I have no idea what you're talking about. Photos like these should be perserved in museums.

Look at these works of art. True masterpieces.

Not to go too far OT but it is impressive if you really consider the skill it takes to do this. Something most kids raised on digital cameras couldn't accomplish. This takes a photographer with a high level of technical skill and is done with multiple exposures and masks and the photographer has to keep track of everything in his head to make sure the framing is right for all the subjects in the photo. He won't know if he nailed it or not until he develops the film.

Cheesy though this aesthetic is in today's times, it is the mark of a very competent photographer and wasn't something all that simple to pull off 30 or 40 years ago.

one piece.... and sonic x. that's all.
Sonic X was kuso without 4kids intervention so I'm not feeling it.

4kids One Piece is still preferable to hamfisted political agenda because its at least fun to laugh at poison suction cups; there's no joy in an anime character referencing something that dates itself like GG or talking about the patriarchy.

And this is why Sentai Filmworks will become the savior of anime after having risen from the ashes. Slow and steady, Sentai. (Also thanks, Sentai, for the heads up about Tsuritama going out of print. Gave me that kick in the pants to finally remember to buy it.)
Hmm. Out of curiosity and on a whim I googled that anime and from what I read it seems pretty cool. I think I'm gonna pira-...I mean, watch it.

Oh i'm not saying that Sonic X was good in japan, it was a doomed dub. Even so chris thorndyke is a blight on any fandom. him and his ilk.

As for One Piece... its less about how bad it was (to be honest sometimes it was funny) and more 'thank god it stopped before it got to the marineford arc'. Seriously... I don't want to imagine how bad the dub would get at that point.

I wonder how much confidence Sony has in the Funi brand since at this point it's been tarnished a bit. They're willing enough to keep it around, it seems.

If Sony merges Funimation and Aniplex, uhhh, what then? What happens with the lawsuit? Will if continue against whichever company remains or just dissolve?

What are the odd Sony starts cleaning out the costly troublemakers in this merger? LOL what are the odds Sabat loses his power whether he's fired or not?

The lawsuit continues and the resulting merged company will still be liable for Funimation's acts.

The thing about Sonic X is that you could say the first season focused too much on Chris. Also, the last 1/2 seasons had me thinking Cosmo could be cool in some games. Although episode 77 works better in Japanese. And both the themes are amazing. The English OP is in my head as I type this.

I have to disagree on One Piece, Four Kids cut away several episodes, and not only filler, they cut away plot relevant episodes and characters like Laboon, also some voices were so bad.

Don't know about Sonic, never saw the Eng dub and the episodes I watched were few and far between.

I think Digimon was 4kids? Don't know how it was in English, but it was very good in Spanish, maintaining some of the music and having a fairly solid translation as far as I know.

Also question, if Funimation ceased to exist, in the middle of the lawsuit, would the lawsuit continue with the new company getting saddled up with the charges?

AKA the same guy who ran this totally impartial piece of blogging.

Please note the difference in what he originally published and what is now available. In particular, Lemoine (who he is in contact with) estimating the lawsuit would take 8-12 months. He also added that he had reached out to Ty Beard, after he had been called out for being incredibly biased despite pretending to be a third party.

He even ran damage control for the Funi leaks. With the smoking gun being that Vic himself has participated in such recordings, such as saying "“No, I’m a man. I’m good with directions.” And yet not a single faggot thrown or 4 minute long gay orgy skit around. How curious.

Derek Padula is as impartial and trustworthy as Sharon Grisby. The only thing he has over her is that he's even more irrelevant. No one even bothered archiving his latest blog piece or even brought it up.

I like how they like to spin that Vic has his own outtakes, but his are the most kid-friendly outtakes you can imagine. The spiciest thing he has to say is "I won't kiss you, Greed!" and the best they can twist is "I didn't look at a map, I'm a man, I'm good with directions." It's not even sexist - if anything it's anti male, which they should love, because it's perpetuating a negative stereotype about men being too proud to ask for help even when they need it.

Digimon was Saban. The English dub's only features were riceballs being riceballs and death actually existing (for the most part; only when bad guys started team killing the pointless edits happened and that dropped after Adventure 01); it got less shit over time (especially Tamers and Frontier) but not enough to avoid being snark bait.

There was the time in the Pokemon English dubs that have the riceballs are referred as jelly donuts. That was just... wow.

Who would you rather have in charge? The people you personally hired that have been running the business to your liking, or the guys that bungled the firing of a potential sexual predator and are being sued?

Tough decision.
There's a catch 22 either way.

Either they wrongly terminated a man and defamed him to the tune of several million, or they let a sexual deviant rape his away across the anime scene for decades. After all, it was an "open secret."

Doesn't aniplex put out ridiculously expensive stuff tho? The Persona and Fate Zero blurays are basically unaffordable.

I fear this merge will serve to make everything too pricey.
I hardly buy physical releases. If there's a solid streaming option I'm set.

A fun one was in Digimon Data Squad/Savers where they turned BomberNanimon (literally a walking bomb who threw bombs) into... Citrimon, a walking orange that threw oranges.

My dumb 11 year old ass thought those rice balls were actually jelly donuts so when I saw an actual jelly donut for the first time, I wondered why they didn't look like a rice ball with jelly inside of it.
Thanks pokemon, for making me look like a goddamn idiot.

Didn’t another show turn something into hamburgers? Also, now that I’m thinking of it, jelly donut rice balls/sushi actually sounds pretty interesting.

Tenchi Universe changed a bunch of things, like turning sake into tea and putting swimsuits on girls in the bath. Yugioh GX completely rewrote a bunch of things, like one character who was a sake master (and therefore obsessed with it and incorporated it into everything he did, because childrens' anime) was instead a master of hot sauce. But those generally came with visual edits, rather than calling what is clearly a rice ball a donut.

Pokémon was calling rice balls donuts as far back as episode 12. Team Rocket got tied to a tree by the Squirtle Squad who stole their lunch and James was crying about wanting a donut.

Many episodes later when Todd Snap first appeared, they correctly called them rice balls because Brock was making them on-screen. I think it depended on the scriptwriter, tbh.

Going back to what I said about Caitlin Glass yesterday, I’m just going to elaborate why we should take everything she does on Twitter with a grain of salt, especially since she works at Funimation.

In a corporate environment, friendships take a backseat to making money, because money is what helps us survive. It's unfortunate, but it's true. Caitlin is in a much tougher spot than a lot of people think, because she’s in higher position than most of Funimation’s voice actors and she can’t risk losing that.

It’s even worse when you involve the lawsuit. Think about it: Caitlin has been friends with not just Vic, but also Monica and Jamie for many years. Imagine seeing three of your best friends involved in a bitter legal dispute that’s also having a negative effect on your employer. Now imagine if two of those friends happened to work at the same company as you. I would hate to be in that position. Obviously, Caitlin has to side with those two, especially when the number of friends they have dwarf the number of friends Vic has in Texas.

Also, unlike Monica, Jamie and Vic, Caitlin is a married woman. She’s got bills to pay, she’s got a roof over her head, she’s got a husband to support (to add insult to injury, last month, she revealed on her Twitter page that her husband’s two close friends are missing at sea). Do you honestly think she’s going to sacrifice all that to stay loyal to a former employee, even if that former employee is a friend? Not everyone is like Chuck Huber.

And here’s something else nobody’s thinking about: She could have been FORCED to not tag him for PR reasons. She could have been FORCED to like those Dallas Morning News tweets back in August. She could have even been FORCED to like any tweet involving Marchi, Rial, other voice actors and even several of their “fans”. A lot of Funimation voice actors could have.

People can disagree with her stance and her decisions all they want, but to argue that Caitlin did this to spite Vic and his fans is baseless and unfair, because guess who she is working for? The company that Vic is suing, the same company that fired him, the same company that happens to have Chris Sabat, Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi under their payroll, the same company that pays her bills. I absolutely sympathize in her position and I honestly wish everyone else would do the same.

That reminds me of:
