They also love to use it as an excuse for their current abusive tendancies "oh honey you know I'm only like this because my ex used to not pick me up in the car, I didn't mean what I said about stabbing your friend in the heart if you weren't home by 8". Which of course drives the newly abused person to despise previous partners for causing this type of behaviour.

Men who abuse women serially don't tend to stop, either, and the way that domestic abuse works in reality is nothing like the way people are picturing in this thread. It isn't like Toye started the relationships with his ex wives by being some kind of belligerent threatening asshole, it escalated to that point over time after he made himself seem amazing and alienated the women from alternate sources of support. None of these guys are up front about what they are like.
Monica is in a fucked up situation. "He went to counseling" is her excuse for his past. Counseling doesn't make abusive men non abusive. Abusive relationship expert Lundy Bancroft explains in his book that therapy makes abusive men harder to treat, since it provides more justifications for their behavior and attitudes. Abusive men require abuser specific educational classes with accountability built in to the program. That is the only thing that has ever been shown to help, and it does not help the majority of abusive men because they do not want to change, they feel entitled to abusing women.
It may not be so much that monica thinks she is going to get physically hurt if she disobeys so much as he has made it clear that disagreeing with him on this topic (or failing to assist him in whatever way he requests) will be far more trouble than it is worth. Before things escalate to violence or threats, it is pretty common for this type of guy to threaten his own safety or to become a pathetic weeping mess in order to get their way. In normal relationships there may be a topic or two where one person gives the other person their way because it is a big deal to one partner and not the other, but with abusive partners they expand the territory of what is forbidden until nearly everything is a part of what she must defer to him about. Trying to get away from that results in escalating the threat of what will happen, and also usually a whole bunch of extremely potent romancing to make it hard to stay mad.
There is nothing about political leanings that predicts if a man will be an abusive spouse. Women need to be taught to trust their internal sense of safety with any given man more than any external indicator like politics. Most women who end up trapped with an abusive man are there because they ignored their gut feelings. The people in this thread saying that liberal guys are all abusers are just as unhelpful as people who say liberal guys aren't abusers. Lists of red flags are okay if they reflect reality, all this crap about how a man votes is not a predictor of spousal abuse.

Not to power level but in general restraining orders / orders of protection are pretty easy to get. The standard for granting them is significantly lower than for a criminal conviction.
I’ve seen many cases (especially custody issues) where the restraining order is sought to be used as a chip in custody hearings.
The veracity and validity of Toye’s ex-wife’s claims hinge on the surrounding facts and finding that came out during the divorce.
That being said, I can’t stop laughing that yet another male feminist is probably a wife-beating piece of shit.

I don't think Rial is innocent, she and the Funi clique jumped at the opportunity that came from KV to knife Vic. Most of this wasn't planned which is why their evidence is so shitty, Vic was just supposed to go away. I would like to see how much Soye helped with that jump and maybe it'll turn out to be less of a jump and more of a push.
That said, Rial should get out. We've seen how mad he was with Nick exposing their bullshit such as the jellbean story, we know how he needs to use
to keep his cool. We know lawsuits cause massive amounts of stress and so far he's been losing the court battles and social media narrative which likely increases it exponentially. How mad do you think he is now that he has been exposed as an abuser of women and trended #5 on twitter? If Monica hasn't copped a beating yet she might get one soon.
