Longtime lurker, probably late and gay, made an account to link this since I didn’t see it anywhere yet.

Funimation and Aniplex merger

EDIT: Looks like Funimation will manage a few groups all merged under Aniplex and Sony

Hmm. Not as hopeful that this means anything since Funimation is going to be middle of the totem pole.

Still, Funimation must have been getting looked at pretty hard by both Aniplex and Sony for the past few months if this was planned.

It Begins! Funimation to be merged with Aniplex, and Sony in purchase discussions with Apple.

Put me down for “Sony orders Funi to settle quickly and quietly. Get NDA’s up, and stop the ongoing brand damage as soon as possible”. Given the not unexpected upheavals the better option for Sony would be to get out from any potential liability quickly. TCPA succeeding just dumps them into a long drawn out appeals process where the bad PR keeps on going. Settling now with NDA’s in place makes it all go away. Plus whoever ends up in charge of the combined Ani Funi isn’t gonna want to take ownership of this mess. Shut it down now and move on.

I think the bottom may have just fallen out of the Texas VA market.

Makes me wonder if she has yet another motivation to hate Vic, since we know he likes the orange man. I wonder if she's always been left leaning or if her new friends inspired her.

You know, I keep seeing this brought up in passing, but have we actually had any real evidence that Vic is a Trump supporter? Or even a Republican? I mean, I know a lot of people simply presume he is, or would be, because of his religion. But there are plenty of religious people who are rabidly anti-orange man because he is mean to people, and puts kids in cages, and want to ban guns because they are pussies. I know Huber said he was, but is that all?

Does he just wear political affiliation and policy preferences close to the vest, like a normal fucking person?

I'll stop sperging about Michele now, but just had to post these since she liked these. Totally not bitter or anything...

it's literally just what Huber said. Nothing from vic ever implied really any political affiliation and imo it can stay that way. I don't even care if he voted trump, hillary or the fucking flying spaghetti monster. That's his choice

Off topic, but not to mention that even if the did vote trump, that could be simply be for economic reasons rather than social.

I don’t think Vic has ever publicly discussed politics? Or even appears to have much interest in the subject?

My thing about this is wouldn’t NDAs get in the way of what we assume Vic wants? Also, appeals leading to bad PR may be overly optimistic depending on who’s appealing. From what I’ve seen of appeals, only two ways lead to appeal info being public: news of an appeal happening and the result of said appeal.

An NDA, if I recall, could just mean not to discuss terms of monetary settlement and other details. They can easily do a settlement with a clarification(retraction), apology for how it came off, and then do an NDA for everything else(money and other things), and a non disparagement agreement too for good measures(for both sides).

Now I am not 100% sure, but it is possible that the NDA could prevent funi or any part of them from stating that the public retraction and apology is part of the settlement.

No. An NDA can have tons of clauses including that the public apology can be issued but nothing beyond that is to be discussed.

Would be pretty funny if Sean, now that he got targeted himself with baseless accusations, did a complete 180, gave a big Fuck you to Chris and the rest of Funimation and came out with an affidavit in support of Vic, exposing Chris and the rest.

Wouldn't it be bad for him to be associated with a virulently homophobic rapist, though? And by that, I mean bad for Vic.

I find it funny that no one would even know who she is if it wasn't for Vic. The only convention work she gets is off the coattails of Star Trek Continues.

Depends on the terms as always. If the other parties involved get burned and he get’s some of his contracts restored, who’s to say?

I haven't really sperged about specht before, but here's my go at it:

For someone that scorned, she sure is milking that sweet star trek money as much as she can. There is also plenty of photos of Vic in her album. You'd think if she hated him that much she'd have removed them by now. Posted 12 of July guys.

He's even still on her banner. She has a pussy-boner for him still.

It wouldn't be surprising if Vic talked to his coworkers about the election during the time. Hell, the election even caused buzz at my work and I never held any political discussions with them prior. Vic tries to avoid going into politics at cons, and rightfully so. Anime conventions just aren't the place for that shit even though people have tried to push his buttons on the topic in the past. There's a good chance that his beliefs and preferences would make him vote Republican... But so what?

I don't think it really matters what political party he is affiliated with. He's the same person no matter how he votes. He treats fans of all kinds with kindness and respect. He's not shoving bibles down people's throats like others have said. He doesn't really care if you're gay, into yaoi, yuri, or whatever. The man just tells people to do what makes them happy. His religion is what makes him happy and guides him in this world, so I can't blame him for wanting to share it. It's not like he's telling everyone they're gonna burn in hell...

When I got his autograph, he was nothing but kind. He even did a recording on my friend's phone. It surprised me because I did hear that he was an asshole beforehand. It was a friendly experience and he didn't try to force his beliefs on us or try to force us into hugs or anything like that. This was in 2015. He's just the type of guy that personalizes his fan interactions to make it worth the wait.
