do they not realize how bad their outlook is on this?
not only can nick do all the legal work for himself without having to hire and pay an attorney, such a suit would also provide him with infinite content to cover on his live streams and videos, which generate tons of income for him.

so, unless they are 100% convinced that they will win in court and convince the judge to straigth up bankrupt nick, this would be a lose/lose move from them.

And he said it himself a lot of streams ago.

"Please don't throw me in the thorn bush!"
They're just all a man can want. If he is already married to a wonderful woman and has many children, the house, etc.

We have the 1st casting couch article

Funimation voice actor Chuck Huber has exposed extremely shady business practices that have allegedly been happening at the company

...how can he have exposed shady business practices that only allegedly occur?

News media...

I find this interesting.

My first idea is that everyone being sued right now, and even people not being currently sued, were all in on this. Funimation's implication that Vic was fired because of sexual misconduct would devastate his reputation, and Rial and Marchi's claims would amplify the damage. They wanted him ruined and cut off.

...so why didn't they salt the earth? Why didn't they not only ruin the chances of him getting work while simultaneously ruining his chances of con appearances, but also ensure that he wouldn't be able to associate with the IPs he voiced?

Between this oversight and the fact that he wasn't fired according to the contract they signed, as well as failure to even bother to contact alleged victims outside of Rial, it kind of seems as if they were in a hurry to fire him.

I think they were trying for a while. The io9 article (archive) actually references a previous investigation from last summer in the lead up to the Broly movie. The article states that there were two voice actors within FUNimation that started it. Since FUNimation wouldn't have told io9 about it, the only possible source could be the other people involved.

Previously I had speculated it was likely to be Rial and Sabat because that just made the most sense given what we already knew. However, after the affidavit from Chuck Huber, I'm almost certain that at least Sabat is involved, though the other could always be Schemmel.

The other piece of information that was provided is that FUNimation was considering providing him a position as director. Even more interesting is that they were still allegedly considering this after the summer 2018 investigation which must have turned up so much nothing that FUNimation would still consider going forward with Vic.

I think they all wanted to torpedo Vic for a long time and were in the process of making terrible gay little plans when happenstance in early January made them decide to go forward. Of course their plans are awful because they're idiots and so they've been scrambling all this while.

I think this will get much more interesting if FUNimation loses their TCPA. They'll certainly be looking to settle, but they also have to go through discovery and they will also be deposed. I expect that they're going to throw Sabat (and/or whoever else might have pressured them to go forward with this sham) completely under the bus if only to absolve themselves of bearing a majority of the liability for the damages and harm caused.

ANN is considerd the top news source on the Internet in the US of A. I mean, how can you be surprised that the anime news sector is considered garbage tier?
all these anime sites have somehow made me think of Digibro as the most neutral and fair anime news source
and they say gaming journalists are a joke, if that's the case the anime ones are a full on Monty Python skit.

Where are they going to sue Nick? Texas or Minnesota?
In Texas he's got BHBH and Anti-SLAPP statute.
In Minnesota, he's a licensed lawyer that can handle his own case. Opposing council would have to be brought in and I'm not sure they'd do it for free.

Would this be a lame attempt to depose Nick without having to go thru BHBH?
A fishing expedition to try and get anything they can use in Vic's case (Which I'm sure Chupp would not absolutely hammer them for)
Looking for any way to shut down the GFM? Maybe hoping if they make the GFM the center of a Federal Lawsuit that GoFundMe will shut down Vic's GFM as a reaction?

Low T and Skeeter are at heart SJWs and SJWs always go for the money in order to hurt you.

And it just suddenly hit me just now. That, of course, they viciously hit Vic. But from the very beginning they threw their own company under the bus. Because they are incredibly stupid. I. e. if no IStandWithVic would have appeared. If every single fan had believed everything that was said. Everybody would feel sorry for and cherish Monica, admire the heroic fiancé Ron and other brave voice actors. But Funimation and Sony would be in deep shit almost as much as they are in it now. So much for gratitude to their own company for giving them an interesting job for decades and making them famous.

I'm not so sure about this theory.
By this theory, the incidents of Scott Freeman and Illich Guardiola should have brought more eyes to what was going on at Funimation.
Perhaps its because they were not as well known as Vic that nothing happened, but still, a more critical eye should have been asking questions as to why there were two of Funimation's voice actors engaged with pedo related activities.

Can someone explain to me what Greg is trying to explain here?
All I'm getting is that because of anti slapp law Nick is going into federal court, but federal court doesn't have anti slapp law's.....
at least now they sorta have a basis to go off of now with him leaking audio, though its most likely they are just going to fuck around asking about the gofundme
If I'm not mistaken everything was allowed besides identifying information to party's that not involved in the lawsuit. Monica's side already breached that by filing nicks (old btw) information, they also forgot to redact other peoples information in 2 filings thus it wouldn't have mattered if Nick showed the audio or video. Also you can just file and pay for those things and if it was allowed during the court then it wouldn't matter, and considering Chupp already stated that

A part of me believes the pedo arc isn't over yet. There is probably more to be found in those offices, it could be CP. It could be legit shady behaviour at con.
Chris "Weebstein" Sabat was rumoured to have acted inapproproatly towards minors, and imagine how hushed down this would be due to his social standing within the cult.

Same people. They just pinball between jobs at 'news outlets', hang on the same forums and share the same 'journo-lists.'

The simple answer is because they're all incompetent. That is, they do not know what professionalism and business ethics are. This is confirmed by the affidavits of Chuck Huber and Vic. There is a small clique around Sabat and Real in the company. But Chris Sabat feels so comfortable and has been able to accumulate such influence, because it is a general principle of the company. See "Den of Poison," "Kafka Nightmare," and "Orwellian Slave Factory."
In other words, it is described as follows: there is no such thing as "company interests", there are only interests of certain groups and the struggle for influence. Game of thrones ) The company is nothing more than a tool.
