Horrorcow Zoe Quinn / Chelsea Van Valkenburg / Locke Valentine / @UnburntWitch / @Primeape / CrashOverride / Hat Box / Old Uncle Anime - Con Artist, Abuser, Sexual Harasser, Drove Alec Holowka to Suicide.

So essentially after he an hero'd the entire dev team has now broken up and nobody wants to associate with anyone?

And this bad relationship the dead guy had wasn't even recent but 8 years ago? Like the project lead should be pissed and anyone with brains and balls should have demanded physical evidence or a police report to back up these claims. And if they could not be provided there should have been some form of legal defense started to counter any false claims. I mean there's a ton of things they could have done to mitigate instead of destroying everything due to internet mobs.

Scott Benson posted another Thing about Alec.

One very interesting thing is how in the Zoepost how Chelsea probably talks shit about Alec with Eron. What if the shutdown and censorship of the post was not only meant to hide the fact that she was not the perfect uwu quirky dev she made her image to be about, but to hide that she wanted to ruin Alec's life?

I think people are being a bit too protective of Alex and blaming Zoe. Which, understandable, Zoe Quinn is a piece of shit.

But I had no doubts that Zoe wasn't completely full of shit when she came out with her statements, which Scott confirms. Alex was mentally unstable, no, he did not 'predict' his death, he was crazy and thought everyone was out to get him. Scott's account corroborates it. Heck, he probably saw this as confirmation bias for his delusions.

That said, while I'm sure Zoe's account wasn't 100% grade A bullshit, we know Zoe Quinn. She lied about her fuckin' mother on her book. She is a liar, a manipulator and someone who has made a career out of being a victim. She wasn't telling the whole story, for as much of a toxic boyfriend as Alex was, she was probably as bad as him. Of course, she'll leave her shit out of her account, because she's poor Zoe, always the victim.

The worst part about it is that we'll probably never hear Alex's version of the shit Zoe did to him. And even if he had released an statement, seeing how manipulative and unstable he was, he'd probably be as trustworthy as Zoe herself.

This Benson thing is long as fuck, but a brief skim makes it seem uncomfortably like it's a whooooole lot of shitting on Alex. (One of the first claims: Alex is the reason Benson has PTSD, which I find immediately suspect.) Why do that, one wonders, if not to provide an excuse for m'lady?

Teh Russians have picked up on this, and are on the anti-IdPol side.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand there is the opening for the martyr victim narrative

Russian troll farms, possibly on orders from the kremlin, are trying to discredit the left and thus sabotage the anti-drumpfff resistance by framing the bravest and speciallest and beautifullest champion of the left in the tech sphere, zoe qui...

A few things that stood out from Scott Benson's post:
It supports the narrative that Alec was mentally ill, that he was bad, but had gotten better ... except the twist at the end is that allegedly he hadn't gotten better, Alec had just started abusing other people, not Scott. And he had no idea until just these past few days.
Alec wasn't a broken stair, because apparently nobody ever talked about what he was like to other people. Ever. A broken stair requires you to be a well-known secret within the community; apparently everyone knew but nobody ever shared this information until last week.
The one time he was called out on his behaviour in the account, through Bethany's now-deleted passive-aggressive Twitter alt, he took what was said onboard and started working hard on his problems. To Scott, he was much, much better from then on. So maybe if people hadn't been so terrified of conflict or confrontation they could have resolved the problem, rather than letting it go for years and all the suffering that allegedly came with it.
Scott says at one point that he was still working 7-hour workdays from 2015, as if this is a massive undertaking rather than one hour less than most people do a day.
There's a little bit where he says that apparently women dating Alec were being asked to give something they weren't willing to, and it comes across as less 'Alec was an abusive boyfriend' and more 'Alec had girlfriends who expected to get into the gaming industry through him'.
There's also a bit where he makes note that Alec said that every woman he'd dated had been terrible, as a sort of 'if you run into assholes every day...' aside. Fun to remember that also appears to apply to Zoe Quinn as well.

It's all from Scott's perspective, which is fine and fair - wouldn't expect him to talk for anybody else. Except it does mean that, once again, we are left with not a single other name attached to a solid accusation. He says all these things that apparently he's just now been made aware of that Alec has been doing, before, during and after he was working with him. From his description, it sounds Alec came pretty close to a proper psychotic break during the making of NiTW - and I have no reason to disbelieve that.

It's the stuff after that I find thunkful. I said before I'm not sure how much we will be able to trust any accusations that come out after Alec's death, because he won't ever be able to refute even the most outlandish claims. So it sure would be nice, and will most likely never happen, if people who were to claim he was abusive were to be able to back it up with anything in the way of evidence. From the sounds of it, there should be copious amounts of it. Hell, Scott should have a whole lot, considering if his account is true that he and Alec would have long chatlogs over various media to show.

If you're going to the effort of making sure everyone knows the guy who just killed himself was a terrible person, you'd think you could at least provide receipts. We'll be waiting a while, though, I'm guessing.

I've been told the only family he had was his sister and came from an abusive home growing up.
Guy just seemed to have not been fast enough to keep up with the social justice crap because there was a part of him that knew it was bullshit but did not have anything else.
The people you are around, the family you have and the job you are so invested in is all part of this cult like behaviour what way out is there other than to be part of it.

Was the guy abusive to Zoe? probably in the same was she was abusive to him not the way she tells it but I doubt he stayed quiet while she yelled at him or used him, she a documented abuser after all.

His sister supported him by getting him up on the chair and settling the noose around his neck, if her twitter posts are legit.

personally I'd like to see something where Alec said he had information on Hillary Clinton before I decide either way

I posted that faked tweet already.

It's nothing but damage control. Even the biggest piece of shit will get a modest amount of respectful silence after kicking the bucket, provocateurs like Christopher Hitchens or Ted Rall aside. I suspect Benson wrote this while drenched with flop sweat, and with some sotto voce support (or more) from Zoe.

I don't want to powerlevel, but I have heard he was angry and shitty to work with, and the person I heard this from has nothing to do with Zoe as far as I know (they are infected with socjus though). If it was just Zoe's word I would have a much harder time believing it.

And it bears repeating lots of right-leaning people believed it too at first, it fit the narrative that "male feminists are rapists." Even though Zoe made the accusation. StoneTossComic.Jpeg.

She really, really fucked up though, because according to her own callout he'd self-harm to control her. She had to know this might happen but did it anyway because ErmaGerd, #MeToo 👏bandwagon 👏time 👏ya'll

Scott is back on Twitter.
"I'm angry we have to deal with this in public".
Tough luck, Scott, should've propably let Alec explain his possible side of the story. Also, if they were planning to make second game, even getting ready to start deving it, then why suddenly kick Alec out in drop of a hat?

I suspect Benson wrote this while drenched with flop sweat, and with some sotto voce support (or more) from Zoe.

Thing is, Benson's post doesn't have to have anything to do with Zoe - he could quite easily be just covering his own ass. Because after Zoe, the main people being blamed for Alec's death are him and Bethany and then the whole of cancel culture. Of course he wants to get his version out there, it's self-defense. Only thing being, we'll never hear Alec's side ... unless, again, if they release any of the receipts.

I do sympathise with the anger reaction, though. Feeling mad at someone who has killed themselves or tried to kill themselves is quite common, and while it's not helpful, I get it. In fact, because it's not helpful and you can't really justify being mad at someone who was clearly in such pain can make it worse, because you've got all this negative emotion you can't even justify directing at the person responsible.

Except, of course, some of these people feel entirely justified to hate on him, which is tasteless enough when it's the assholes at ResetEra, but it's a bit worse when it's people who have posthumously decided to declare him the devil.
