What I find most fascinating about her is the way pretty much every aspect of her life and writing is theoretically for and about women but is completly irrelevant unless you're a upper-middle class woman in your late 20's/early 30's with no kids from a major UK urban centre.

So I just read Scott's statement about Alec and it's mostly infuriating. The lack of loyalty to a man who dragged you from obscurity to create a popular, successful game; even creating tools for a novice so you can actively participate in the development of Night in the Woods, is quite incredible.

Alec was no angel and he was hard to work with. I would be to if I had to do the heavy lifting for a majority of the time for the entirety of Night in the Woods; if I were in Scott's shoes, I would've not said a fucking word. To think that Scott sided not just any random wahman, making accusations, Scott sided with Zoe Quinn; one of the biggest liar cunts that has ever existed; the whore of Babylon goes green with envy. Not ONE mention of her in that pile of tripe. This is so fucked up.

I've got so much to talk about from this but I don't know how to properly convey it. His cognitive distortions were correct and he was surrounded by arseholes, even including his cunt sister, rewriting events to illicit a sympathetic tone and to show that Alec was such a mess, that Scott was "abused" by him and he has PTSD from working with him.

If you are reading this Scott and Bethany; I just want to let you know something.

You both were nothing before Alec and you will be nothing after Alec.

There is a good reason why the deepest circle of Hell is only for betrayers; I hope you enjoy Cocytus, you useless sacks of meat because you deserve to be tormented for the rest of your natural life by the guilt of what you did. To even go as far as to remove his name from the credits of the game that HE made is so sickening and wrong; I don't even know what to say anymore.

(sorry, there's so many pages and I have read a lot but not all so most of this might have been touched upon already)

For some it only takes a nudge to drive them to suicide, they're in a deep dark place already. For others it takes a push, something that shakes their everyday life. But Chelsea dug her heels in and turned push into shove, she shook his entire world and I'm sure that she knew that her orbiters and the gaming press would demonize him, that he would get swiftly and publicly kicked out of his company(how could they let him stay?) and that he would be avoided and shunned from the indie scene and everyone frequenting it. When that Scott guy kicked him out in the way he did I almost made a serious-post about how Alec might just kill himself, it felt like a very dangerous situation. (untapped galaxy brain here)
It's not like he could get a job at EA or something, they wouldn't want to deal with that, he was done in games.
That he actually killed himself might have been a bit of a surprise among those that frequently suicide bait themselves but utterly destroying him WAS the goal. Why else make it so big and so public?

I can also believe that he was a self-centered drama dick(McMillen said it) but the thing about those is that they tend to congregate together over time and feed off of each other. After a while normal people don't want to get sucked further into their bullshit so most walk away. That Scott guy, drama dick, Zoe Quinn, massive drama dick, most of everyone else that threw their hat into the ring is probably like that as well.

There's three other things I want to mention.

His sister said that he had improved and became better, happier and more stable over the last couple of years, while shitting on him at the same time, so in a way he would have been the furthest in years from actually killing himself going into last week.

"leading me with fingers my holes" - if anything that would be leading her by the nose, if made specific yet unspecific like that it is truth yet becomes violently dramatic and sexually abusive in the mind of the reader, nose is also the only feasible thing.

When other people reacted and supported Zoe there was one thing they all seemed to have in common. They wrote that they recognized and had experienced some of that behavior(the common thing is suicide baiting to emotionally manipulate those around him) but they, including that woman who had been with him for years, also mention that the other things were surprising or shocking. It seems like Zoe was the only one to experience the truly outrageous behavior during her two week stay with him.


But pointing fingers is bad, he had poor mental health so suicide was likely. I just hope that if someone like Sargon one day runs up and punches Zoe in the mouth we won't blame him, her getting it in the kisser was bound to happen one day or another.
I don't actually think that anyone should punch her, I'm not angry just increasingly disappointed and it's just a ridiculous spin on the ridiculous no-responsibility angle they're going for

Most of these "game developers" are barely programmers to begin with considering the modern tools. It's nothing like it was 20 or even 10 years ago at all. The bar of entry is very, very low. Else all these people also probably wouldn't exist. Be somewhat competent at computer science and walk into any random gamedev forum and gawk at how little these people know about anything re: computers. (and programming/mathematics/etc..)

The whole of game development turned into a big social circlejerk where it doesn't matter what you can do as much as it matters whom you know. They're creating their own, woke version of hollyweird.

Oh for sure. Just look at game development books from 15-20 years ago compared to today. Older books like the Tricks of the Game Programming Gurus series would tell you how to write an engine with numerous books existing for other libraries like SDL, later books focused on using frameworks like XNA, and now YouTube tutorials can show you how to use Unity or a similar game engine to make a game without knowing jack shit about programming (depending on the engine). At the same time the push for indie gaming has caused other barriers to vanish like the publisher one. Now you can self publish a game on the mainstream platforms easily.

Programming skills are far from the only thing talentless indie gamedevs lack however. Many of them lack game design skills and would rather design a mediocre clone of a retro game or a walking simulator. Here's a good quote from one of those 2000s era game design and development books that summarizes the whole FMV game craze (that could also apply to walking sims and other shitty "art" games):

I should probably thank Zoe in some sense. I was tinkering with idea of making a small game just to see how my skills translate into gamedev. But then I was brutally reminded that indie gamedev is just full of incestuous rape and if I'll every sit down to it I should stay away from the cancer hive. It only costed one man's life.

Don't see why you shouldn't give it a try. Even if you don't actually finish the game, it'll still be a great learning experience as even if you've programmed before, making a game requires a different set of skills and considerations you pay no mind to with regular programs (for example, I don't need to think about an accounting tool being "fun"). Just steer clear from the Woke(TM) indie game dev scene and you're golden. I'm sure whatever you make would be more of a game than Depression Quest, anyhow.

Imagine being in that position. Not only are you being cheated out of what you're due from the profits of the game; you are effectively excised from the game that YOU created because someone from your past, decided that they were vaguely raped. Your greatest work, ripped from you by the people that you brought up with you, the level of betrayal for this to happen is horrendous from so-called mental health advocates, where mental health apparently is what the game was about.

For people to know what he was like back in his worst moments, to bring all this alleged shit that may or may not have happened because who can really say? The one thing that really struck me when I read that bilge from Scott was this quote:
