Damn that does look pretty

Good to know funimation acknowledged the video as their own. Im sure toei would be very interested in knowing funimation used their IP to push politics. That wouldnt fall outside the scope of what they are allowed to do with the IP would it? :story:
I’m going to need to see a contract before reacting either way.
October 2nd for mediation?

Yeah, nothing's gonna happen besides some angry screeching and the mediator wanting to minecraft after dealing with that level of exceptionalism
If Casey’s there, they’ll be passing the flask and everclear back and forth.

We don't believe those women.
Emmett: it's not about believing women, I saw it.
Well, we don't believe you either Emmett, didn't you get it yet?

But if you're so eager to speak the truth, I do have a few questions for you regarding your affidavit:
- how do you know Vic pulled Price's hair, did you see some hairs snap, or are you just assuming Vic pulling over Price pushing?
- how do you know Vic hissed something into her hear, do you have a super-hearing ability that allows you to hear people whisper?
- and last but not least, how do you know she didn't consent? Have you an actual basis for that claim, or are you just assuming?

That's part of it. Seems like due to the merger, there are massive layoffs happening at Funi. It's not uncommon for companies to find ways of trimming the fat after spending tons of money on acquisitions.
Powerleveling a bit here, but I was actually just recently in a layoff that involved well over a hundred employees being let go from the company. People keep saying "It's nowhere near as bad as being fired", but it's effectively the same thing. You just get a severance package, in my case at least.

Japan is generally even more "keep politics out of my shows" than Americans. Yu-Gi-Oh's mangaka got huge backlash from the community when he did a small fanart blurb about voting in the Japanese election he had to publicly apologize and grovel for using his characters in such a way.

I assume that's why they went after the JP one, it's more likely to gain traction in Japan through searches. Maybe you could try uploading it to Nico Nico Douga, it's what most of Japan uses instead of YouTube. It'd gain better traction there.
Should try and post that somewhere like NicoNico. That place is practically the japanese YouTube. Don't think Funimation can claim and/or flag your video on that site either.
Nico Nico is hemorrhaging viewers badly since Kadokawa runs the place like retards. Of course it will be good to have the vid up there too, but I'd say re-posting the vid on Youtube also would be necessary

Where can someone find more info on the Aniplex / Funi merger? Because I saw conflicting stuff that seemed to cite both a merger in the US as well as a new venture in Europe.

Literally from Funimation themselves:
CULVER CITY, CA – September 24, 2019 – Sony Pictures Television, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., and Aniplex Inc., a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc., today announced they have combined multiple Sony-owned Anime streaming businesses. France’s Wakanim, Australia’s Madman Anime Group and US-based Funimation will form a joint venture to be owned by Aniplex and Sony Pictures Television. The venture will be led by Funimation’s General Manager, Colin Decker.

Under this structure, Funimation will acquire and distribute Anime content from Japan across this global portfolio of brands, each with deep regional expertise in serving fans. Now with a larger global footprint, the combined businesses will expand their 360° / multi-channel approach to fan engagement that spans home entertainment, theatrical distribution, live events and merchandising.

As the first project of this union, Funimation will be the exclusive(*) streaming home of the latest installment in the Fate/Grand Order series for one month. On October 5, Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia will be simulcast in the US on FunimationNow and will launch on Wakanim and Madman Anime Group’s AnimeLab in their respective territories. Fate/Grand Order Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia is the first television animation series of the Fate/Grand Order mobile game, a global phenomenon which has been recognized as one of the most successful mobile games in the world with over 41 million downloads worldwide.

See, that's what I mean. That's not a Aniplex - Funi merger. That's Madman, Wakanim, and Funimation's streaming services being merged into something under Funimation (who will be under Sony and Aniplex, who is under sony).

Aniplex is remaining their own thing, and it says nothing about Funimation's dubbing work being changed up.

If they've been farming their dubbing to Sabat's studio, then I don't think it'd matter much either way what the name on the checks is. That said, I really think it's just a matter of time before Aniplex is in charge behind the scenes. Aniplex is Sony's anime wing and there's really no reason to keep the two distinct in perpetuity. I've been through multiple buyouts/mergers and eventually the bought out company is always absorbed and the superfluous parts are cut off. Normally, it takes about a year (standard length of executive agreements) but it can be more or less, but will happen eventually. Not saying they won't keep the Funimation name, but a bunch of people are going to get chopped eventually.

Well well well. Something interesting happened when I was uploading something to my archive channel. For those of you not aware I uploaded a copy of Evan Stone's Election video but in full Japanese text including Japanese subtitles provided by our very own @ManateeHunter.

Seems 3 days ago Funimation issued a manual copyright take down:

And even better look who it was that filed it personally:

Funnily enough they only targeted my Jap version of his video:

Really makes you go

Oh well guess I'm gonna have to take it down. :^)

For those unfamiliar with Evan Stone - The Man, The Myth, The Legend - and his past, here is an article in which he eloquently describes his hatred toward IP pirates that would make the Navy in One Piece blush:
Choice quotes from the article:
Stone is a Junior Attorney who describes himself as a programmer, filmmaker and musician. Together, these skills turn him into the perfect pirate chaser, or so he thinks. Suing tens of thousands of pirates is Stone’s destiny, and despite the fact that he hasn’t won a single trial case yet, he will continue this fight.

“I was born to do this shit,” Stone says. “I eat, sleep, breathe, shit this stuff.”

“I said, you know what, I know a whole bunch of people whose shit is pirated all the time that don’t give a fuck about bad press.”

Some of this grudge originates from early last decade when he founded a music company that was planning to sell MP3s. The timing was perfect, bands were interested and the first MP3-players were just hitting the mainstream. However, there was a slight problem that burst the bubble – a problem called Napster.

“My vendetta against pirates has been building for years and years,” he says, commenting on that history.

Sounds like the origin story of a supervillain.

“I know what’s involved, and it’s such horseshit for them to say they can’t get this stuff,” he says, later referring to them as “those fuckers” at Verizon and “those snakey fucks” at Time Warner.

Yet, he doesn't recognize the den of vipers that his fellow UNT graduates have cultivated at Funimation.

Similarly, the porn industry hasn’t given him the love he was looking for either, at least not in a business way. The legal community in the porn business didn’t like the newcomer and turned against him. This is one of the reasons why Stone decided to pull out.

“Fuck the adult industry,” he says. “You can quote me on that,” he told the Dallas Observer journalist.

:story: :story: :story:
My fellow Kiwis, does he sound like an incel to any of you?

And so this hatred-fueled battle of a generally likeable lawyer continues.

“I hate hardly anybody,” he says, “but when I think about pirates, I do tend to think about a lot of them as smarmy entitled little brats,” Stone says.

"Generally likeable"? Sure.....

What about when Stone became the "textbook example" of how to acquire court sanctions?
To summarize the staggering chutzpah involved in this case: Stone asked the Court to authorize sending subpoenas to the ISPs. The Court said “not yet.” Stone sent the subpoenas anyway. The Court appointed [EFF and Public Citizen] to argue whether Stone could send the subpoenas. Stone argued that the Court should allow him to – even though he had already done so – and eventually dismissed the case ostensibly because the Court was taking too long to make a decision. All the while, Stone was receiving identifying information and communicating with some Does, likely about settlement. The Court rarely has encountered a more textbook example of conduct deserving of sanctions.

Needless to say, our boy here is deserved some criticism:
