I remember having the option to pay for an av, or go without when I signed up. I guess I got in at a time when the stupid newbie av wasn't being stuck on new regs or something. There were many before me with it, and many after.

I know it was supposed to be annoying to "encourage" incoming goons to buy something they liked, because some people (myself included) would be perfectly fine with none at all and never bothered to buy one.

I have bad news: clique thinking is behind how MeToo and cancel culture operate.

EDIT: To give an example, it came out that one of the defendants in Weeb Wars is a wife beater who threatened harm against his ex's dog because she wouldn't pick him up in the car.
