Bit of a clarification since I made this mistake reading her post:

She was, according to her own words, sexually assaulted by someone else, who she did not name. That person went through therapy and they're the one Zoe made up with.

With Alec she never got any closure, hence the constant "waah I don't wanna go to GDC, it's too scary because I might see him." Alec, according to Zoe, made her feel even worse acting abusive when she was in a vulnerable state. The assaulter isn't named because she made up with him. Alec is named because Zoe never got closure with him.

I'll be fair and say that is stressful (as long as the accusation is true) but again, there are other avenues to dealing with this shit. Hell, if you get over a sexual assault with an apology, surely sharing the story in private with trusted people and a therapist would be a much healthier way to approach this issue if you've got the shakes.

Everyone was already prepared to kick Alec to the curb on her word, and doing it in public obviously doesn't help anyone, it just puts pressure on everyone to pick a side. Shitty fucking thing to do. Now I'm more interested to hear who the other soycuck was who supposedly assaulted her but who got away with it with an apology instead of a public crucifixion. Although maybe it's best to not hear another fucking name from her mouth ever again.

I suppose that is the lesson and silver lining in this story.

The person who apologized allowed everyone to move on. Alec, who refused to apologize got to learn from the experience.

I think there is a legal argument to be made there. Whether it's a criminal or civil matter is up to better minds than mine. Manson pretty well knew the murderers would do his bidding. Quinn may have just been hoping this guy would do what he did...without realizing the full, "friendly fire" implications of that when it actually happened.

Every single time someone's critical of Quinn's clique, they get DDoS'd. Like clockwork. It's so predictable you can set your watch to it, according to a few who covered Quinn in the past like Oliver. And while I would normally say that you should take anything from that sped with a grain of salt, fact is, we've seen Quinn's clique do this before. A fucking lot. It happened to David Pakman when he covered Brianna Wu, it happened to Hamblyburger Helper several times when he's covered some of her shitstorms, it happened to TFYC when they ran afoul of Quinn, and it happened to several other people critical of Quinn in the past.

Hell, Maya Kramer bragged about it when they did that to TFYC.

one thing about zoe's story (among many other things) that bugs me is that she forgives a supposed abuser after an apology, something extremely contrary to the way most people experience and cope with sexual assault and rape. some people never get over it, some people move on, but the overwhelming majority obviously cannot forgive something like that. that's the big thing that sticks out to me as her lying. no one who's gotten sexually assaulted is ready to fully forgive just because their abuser gave an apology, let alone a petty mean girl like zoe quinn.

Also I remembered a similar accusation a friend had: apparently according to an ex he dated on college he allegedly tried to have "non-consensual sex" with her and she didn't realize it until her closest friends told her she was "raped" just because he wanted to fuck and she didn't feel like it. Long story short, her pity story only worked partially as some of his friends from class canceled him and now he mostly hangs out with other fellas and still goes to class without any repercussions whatsoever.
