It's actually pretty amazing the complete lack of awareness this post has on the case. Nick was covering stuff separate from the lawsuit because because that info was dumped on his lap by others, i.e. Joseph and his Funi source. Nick usually takes weekends off and may have shit to do raising his family or simply wants a break from everything he has covered before we enter the final countdown to the TCPA hearings. When they happen, they absolutely will matter.
The casually stated assumption of the hearing dismissing the case for most targets being the probable outcome is also odd to read. One would think by this point that even those on the other side would have processed that the odds are very much against Monica, Jamie, Funi, and Sheepdog. Even though there is a chance always, the nonchalant assumption shows a gaping disconnect here in their info.
Finally, I must levy a criticism for our. I applaud the optimism of those who say that just by doing what he has that Vic has already saved his career or his reputation. That just by having the info out there he has in some way won. Allow me to disagree, every article written by people observing the case in any mainstream outlet has even recently being anti-Vic. Most "respectable" talking heads have come out against him. And those fighting for him are not exactly the most readily clean bunch. A drunken lawyer who can be dismissed in many's eyes with a single stupid #blackfacelawyer, a lawfirm that has worked for the NRA, grifting youtubers, and KiwiFarms. Meanwhile they have all the real institutional power, the (to normies) trustworthy sources, the aid of a pertinent cultural narrative, and despite how stupid the idea is, Vic is #stillfired. We may have facts, but even with how much they have been sullied, they still will be the default regardless simply because thats the society we live in, look at how quickly even supposidly rational people were swept up in the Kavanaugh nonsense. The guy in the medium article said he came to their side thanks to Douchette for Christ sake, even the constant dunking on him, while valid, will not refute them in the eyes of a die hard or a normie outsider, who would read the medium article and likely go with that.
As hard as it may be to achieve, the only real path back to meaningful and lasting normalcy and fixing the industry and culture will be a complete victory in the law courts. With Vic vindicated, and the fact that they all lied public for all to see, and for everyone involved to be beat over the head with a judgement. And even that may not be enough. The rot goes deep, the animation industry is situated in very liberal cities, so it may not be enough even if Funi goes down in flames. It may not be possible at all. But the idea that all it would take is just to put the facts out there to score a win is optimistic to the point of naivete, that people will just look at the facts and see the truth absent a legal ruling.
