One thing is for sure: This practice of ruining peoples lives via twitter needs to end. I was hoping this case would finally be the vehicle to challenge this nonsense and give plaintiffs the means to hold twitter morons accountable, but that outcome is seeming less and less likely every day. Supreme Court Justice Thomas made a comment about revisiting Ny. Times v. Sullivan the other day and I couldn't agree more with his sentiments. The founders never intended for the first amendment to be a high bar against prevailing against people who have tortiously ruing your reputation. That is simply a sentiment SCOTUS concocted out of thin air.God the amount of "H-HOW COULD T-THIS HAVE HAP-HAPPENED!!! TY WAS SUPPOSE TO PUNISH THEM!! REEEE" on Twitter is fantastic. I haven't laughed this hard in awhile.
On a real note, I hope to God they do not dismiss everything because it'd be such a blow to our civil system that people would just lose faith in it and take more autistic matters into their hands. Last thing we need is some sped showing up to Sabats house to introduce some justice because a Judge didn't do his due diligence on this. I wouldn't put it past the hardcore people involved in the weeb wars to not do something like that fyi.
