Sorry to break it to you, but I checked, and that's pretty much the actual script.
The character is talking about being "uke" rather than "seme", which means exactly that.

Well how about in the original 2001 anime? The manga handled the wording differently that I don't even know if uke and seme were even used.

The Tokyopop manga worded it to "If it comes down to 'attack' or 'accept', I choose to 'accept'!", "YOU IDIOT!!!" So if anything, the reboot anime made it more explicit in the script, as this isn't something I recall in the 2001 anime. It's a funny scene, one of my favorites from the series, but it's unfortunately been soured knowing about Chris' antics in the workplace that hearing it coming from him made me want to cough up blood.

I agree. Since Aniplex is in CA and Funi is in TX, I don't see both studios staying open. I would guess that most CA voice actors are union. Pulling their rolls and dubbing them in TX would be problematic. However, it would probably be cheaper to dub in TX with no union. However, with the crap show going on in TX, seems easier to cut ties there.

I'd have to check the original Japanese to be 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure uke and seme were used.

The definitions for uke are:
(n,n-suf) (1) popularity; favour; favor; reception; (n) (2) defense; defence; reputation; (3) agreement; (4) receiver of technique (e.g. in martial arts); (5) (uk) (col) submissive partner of a homosexual relationship; (P)

and the definitions of seme are:
(n) (1) attack; offence; offense; (2) (uk) (col) dominant partner of a homosexual relationship; (suf) (3) a barrage of; a flood of; (P)

So "give" and "receive" or "top" and "bottom" are both reasonable translations of the terms in the context of suggesting a homosexual relationship. The choice of which to use would likely depend on how suggestive the statement is supposed to be or which the translator thinks sounds better.

JMK thinks that the word queer on KEK7go's Twitter bio just means gay/homosexual/lesbian (which Kek is mistaken to be gay/homosexual by calling him a faggot), but according to Kek.... he's actually pansexual. Queer can mean either homosexual/gay/lesbian, bisexual or pansexual.

That's because the literal translation of "seme" and "uke" are "attack" and "receive", but the words are still very clearly meaning "dominant" and "submissive" in a gay relationship.
I think it's safe to go by @Allanon definition, as he seems to have a better grasp at the cultural implications of those words (that's "tsundere" kind of stuff, it's not meant to be literal).

If anything, translating it with "top" and "bottom" was probably more faithful to the intended idea, while translating it with "attack" and "accept" was basically a bad google translation.
I've checked it in 3 differents languages to be sure, and every translator went with something similar, it's not exclusive to the english dub.

Alright, I'll take the L on Fruits Basket. Wordplay is important in comedy and it flowed very well in the series, but however it got translated originally 20 years ago I think still hits the target in its own little way. I never looked closely at the original Japanese because I wasn't much into subs at the time (and when I tried, I could swear the subs read out exactly like the dub that I didn't bother with the subs), and I have all the manga volumes so I hardly saw the scanlations. I hadn't noticed any big differences in the script prior to that episode and got caught off-guard, but I still couldn't help being reminded of the orgy on Kami's Hideout when I remembered Chris is Ayame, and it just made me sad and slightly defensive/concerned.

It's funny, you could switch him out with Ian Sinclair and I wouldn't have noticed the difference, so should Chris be terminated from the project (the series is going to continue well into 2020 or even 2021 it looks like), replace him with Ian and we'd be none the wiser.

(Would half-gay be "bicurious, but won't let the balls touch"? )

Funimation probably has Aniplex and Sony people asking a kinds of questions regarding things Sabat would rather keep buried.
