But I know for a fact that this isn't true. I've seen many cases where women actually cry for their abusive husband when the police takes him away and want him back that very moment or cases where a woman is offered a shelter and still decides to go back, though she even lacks the economic incentive to do so.

Have you? Have you really? Provide me with some news reports then. Show me a news report of a woman who is crying when her abusive husband is being taken away. 24 hour news cycle means that it'll probably have an article on some local site, and if you saw it personally then you probably remember the name.

Umm, is this a joke? Cases of domestic violence aren't usually written about here at all, unless in very extreme cases of violence/murder/continued abuse or if the people in question are celebs. Where do you think the journalists would get to do if they wrote about every case of domestic violence here, that was up to recently usually considered a misdemeanor here? Actually still is for various reasons like the fact that it's not easy to prove continued abuse so they just go by what happened that night.
