Ensure is absolutely delicious in comparison. It just tastes like whey protein powder. TBH I kind of like the coffee and dark chocolate flavors.

Kate Farms is cloying, chalky, gritty, slightly bitter, oily and earthy all at the same time. It has that pea protein texture that never really dissolves and the lipids they use coat your tongue and leave a film. I thought it was sweetened by stevia but i just looked online and I guess the quinoa and/or kale is what gives it the bitter nasty aftertaste.

Neither quinoa nor kale belong in a coffee-flavored beverage.

edit: by the way, beyond the "munchie see, munchie do" aspect and the fact that it makes them seem like they have the most delicate sensitive digestive system that can only handle a nutrition drink that's organic non-GMO vegan gluten-free etc etc etc. I am really, really convinced the unpalatability is the reason the ana-munchie crowd loves it. It makes it easy for them to drink it very slowly and not finish it because it's not good. It basically punishes fatty-boom-boom for daring to consume calories. Then on the way out it has a laxative effect and a lot of people who are on a liquid diet and use KF exclusively complain of raging diarrhea. Same way Ginge makes bowls of unpalatable slop and covers them with cinnamon, stevia, and assorted diarrhea-inducing powders. By drinking it they can continue losing weight and also maybe tank their electrolytes while still putting on a show of fighting the good fight.

TRIGGER WARNING: Autistic Medical Discrimination

Ive been admitted to Countess Of Chester Hospital for a post-Tonsillectomy blood clot & bleed. I had to attend alone, as my parents & husband are not able to care for me

After waiting 3 & a half hours for pain relief I explained my heart condition was in overdrive & I had reached my pain threshold, showing my sweating hands, quoting my heart doctor.
I was told “your heart is fine”. And accused of “texting your mum to phone an emergency ward over medication? You are making this worse.” By the A&E staff
I tried to remind the THREE staff that I’m here not by choice, I’m here for a Tonsillectomy Heamorrage ... to this the Male Nurse said “No one is keeping you here! You said you want to leave? Then leave!” I became stuck, crying, in 9/10 pain and only paracetamol to cope I asked them all to leave, telling them I’m in trauma, telling them I’m in panic & PTSD & that I’m autistic.

I was VERY Distressed, rocking, crying and saying my pain was making me not cope (I could hardly speak from throat surgery)

The response from the male nurse with glasses? “I have no compassion for you when you’re shouting, you just keep shouting”

I was saying “I’m in trauma, I’m autistic I’m in panic, I need help” - the nurse said YOU DONT HELP YOURSELF, walked off and called THREE Security staff on me.
When I saw the security staff, I could hardly breathe, sweated through all my clothes and coughed up my blood clot from all the crying & begging for help.
I’m thankful security staff recognised me & could see my fear, pain & distress. They cared for me when medical failed to. Security held my hand, told me I did nothing wrong and that I wasn’t a monster. Security told me they could see I was not well & explain to medical that I’m exhausted & scared from the pain & their accusations.

SECURITY helped me when NO ONE else would or could.

Complaining gets us no where - we’ve been asking for a face to face meeting with the Countess since March 2018 when I was abused over my Endometriosis pain.
I share this because the state of Health Care towards Autistics, Neurodiverse, Disabled & Learning Disabled people is ABUSIVE.

Spoiler: Health inequalities for people with LD In the UK

She forever screams about advocacy for people with autism and learning disabilities within the UK and tries to compare her being told to stfu and stop screeching to genuine issues people with learning disabilities face within the UK.

This is a phenomenon that has been largely researched, starting with a paper called Death by Indifferent by the organisation Mencap. This outlined the various examples of wrongful deaths of people with learning disabilities in the UK. Two years later they subsequently released a second paper with multiple case studies of avoidable deaths.

This was since followed up by the Confidential Inquiry into Premature Deaths of People with Learning Disabilities which was a thorough investigation into cases of mortality for people with learning disabilities which has subsequently led to LeDeR (the learning disabilities mortality review programme). This is a huge and we'll known issue within the UK. Adults with learning disabilities were dying avoidable deaths due to discrimination within hospitals. This included people being inappropriately put on DNaRs with the sole reason that "they have a learning disability", symptoms of life threatening conditions such as sepsis being ignored and doctors denying treatment because they viewed the patients as "non-compliant" among many other things.

In addition to this we have other pieces of legislation and events occurring including the events at Winterbourne View (and sadly, more recently Whortlon Hall). These were inpatient assessment and treatment units for adults with learning disabilities where systematic abuse was occuring. This brought in a whole deal of change to the way we work with people with learning disabilities within the UK, although this abuse is still happening.
