Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I agree, "lefty" paints with too broad a brush, I mean the rabid people parrotting the dncs latest talking points, not normal people who lean democrat. That's a bit careless on my part, I should try not to do that.

I don't think I've seen a single serious post ITT advocating this place get binned, as opposed to brainstorming where the problem's coming from and what can be done to improve it.

I keep seeing people claim that A&H is a right-wing echo chamber, but how is this possible? Do you get banned there if you post some "lefty "opinions or express views not in line with le based MAGApedes? Do your replies get hidden so others don't see you breaking the right-wing narrative? No? Then why are people saying things like that? Someone who disagrees might rate your post negatively, sure, but who gives a shit? You are free to go into any thread, say what you want to say and react to the response accordingly. People might agree, they might disagree, they might laugh at you or crack a joke in your support, that's what being a forum is (not to mention, how do you even dogpile someone on the Internet?).

Honestly, the complaints listed here seem extremely strange. They make it seem as if A&H is nothing but a toxic (hehe) wasteland full of people going off about niggers and jews in every thread. Now, I'm not an avid poster or even reader there by any means, but my humble experience doesn't compare even close to the level of critique addressed at that board.

What exactly IS the problem though? Too many right wing posters? If both right wingers, and left wingers have an identical rule set on a board, the problem likely does not relate to anything with the board's structure itself.

Not even every left leaning post. Any post that isn't exceptional /pol content gets dogpiled. It's not an enjoyable or productive place to contribute if you're not towing the line. I enjoy reading posts and opinions that are different from my own, but low quality, repetitive shitposting is boring.

I think the problem is that some readers struggle with the idea that you can disagree with a comment, while still accepting that it's contributing something to the conversation.

There's a massive difference between having something deleted because it violates some written, and well defined rule, and having something deleted just purely because some person didn't like it purely based on their own opinions on the topic.

Not really. Nothing on this board has any real world effect, really. As they say, "nothing of value has been lost." That goes for my posts the same as anyone's. If you get butthurt over pixels you have issues to work out.
