THIS is the reason piracy exists- And I strongly advocate for it in situations like this. Scott and his tubbalove need to not profit from the work of a dead man that they certainly didn't help to get any better. (side note on scott- never seen such a perfect example of self love as fucking some fatty that looks EXACTLY like you- its like masturbation with company) On Alec I have no feelings one way or the other past a low grade anger at the utter hypocrisy of all the shitheels involved- but I knew what I was getting when I bought my ticket to ride this train.

The paradox of dealing with Zoe Quinn is if you engage, she cries victimhood and profits from it. If you don't engage, she claims victory and profits from it. She knows EXACTLY how the game is played and for some reason still has an ungodly huge amount of reach and influence. She even screwed over an entire legion of troons who she tricked into running her CON and writing her book for her, and somehow said troons were completely and utterly silenced, despite objectively being the king of the oppression pyramid.

By avoiding the indie games scene just to avoid people like her you are ceding the indie games scene to her and her ilk. One of the GamerGate ops early on, before things were fractured by the 3 factions, the "fuck actually giving a shit about things" trolls on 8ch, etc etc, was Solution6Months.

It takes 6 months to learn gamedev. ANY of us can do a better fucking game than "Depression Quest." If enough of us did so, in a year or two we could simply push the Zoe Quinns and the Scott Bensons of the industry out. No one's going to buy a shitty "11 out of 10, has faggots, buy it or it's a hate crime, cismale" walking simulator if there are 5 decent enough 2D platformers without political bullshit and a few JRPGs that don't suck to buy instead.

I guess what I'm trying to say is fuck abandoning an entire industry because it's cancerous. Elbow your way in and ignore them to death. Throw sand in the hugbox.

Alternately, tale solace in the fact that eventually one of these Eron Gjonis and Alec Holowkas of the world are going to reach that low point in their lives and decide instead of killing themselves, they're going to take a few tidy bowl dykes that ruined them out with them.

And Zoe Quinn seems to like to roll those odds more than a Japanese NEET chasing a Gacha with his favorite waifu in it.

I just love how people are saying that Zoe had no control over Alec’s alleged “actions”, yet his actions were acceptable in prompting her to do what she did, despite him improving himself over the years.

I just wanna point out that "hard to work with" is something people who never do any real work say.
For anyone here who isn't a NEET, at least half of all people you ever work with will be hard to work with. At least 1 in 5 will be an asshole, and 1 in 10 might end up being a personal enemy depending on what you do. Like if you do any work at all with clients, you're going to have at least a few stories of wretchedness and insanity after awhile.

So yeah, "he was hard to work with, he was mean to me." Blow me. No professional says that. In fact I'd say over time, being a mean asshole doesn't even show up on your radar, the only thing that matters is if someone is competent and not a rapist. All that matters is if someone is good at what they do, and I guess whether or not they are gossips that sow discord from within (women.)

Also, depending on cultural differences, upbringings, personalities and a dozen other factors, you may be the asshole someone thinks they can't work with. It's something that doesn't even mean anything because at the end of the day the work needs to get done so you shut up and deal and leave it at the office so you don't throw your cat against the wall when you get home. That's what adults do. "I have to deal with a dickhead" is fucking de rigeur for millions of people every day and the vast, vast majority build a bridge and get over it because they're not sociopaths and they need to put food on the table.

You think the sewage treatment plants or garbage collection would still happen if every person had to have a breakdown whenever someone they worked with told them to fuck off? Thank God fields that need competent people for society to function largely still screens these jellyfish out.

Back to the earlier point someone made, this is precisely what happens with "idea guys," or people who don't really have much to do so they take it extremely seriously when someone pushes back on what little they bring to the table. These people tend to be creative types. And I say "creative types" carefully, because they are usually not creative at all. Even worse, they read books on creativity, and some up with all sorts of systems and processes to inspire creativity without ever fucking doing anything.
I want to hurl hundreds of swords at them.

I look at these 2 people in question, the ones so fat they become androgynous, and I can just tell they're "narrative designers" or "innovation evangelists."
