Augustus probably is one of these people who froth at the mouth because the world doesn't work like it does in their fantasy life. He envisions himself as a great leader and commander who leads America back to freedom, manliness and heroism; meanwhile, the vast majority just sees him as a weirdo and edgelord. It is completely out of the question for him to adjust his aspi(e)rations to reality, reality instead has to adjust to him. Which it doesn't. So all that's left at the end of the day is Twitter rage and bursts of violence.

Indeed. This inflated image of himself coupled with the fact that he's got a documented history of physical abuse makes pretty clear that Augustus is the worst kind of pretender - a child who thinks he's the toughest of men (or, in terms he might understand, a beta cuck pretending to be an alpha).

He may spew nonsense, but I don't think he's going to go the route of Wohl. He'll be confined to petty squabbles and won't go anywhere if his stint in active Libertarian politics is any indication.

I stand in awe of a man who changes his name to"Augustus Sol Invictus", yammers on about his ancestry the way he does, and makes press releases for his family in this fashion.

What strange life events combine to lead a man down this path?

Did he play too much Crusader Kings 2 and the game fused with his autism resulting in this rare mutation? I'd bet that he's designed a coat of arms for himself unironically.

This man baffles me because on the one hand he's clearly in cloud cuckoo land and both his ideology and actions are completely divorced from reality, but on the other hand he looks fairly normal, was apparently a lawyer at one point and has a wife and kids. The most interesting cows to me are the ones like this guy who seem to be able to function normally but have all of the weirdness of someone who doesn't.
