Hello all! Fresh kiwi here. Not sure how I should be introducing myself, but here goes... I have been following this case since the beginning and been lurking this thread for a while. I haven't had an online presence in years, so I had been sitting on joining for a while. I do hope to provoke some thoughts and discussions while I'm here. I joined specifically for Vic's case though...

I'll go over some points about myself. Before this situation even happened, I have disliked Monica's work. She only fits silly and obnoxious characters as her voice is... well, silly and obnoxious. I enjoyed Vic's work as Edward Elric. I don't listen to dubs as often anymore, so I'm not sure if you can call me a fan. I do watch anime frequently and have done so for many years. I've also attended quite a few conventions over the years and have seen Vic on two seperate occasions.

Back in January, when I first heard the accusations, I really WANTED to believe these "victims". Truly... I did. But too many times they have contradicted themselves and still do til this very day. Even Monica's initial story baffled me when I read it. Her behaviour continues to baffle me going forward. So did the Tekko stories. All I learned from those claims is that their staff is extremely incompetent and Tekko is unsafe as security and staff failed to keep tabs on a guest not just one year... But for two years. Blows my mind. Also Adam's affidavit bothered me A LOT. In fact, a lot of the males that work at Funi that are speaking against Vic bother me. If these men have been aware of Vic's behavior... why on earth did no one speak up for their female coworkers beforehand? These people allowed women to work in a hostile and uncomfortable environment for years. ESPECIALLY Adam... as he allowed Vic to be booked at cons over and over again... knowing how dangerous he was. I mean, he was SO dangerous, that they had locks to keep employees safe from Vic. Give me a break... this is just too ridiculous and hard to believe. The "Vic has too much power" bullshit is just that. As apparently Adam had more authority, but decided to do nothing.

There are still things about this that I am not sure have been discussed. Like how this all came about. What prompted Monica and others to come forward? I know she initially says it is because she JUST learned it happened to her friends... But what started that conversation? What made the Yost twins email Monica out of the blue? It would be nice to see that email. Which I think Monica still failed to turn over at discovery... It is just very weird. Jamie just had her hair pulled which shouldn't have been a surprise to Monica because it was apparently SO common that Vic did it to lots of women in front of everybody. So again, I'm confused. Jamie was SO traumatized by Vic's words that she couldn't remember them. Poor her.

I can see there may be a grain of truth to what people say, but that's all there is to them... a grain. Many people seem to be screaming about testimony being evidence and I can agree with that. It is just that it is the weakest form of evidence as people can... well, you know... LIE. Or simply misremember things. That is why it is so important to get firsthand accounts as well as others to link the similarities to get to the truth.

I can share my experiences with Vic if anyone is interested. They are very simple stories and can be easily twisted to paint Vic negatively like people have been doing for... nine months now? I just can't believe it has been like this for so long. That's why I decided to come strap myself in for the ride with you all.

Sorry if this post is too long. Thoughts have been brewing for a long time and I have been wanting to express it with others.

Vic has gotten a raw deal. For all of Monica and Jamie's fist pumping, it looks like they will too once TCPA appeals hit.

As a long-time anime fan, does this remind you of any stories? Where someone thought they won, only to hate the taste of victory?

It ended in 2004 around the same time he founded okatron 5000. I wonder if she found out he was fucking the "talent", for contracts and left his ass as she was the one that filed for the divorce. Very interesting.

Only stuff Insee companies do is shut down fan-games and parodies as they hate copyright infringement. I mean like making a profit off of it kind of infringement.

That's what so ridiculous. He posted about how he doesn't support false rape accusations but then is KickVic and continues to comment on the lawsuit and involve himself in it... then claim he doesn't care. He even cited that biased as hell article about the mediation. He's a chump and a hypocrite.

Yeah Goku is the ambassador for the 2020 Olympics in Japan. And with a celebrity like Yuki actively making an effort to contact Toei about this I'm sure that's going to increase the chances of Toei actually doing something.

Seconding this. Recently i had to forcefully take a few steps back from WW and holy shit was that refreshing. You tend to forget how beautiful the world can be until you are forced to ignore the scum on Twitter.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I would be lying if I said I wasn't invested... I do enjoy most of Vic's work and when I met him he was a lot kinder than the rumors made him out to be. Of course I am aware that things can go either way and will accept the outcome no matter what it turns out to be. At the end of the day it doesn't prove Vic did anything horrifically vile even if the defendants can walk out of it scot-free. It only means they have a right to speak about Vic, which I disagree with the manner in which they decided to do so. I don't think it is right to spread rumors to get someone fired and lose revenue... And if he committed criminal acts, it doesn't seem appropriate to discuss them in public. This public execution of a man's reputation is just deplorable. I do feel the defendants should receive some form of punishment... But I digress.

That TCPA hearing was unexpected, but nothing is set in stone yet. I disagree with Ty waiting last minute to file and don't know if he was doing it because the opponents did the same for the most part or what. But who knows if it was done due to lack of resources, manpower, whatever... It could have been better and could have been worse. I can do a presentation and walk out of it thinking of 100+ ways to make it better. It is what it is.

I don't have social media accounts because I feel those sites are toxic as fuck. The only way I see tweets and the like is from what gets posted around here.

As a long-time anime fan, does this remind you of any stories? Where someone thought they won, only to hate the taste of victory?

Can't say I have a story that is that specific. All this Vic stuff made me think about was my own personal experiences at cons and rumors I have heard. Rape rumors, for example... You'll hear about it at a con, but never have I heard names or actions being taken. I can't say in all my con going experiences have I seen police escort someone out. I never felt like I have been in danger at cons... But then again, I'm not the type to get drunk off my ass or look for trouble. Lol.

JosephTX contacted Ron

Just a quick correction, JosephTX didn't make the first move in contacting Ron, Ron came to him, which in Joe's defense came out of left field because no one expected him to be that unhinged enough to try and intimidate people in their DMs. He posted a screencap of the first message as soon as he got it, which he probably shouldn't have done without consulting mods about it, then stupidly replied and had a conversation with him and posted it all in the thread, all while asking for requests from Kiwis to relay to Ron.

I honestly don't know if we really would've welcomed Ron to the Farms even if everything would've been thrown out for him after the 6th. It's for the best that he was just mouthing off and didn't follow through with it. Don't need a Shane 2.0 at this point in time.
