Total speculation here but what sounds logical to me is this new therapist is real, and was maybe trying to convey to him what an important woman Taylor is and how bloody unlikely it is that she ever directly shat on him probably trying to get him to see some reason in this whole fantasy he's concocted in his whole head. Unless his therapist is highly skilled and experienced in dealing with such disorders, his sessions are going to be ineffective at best and might actually make him worse.

I think therapy is already making Russ worse. He's already using it in an attempt to bolster his claims and try to get people to believe that he is right and a victim, and as a away to avoid blame and accountability for his shitty behavior. He's using it to lie about his diagnosis and he's twisting what his therapist says to suit his narrative.

In order for Russ to actually benefit from therapy, he would need to first recognize and admit that he has serious mental and personality problems, and not the kind that make him look like an innocent victim. He would need to go a mental health professional and ask them to test him for Narcissistic Personality Disorder and other similar conditions. He would then need to seek treatment for what he's actually diagnosed with, and he would have to want to change and get better. But he won't, because that would he hurtful to his ego. It's much easier to use his therapy to try to back up his claims, play the victim, and claim that Taylor Swift gave him PTSD, despite the fact that no one believes him and his continual lies are only making him look like more of a shitty asshole than he already was.

It would be almost endearing if it weren't for everything else that's disturbing, troubling, awful, and disgusting about Russ. It also highlights just how clueless and unintelligent Russ is. I think another factor that makes it slightly less likely though is self-image. Russell’s is totally caught up in this idea of being a supreme gentleman with charm and class, and I think he would see violence as beneath that. He’s not quite like Chris whose whole self-image is an amalgamation of violent cartoons and animes.

Not like it hasn't been mentioned before, but Ricardo Lopez comes to mind.
