Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

No diggity no doubt. Gotta wrap that shit up.

Tweep and Vader are just used to figure out the current mood based on recent Tweets. It's not a big lift to get a near real time report rolling.

Jstylo (or a similar tool) is used to perform adversarial analysis, figure out the person most likely behind a piece of text.

You would use the two in a stack to normalize sentiment analysis. You want to find the accounts that are posting 200 times an hour to make one side look better and see if you can track it back to a specific person via stylographic indicators.

It's poo free UNTIL THE POINT someone crosses a line and goes after the trolls. A small amount of research on my part indicated there are fake Twitter accounts posting kickvic shit and it looks like everything comes from a single author. Which probably means Funimation's marketing agency.
What a plot twist it would be if Funi has been stiring the shit storm with a black pr firm or worse inhouse pr attempting to.

Crystal clear

I had a homebrew for IE on jaw through lingpipe and limited access to Radian6 years ago. That Gen Fukunaga pattern ... a hint would be nice
Radian6 is dumb and probably the source of Funimation's current dilemmas.

The moment you find out a brand uses it for social media monitoring, go on 10 forum sites and post shit about the brand. Then tweet about those posts and keep doing it for a couple days. You will be able to watch their Twitter feed adjust to the new message. If it doesn't, increase the volume.

Radian6 works like a reverse firehose, it sucks everything in, gives extra weight to social signals, and over-emphasizes negative sentiment because brands are paranoid. It does try to weed out duplicates but does a terrible job - you can switch vowels for numbers and it will injest them and switch them back when doing analysis. I swear some companies are using it to figure out how shitty to treat guys like Vic based on garbage data from Radian6.

The fact companies don't understand how it works is one of the biggest problems in AI, it's way too easy for a bad actor to poison the results. There's no machine learning algorithm for detecting gay ops and the strategy has been to ignore the source - which is bad because new sources are always coming and are rarely purely toxic. The models become very distorted.

As for Gen, I just Googled for articles, blog posts and video transcripts to generate training text and compared sock puppet Tweets. I don't like to point fingers without a stone cold match, but someone with similar stylographic patterns likes to post things at night.

I'm pretty sure Chupp will take his time unless Lemonhead pulls a gayops
Well, if Chupp rules on Ty's motion from last night and throws out the amendments, some of the defendants do not have an affirmative defense.

Would want to know that right away. That's reverse summary judgement.

From Scott Barretto's affidavit:

They've testified under oath that they use Radian6 to monitor social media.

I'm gonna unlock this, but please continue to keep discussion of today's hearing in the other thread.

Starting to say. The Appeal will be the best part.

Also when will you unlock the Lawsuit thread?

Are there any conventions happening in Manchester, England during December?
Todd Haberkorn's schedule says he'll be in the area during that time so I am curious:
[archive.fo won't archive this]

Then again, the page might be out of date as this site listed that his recently attended convention was Fan Expo Boston 2019:
And both sites indicated he would be in Boston in August.

Thats it going back to agnostic
It's more so the morale is wounded a little. There were always going to be ups and downs. It doesn't help with the spergs and exceptional idiots rubbing salt in the wounds... anyways this is more or less a war, there will be wins and losses of battles, but none of those matter ultimately, if you win the war in the end.
