design, mind you, but for the complete BS ex machina pulled out of Rian Johnson's ass to destroy it.

Again, this is like an alien or skinwalker was working at Disney and coming up with the marketing campaign.
No human who's not a passionless pea-counter would assume that you can just take a beloved thing, smash it and then replace it with a half-assed rip-off, hoping for people to just go "I like the new thing now!"

They expected their audience to literally do this:

I am genuinely flabberghasted by this info and barely can believe it should be real. Everything somehow now falls into place, but it's beyond ridiculous.
How could anyone think this would work? How dumb did these people think their audiences are? No wonder they are mad.
Also: Top notch, they buy a franchise for 4bn dollar, but then cheap out on a few meager percent of their income that they don't wanna give to Lucas, so they take their golden goose behind the shed and beat it to death with a shovel to spite . . . Lucas, who's laughing all the way to the bank.

Also, the aforementioned spoilers that GeneralFriendliness posted are so bad that I hope they are true, though I miss the space anus and the shitty retcon that would delete the entire trilogy.
But I like the Kylo resurrection, that's so lame and pathetic. Like Lucasfilm doesn't even think their audience can handle a character death when it's their precious OC-Donut Steal.

Lucas is amazing at business. I wish he was as good at writing scripts as he is at nimbly navigating the business world.

Lucas would cram the Star Wars name onto almost any videogame, but made sure that the underlying game was decent. Even the stupid virtual fighter one - it wasn't amazing, and it made no sense, but it wasn't a hot bag of garbage. The pod racing sequence in Episode I was really, really dumb but the Pod Racing games were actually p. good.

Clone Wars was better than it should have been. Not just in style but bearing in mind it is a children's cartoon for children, it actually broached - briefly - some deeper topics like the morality of creating a clone army to die by the thousands.

I got twelve episodes mixed up with twelve seasons. I don't really follow Filoni Wars and I got a bit confused.
It's OK, fam -- it's an understandable mixup given the mess of SW that is Disney.

The funny thing is that for Disney being so steadfast that Clone Wars had to end abruptly after five seasons, they've certainly been all too eager to compromise with those fans shouting #FinishTheCloneWars on social media and give them The Lost Missions, some partially fiished animations, and now this batch of 12 episodes that I suspect will be largely Ahsoka-centric while being rewritten to be complaint with Disney canon in that another female character (Ahsoka) will now have a hot lesbian lover and the latter's sister as tag-alongs. almost makes me wonder if Clone wars was about to jump the shark had it not been canceled.

I also did the math and three years of Clone Wars divided over eight seasons of 20-22 episodes means each episode would have covered about one week's of real time. Small wonder some of the arcs were starting to get repetitive and stale near the end. it would have been better to keep the story focused on te more significant of events and behind the scenes going on so that the show wasn't as dragged out as was planned.

As much as Lucas had his flaws, he was very good with creativity, imagery, and other types of effects. The special effects in A New Hope were amazing despite the rudimentary technology at that time and huge cost. As technology improved and got cheaper, Lucas took full advantage. As a result we got to see the evolution of a sci-fi universe rich with various planets, flora, fauna, technology, and beings as @HeyYou pointed out. Even if Clone Wars was a bit drawn out, possibly due to Lucas' weaknesses in script writing, the evolving animation and world-building remained apparent up until the Disney acquisition.

Since then, the concept of creating, building, or developing anything has been scrapped as if the concept doesn't exist -- something that seems out of character for Disney given its past success with classic releases.
