Infected RationalWiki - Whiny hugbox for spergs and a clusterfuck of neverending drama on a rapidly declining website.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Browsed rationalwiki on a whim today and found this in the Saloon. As the user predicted, everybody just screeched about concern trolling and said they weren't "fooled". ikanreed accused the individual of lying even though I did not see any of that. Then an admin declared this user was actually some troll named Dmorris .

:story:

That makes "autist" an amazing insult, since we can feel empathy and they can't.

I take encyclopedia dramatica more serious than these "intellectuals"

ED at least admits it's bullshit dunking on people just because it's funny.

There is barely any pretense of this out of RatWiki unless you go back to articles written (mostly by people long gone) about pseudoscience shit. Everything currently written there is irrational emotion-based SJW trash about things they're legit angry about.

ED is self aware on how stupid it sounds most of the times (its obviously intentional and meant to offend EVERYONE, even taking stabs at itself since its AWARE on how stupid its existence is). The RationalWiki should be renamed "neckbeard fedoras Inc", its a bunch of "intellectuals" that actually believe the garbage they are writing (and circle jerk each other while sniffing their own farts). It tries to be like ED a few times but always fails because, again, ED knows how stupid it is, the RationalWiki tries to make that seem smart (which ironically makes them dumber than ED).

SJW nonsense has infested that website. The only things I really like from RW are their older articles debunking big name conspiracy theories like chemtrails and anti-vaxxer claims. However, going back to the SJW sperging, they promote the Russia collusion conspiracy theory. So they disavow some conspiracies while actively promoting others.

Any wiki allowing Ryulong's presence is so far from Rational that Rational has filed a restraining order, and you will never get within 500 feet of her again.

Is gamergate what ruined ratwiki, or was that just an indication of how it had fallen?

Didn't they end up banning him?

Didn't they end up banning him?

On paper? Yes.

Unofficially, he still constant exerts control through a network of meat puppets, and he's been known to sneak in under socks to do edits. There are never any meaningful consequences for it happening. They just refuse to IP ban his ass.

Once a wikisperg, always a wikisperg.

Lol what is that idiot trying to do? Relive the glory days of pushing lies?

It's kind of hilarious they're still pushing Russia given how messily the Mueller Report died. It's almost like they are a bunch of conspiracy theorists who deserve articles mocking them on their own site.

Their was some sort of split with Rebecca Watson and elavatorgate which caused an sort of divide where proto-sjw's clashed with the fedora pose over wether being asked out for Coffee in a elevator by a neckbeard was a really bad thing or not. This then resulted in Atheism+ which was doomed to fail for fairly complex reasons, but it's pretty clear Rational wiki is full of people who can't wrap their mind round Gods existance and magic probably being bullshit being are seperate subjects from contempory 21st century politics.

A lot of sjw types find their origins from The fedora tippers I think it's mixture of going into freefall when you realize skydad is unlikely and their pathetic need to the iconaclast.

To understand this, you need to know how his mind works.

Most wikispergs do what they do out of a legitimate desire to inform. As such, most are, by and large, harmless. They get into Autistic levels of detail or add what they feel is important information, but there's almost never actual malice behind it.

Ryulong meanwhile is a territorial dipshit who does what he does specifically to push an agenda and always has one in mind. In the entire history of Wikipedia, it is genuinely hard to find a bigger power-tripping asshole than Ryulong. He sees everyone else as beneath him and constantly pushed to ban anyone who remotely offends him, often applying high-level sanctions for vandalism against first-time offenders, even if no vandalism was done. If he doesn't like you for some reason, he nominated anything you wrote for deletion. One of the most egregious was editing his opposition's profiles and scrubbing warnings they were given so they were easier to ban. This was when he wasn't flat-out banning people and locking their pages and talk pages so they had no ability to contact staff to contest it.

Basically, he considered himself the fucking king of the site, but this also ties into another behavior he expressed. Once he sets up on an article, he considers that article to be his, and once established, none may touch them unless they kiss his ass and push his talking points.

For the perfect microcosm of his behavior, you need look no further than his 4chan or Gamergate articles. In the former, anyone who dared portray 4chan as anything other than a hate site got reverted and edit warred into oblivion, and any attempt to update images for the 4chan page similarly got reverted. In the case of the latter, he was responsible for over 20% of all edits to the Gamergate article, and was later exposed to have been doing so on behalf of Crash Override Network. He is one of the biggest reasons that the Gamergate article on Wikipedia remains the shit-show it is, alongside dipshits like Mark Bernstein, continually doing mass edits and reverts to attempt to shut down anyone who adds facts that incriminate their side, and while both have been banned, they are seen edit-warring to push their angles constantly. Banning didn't stop him from continuing the assault; he did so via proxy warriors and under sock accounts.

It's not just corruption and autism you get with Ryulong, though; he has some outrageously funny tendencies that are common to other Wikispergs, made, impossibly, more hilarious by how shitty they are. He constantly defends weird fucking bad translations in Japanese shows as legitimate, often to the point that even the show's creator telling him to fuck off or legitimate Japanese people telling him he's a fucking Autist aren't enough to get him to stop.

In short: He camps articles once he decides they're his, believing that only he alone can decide what they say, facts be damned, constantly goes after people for tiny offenses, behaves like the Wikipedia version of Kim Jong-Il, constantly edits articles to insert his own talking points, and throws sperg-fits when people tell him no. It's only because Wikipedia's system was so easy to abuse - and the fact that he had friends in high places - that he lasted as long as he did, and now that he's banned, he's still waging these shithead assaults from off-site.

If you haven't seen our own @LordKaT's video on his idiocy on the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure wiki, do so; it's fucking amazing.

The tragedy of it all is that Rationalwiki is trying, in a few ways, to unfuck itself. Before you start laughing at this, know that they weren't always like they were now. There's users and even staff on the site that want it to be like it once was. Many feel this is a fool's errand, ultimately doomed to fail, because ultimately Rationalwiki is outright infested with Social Justice and anyone who edits on behalf of something the SocJus tards don't like (something that happened during RationalWiki trying to get GGers to edit the GG article into something resembling legitimacy) will face constant autistic shrieking and attacks. It's ultimately shoveling against the tide, and while I don't think it's impossible for Rationalwiki to eventually fix its shit, the fact that Ryulong was able to be a metastasized cancer for so long on the site despite his proven history of abuse and corruption going in is a fucking damning indictment. They need to scorched earth the problem sysops to even begin addressing the site's problems.

One of the funniest things is how completely angry he got about MLP shit on RatWiki. He had an almost Lee Goldson level of hatred for the show.

Ah, right, elevatorgate. Getting awkwardly asked out = rape.

And you make a good point that the mindset behind cold logical debates might not work perfectly when applied to politics which don't necessarily have clear and defined truths.

Still, it was ratwiki where I learned about a few scams, so it'll always hold a place in my heart, even if it's a deranged zombie now.

So, how bad will Rational Wiki's meltdown be if Trump gets re-elected in 2020? Or if Antifa ends up getting confirmed kills and public opinion fully turns against them?

I've been predicting that RW will either end up as the leftist equivalent of Metapedia or they will fully migrate to SJWiki and turn that into "Lefty Metapedia" instead.

Or maybe they keep their current status quo until the SJW zeitgeist fully dies out and then the new generation of RW staff changes course like the current SJW's did before them?

Assuming the current regime either migrates to SJWiki en masse or leaves RW behind to a new generation whenever the woke bubble pops, what will happen to Rational Wiki?

Rational Wiki is one of the more documented examples of the Left's shift from liberalism and free thought in the 2000's to intersectional identity politics and moral authoritarianism in the 2010's, but will it shift towards the next major leftist sociopolitical zeitgeist that follows after the SJW movement ends?

Or will it end up as a highly out-of-touch relic of the 2010's Left?

It's not entirely out of the question, given that their rival Conservapedia is still largely a time capsule of the 2000's Right with its general Neocon and Evangelical rhetoric.

However, Conservapedia is frozen in time largely because it's a ghost town consisting of Andrew Schafly and maybe a few deep-cover trolls from way back in the day.

Once Schafly dies, Conservapedia will either die with him and fade into obscurity or maybe get colonized by the Pepe crowd to become a parody of RationalWiki in an example of bizarre irony.

However, Rational Wiki doesn't really have a centralized figure in the same way Conservapedia does. Ryulong probably comes closest in terms of overall influence on the wiki's culture, but it's not the same as Andrew Schafly's position.

The 2020's are going to get interesting for the Left one way or the other, and Rational Wiki will be affected by it either way.
