I'm still curious about what the motivations behind all of this were. Were they trying to target specific people or just try and get everyone?

Plenty of hackers just get a thrill poking around at firewalls to see if they can get in, the same way our best doxers don't care what happens after the dox drops. There doesn't need to be an actual motive beyond the fun and challenge of doing a thing.

I found a copy of the release1.zip from some furry.

There is a file called PK.txt. Within it is the statement "Whats fair is fair, right?" So I assume it is someone with a chip on their shoulder.

The passwords couldn't have been leaked because even if the hacker had access to the database they would have been stored as salted hashes. Not even Null can see our passwords.
And regardless it doesn't even seem like the hashes were leaked.
