Bear in mind that a lot of milkshakes you buy in the USA are made with bagged mïlk because it's cheaper. Since refrigeration costs a ton and you can just open a packet and get an instant milkshake out of a machine. One of the reasons why bagged mïlk is offered as an option to consumers is it takes a really long time to spoil so it's great if you only go to the store once every few months like some people up north do. (the best buy date for powdered mïlk is approximately 18 months. You can theoretically keep it indefinitely if you freeze it.)

The main reason it took off here was because it was cheaper to buy it bagged when they switched to the metric system and it just became a tradition, it's not a thing everywhere though like the West Coast it's really hard to find.

It's also because the packaging is cheaper and it ships a larger amount of cow juice in a smaller area. Also the reason for milk crates. Actually where the fuck do Americans get m.ilk crates from if they don't have bagged m.ilk? 🤔

So, it looks like someone in Canada has decided to pay out of pocket to advertise against mass migration:

And Canucks are mad about it:

I remember some family from the states came to visit. Making her coffee in the morning the relative couldn't find the m.ilk in the fridge. She was horrified when I showed her this:

I am surprised regional markets in the US, (like San Francisco), haven't taken this idea.
Ohhhh man sometimes I forget you guys have these! Part of my childhood I was raised in a country where these are standard. I remember the m.ilk tasting better that way, but I'm pretty sure it's just the nostalgia talking :)

This discussion reminds me of when I was in an IRC chat 20 something years ago during web 1.0. I told everyone BRB I need to run to the store for a bag of mil.k and all the Americans were confused as hell. Everyone was flabbergasted that we sold chocolate mil.k that way too, but most people I know only grab the 1 or 2 litre cartons if they're on sale.

I don't know what it's like where you are but where I am, it is literally cheaper to just buy the bags. For some reason, a carton with 2L in it costs the same as three bags with 4L. Probably a packaging cost thing but it goes to show how much cheaper it apparently is to have m.ilk in bags.

It's definitely cheaper by the bag. We just don't buy the chocolate by bag because we'll never go through 4L before it expires. Regular m.ilk absolutely because it gets used in coffee, tea, cereal and baking. I honestly can't remember the last time I bought a carton of regular m.ilk. On that note, goddamn is dairy in general getting expensive here.

I've lived in Toronto and Calgary in Canada, and NY in the US. I worked in Hamilton, ON years ago and have visited Montreal, Quebec City, and Ottawa on a few occassions. Canada's East-West divide is very much like the North-South Divide in the US, with the East being the north and the West being the south (except BC is Canada's California which is why JY gets away with it there). JY would be right at home in TO, but it wouldn't fly in Calgary at all, and Calgary is more liberal than Edmonton. They'd tear him to shreds in Edmonton.

I can't remember if I saw bagged milk in the 80s in BC, all we have here now is cartons and plastic 2L and 4L (gallon roughly) jugs. But I do remember seeing NOTHING but bagged milk in southern Ontario in the early and mid 2000s. I was like "where's the cartons?!" and it's like "There are no cartons! No jugs either!"

Southern Ontario has cartons but yeah, bags are most common. No jugs thought. Zero. Never seen em.

I've seen cartons in Toronto but not in Calgary. Then again, I wasn't the one really buying or drinking milk as I'm lactose intolerant . I'v only seen jugs in the US.

I love our word filter.

I've never seen jugs here, just bags and cartons. Some brands sell m.ilk in plastic bottles but it's only 1L or under. I've seen a few fancy "organic" expensive brands in glass bottles too.

I went down an accidental rabbit hole and found something interesting. Morgane Oger was pointing out the fact Vancouver Rape Relief discludes itself from government funding

A little backstory, Canada designated 3mil towards reducing gender based violence, and after some likely pressure (threats?) from Oger WAVAW recently became trans inclusive. Hes already pressured Vancouver Rape Relief to lose over 30k a year so why mention WAVAW?

If you notice WAVAWs project title for their funding is "meaningful inclusion", almost as if they were pressured by a man in a dress to sell out the safety of women to get those sweet sweet government bucks. Rent in vancouver is certainly not cheap and these guys have an odd obsession with promoting sex work. I can also see the correlation between either let me into your girly spaces or get your tent girls. Theres a housing crisis in Vancouver so theres likely many women staying in abusive relationships out of the simple fear of being homeless. Troons know this and are hoping they can pressure these rape into letting them in before or face shutting their doors.

I decided to look up the Minister for the Status of Women whos behind all this and it turns out shes a loudmouthed SJW that got demoted as punishment from another position for being obnoxious on twitter. By the sounds of how she got her position I doubt she gives two fucks what happens so long as it doesnt effect her and she gets a good pension. I wonder if she just takes advice from troons like Oger and lets them do whatever so long as she doesn't have to do anything.

An article about it from 2017 so shes been there for awhile.

Also her press secretary is the son of an MP and thats kind of lame that someone can get hired into a goverment position based on heritage and not skill. Maybe hes qualified but I dont know.

Edit: WAVAW used to be staunchy anti trans until PROJECT MEANINGFUL INCLUSION got them more funding than both Native organizations on the same list. Funny how that works, lets put reparations on hold too so we can shut these troons up.20190829_234441.jpg
