A transgender girl accused of assaulting two students at a Texas high school alleges that she was being bullied and was merely fighting back

Shocking video shows a student identified by police as Travez Perry violently punching, kicking and stomping on a girl in the hallway of Tomball High School.

The female student was transported to the hospital along with a male student, whom Perry allegedly kicked in the face and knocked unconscious.

According to the police report, Perry - who goes by 'Millie' - told officers that the victim has been bullying her and had posted a photo of her on social media with a negative comment.

One Tomball High School parent whose daughter knows Perry said that the 18-year-old had been the target of a death threat.

'From what my daughter has said that the girl that was the bully had posted a picture of Millie saying people like this should die,' the mother, who asked not to be identified by name, told DailyMail.com.

When Perry appeared in court on assault charges, her attorney told a judge that the teen has been undergoing a difficult transition from male to female and that: 'There's more to this story than meets the eye.'

Perry is currently out on bond, according to authorities.

The video of the altercation sparked a widespread debate on social media as some claim Perry was justified in standing up to her alleged bullies and others condemn her use of violence.

The mother who spoke with DailyMail.com has been one of Millie's most ardent defenders on Facebook.

'I do not condone violence at all. But situations like this show that people now a days, not just kids, think they can post what they want. Or say what they want without thinking of who they are hurting,' she said.

'Nobody knows what Millie has gone through, and this could have just been a final straw for her. That is all speculation of course because I don't personally know her or her family, but as a parent and someone who is part of the LGBTQ community this girl needs help and support, not grown men online talking about her private parts and shaming and mocking her.'

One Facebook commenter summed up the views of many, writing: 'This was brutal, and severe! I was bullied for years and never attacked anyone!'

Multiple commenters rejected the gender transition defense and classified the attack as a male senselessly beating a female.

One woman wrote on Facebook: 'This person will get off because they're transitioning. This is an animal. She kicked, and stomped, and beat...not okay. Bullying is not acceptable, but kicking someone in the head. Punishment doesn't fit the crime.'

We demand that the health care system stops experimenting with our children

We are parents of children and young people with sudden gender dysphoria. On Thursday, we will meet with Anna Starbrink (L), the Regional Health Council in Stockholm, to describe our children's meetings with care and to make demands on safe and knowledge-based care.

We are a growing group of parents with children who, in their teens, suddenly express a strong sense of having the “wrong” gender, so-called gender dysphoria. When we compare our experiences, we discover many similarities:

• None of the children have expressed any doubts about their gender identity in childhood.

• The vast majority are girls.

• For all children, gender dysphoria has come in close connection with other mental illnesses such as anxiety, trauma, depression or eating disorders.

• Many of the children have had difficulties with friends and group affiliation. Several have diagnoses in the autism spectrum.

• Everyone has read and interacted on trans issues in various online communities just before they expressed their gender dysphoria. Many have had friends who identify themselves as trans or nonbinary.

We want to support our children and young people in exploring their personality and finding their way of life - without being governed by gender roles and norms. But we are in despair that they are feeling unwell and feeling uncomfortable in their bodies. That is why we have turned to child and adolescent psychiatry (bup). What we have experienced has frightened us.

Health care treats gender dysphoria among young people in a completely different way than other psychiatric diagnoses. If a young person suffers from eating disorders, self-harm behavior or anxiety, the treatment is to explore, understand and change thoughts and feelings. But when a child expresses gender dysphoria, the first measure of care is instead to confirm the distance from one's own body. Then follows a rapid investigation of medical interventions. This is called "affirmative response".

Mental illness is expressed and interpreted in various ways over time. For a few years now, a simple explanation and solution is available for children and young people:

• Your anxiety may be because you were born in the wrong body.

• If you undergo a gender correction, you will be lucky.

There is reason to believe that the rapid rise of young people with gender dysphoria is largely related to this spirit of the times. Fragile, identity-seeking young people are extra vulnerable.

Of course, this connection does not matter to our children. What they experience is real for everyone. Many people are convinced that surgery and hormone therapy are the only option. But we adults must be able to see the whole, while respecting their thoughts and feelings. It is our responsibility to protect our children from surgical and medical interventions that they may regret in adulthood.

Many of them have other difficulties with which they need help. How should a 14-year-old girl with autism be able to decide on her future fertility? How can an 18-year-old after years of eating disorders make decisions based on their feelings of anxiety in front of their own body? How can a 15-year-old with anxiety and depression understand the lifelong effects of hormone therapy?

When parents hesitate about irreversible interventions on our children, there are sometimes reports of concern to the social service. Children have been taken care of, and interventions have been made against the will of parents.

Our children are part of a group called ROGD - Rapid onset gender dysphoria. Throughout the western world, this group has increased in avalanches in just a few years. An overwhelming majority are girls, but there are more and more boys. In Stockholm, around 400 children are investigated and treated, and many more are in line - previously there were single children annually. As the development is so rapid, research on this group is still lacking.

Therefore, there is no evidence that prompt medical treatment is better than call support. There is no evidence that affirmative treatment is better for children than exploration. And there is also no research showing that young people in this group are at greater risk of suicide than others with mental illness. On the contrary, research has unequivocally shown that suicide risk does not decrease after gender correction. Despite this, we parents often hear from the care that the risk of suicide is so great that medical treatment is considered life-saving. It is an effective threat, which every parent can probably imagine.

The treatment of our children is done today without any basis in research. Such medical treatment is usually called experiment. Historically, there are many similar examples that we should have learned from. Women with "hysteria" have previously had the uterus removed. Anxiety has been treated with lobotomy. The experiments have often been carried out on already fragile patient groups and strikingly often it is women's bodies that need to be corrected.

• We parents now demand that care stop experimenting with our children. Both transgender people and young people with mental illness have the right to safe and knowledge-based care.

• We require healthcare based on research and evidence. All treatment, investigation and care shall be based on research and proven experience.

– Pending research support, care of children and adolescents with gender dysphoria should be characterized by caution. The first alternative to gender dysphoria is to be talk therapy.

• See the child in all its context: in the family, at school and with friends. Open to various explanations that children do not feel completely at home in their body during adolescence. Follow how the symptoms develop over time and are related to other difficulties.

• Respect the sterilization law limit of 25 years for interventions that cause sterility.

• Stop all medical and surgical treatment immediately at the Kid team (bup team for gender identity studies in Stockholm). Do a complete review of the clinic's activities and follow up on all children and young people treated there. Move diagnostics and investigation to regular bup clinics where treating doctors can take overall responsibility.

It is urgent. Hundreds of children queue up for the Kid team. Based on our experience, many of them do not receive adequate support during the waiting period. Many, like many children in our group, will surely recover from their gender dysphoria on their own. But in most families, the stress and anxiety will grow.

The number of detractors - transgender people returning to their birth sex - is now increasing rapidly. Among those who just changed their names and clothes, many can move on in life an experience richer. But after hormonal and perhaps surgical treatment, the body is forever changed, and the journey on can be difficult. If nothing is done urgently, many young people will be exposed to unnecessary suffering and lifelong medical risks.

Healthcare's unilateral focus on hormones and surgery also means that other forms of support are prioritized. We want care and care for our children's suffering now - not a long queue and wait for surgical and medical experiments.

Edit: I don't know how I missed this, but apparently a trans organization called "Transammans" (Transtogether) are organizing a trans sleep away camp for children in August-October this year. This is the fifth year in a row they're doing it and they got more money than usual this year since they're expanding to southern Sweden. Last but not least, they have an upper age limit set to twelve years old, meaning that they're seeking to indoctrinate primary schoolers or children who are even younger. First trans sleep away camp for children in southern Sweden: "Huge interest"

For the first time this weekend, a trans sleep away camp for children in southern Sweden is being organized. The camp is an opportunity for children who are thinking about gender identity to meet others and talk.
Transkollo is organized by the TransAm Association for transgender persons and related parties. This is the fifth trans sleep away camp to be held, but the first in southern Sweden. New for this year is also that it has introduced an upper age limit - so you only apply to children up to 12 years.

All children who come will also be allowed to bring an adult relative.

Responsible for Transkollo is Jacko Nilsson, and they say that the interest in participating is great.

- It's always a huge interest. We have 20 seats per group, but there are always more people who want to join. We have been told no to about ten people in Växjö, says Jacko Nilsson.

Workshops and play
During the three days that the trans sleep away camp is in progress, the children can listen to lectures and attend workshops on trans, but of course it will be a lot of play.

In order to be able to run its package, TransAmam is completely dependent on different types of contributions. And this year they have received more money than usual, says Jacko Nilsson. Therefore, this year they can run three camps during the months of August, September and October. The first is thus held in the Växjö district, then you continue to Västerås and end in Umeå.
