I've been audited a couple times, it wasn't a big deal. Maybe audit isn't the right word - but like 2-3 years after I filed taxes the IRS would send me a letter saying "You said you made this much and paid this much, we think you made this much and still need to pay us this much. If we're wrong, say something otherwise write a check"

Reasonable wage based on the services they are providing to the business. So if they're doing nothing $0 is a reasonable wage. If you actually get audited, which you never will, and they can't find your spouse's signature on a single document they're going to levy taxes against the invalid business expense deduction.

And there is no CEO or Secretary of his business because it's a sole proprietorship. All income paid is taxed the same whether he pays himself all of it or pays half to himself and half to his wife. As a sole proprietor he and his business are the same legal person. As a married couple he and his wife are the same legal person.

Tbh, my knowledge of taxes is purely for another jurisdiction, but generally the two main advantages of having a spousal employee is the tax deductions, and being able to equalize income. Everything he "pays" Kat is deducted from his business income, and thus is spared the so dreaded "business taxes". While Kat would be taxed on this income, she's probably in a lower bracket than Dave and should be taxed at a lower rate.

But again, not really sure how spousal income splitting works in the states. The taxman doesn't care because it's almost impossible for them to prove whether or not your spouse works for you because it's so easy for you to manufacture evidence. So unless you're really aggregous about it, they just let it slide.

He pays no business taxes because he's a sole proprietor. All of the business' profit is his income directly. I said that in the post you're quoting.

As a married couple she's not in a lower tax bracket than he is. They're in the same bracket called "married filing jointly". I also said that.

Sole proprietorship:

Sole proprietorship trying to pay a spouse:

Differences in the second diagram:
  • DSP would have to pay worker's compensation insurance premiums and unemployment insurance premiums against the income he's siphoning off into Kat.
  • Converting a sole proprietorship's income from profit to the owner to wages to the owner also may result in the loss of a 20% taxable income deduction which would increase federal taxes.

Not to mention that Phil would have to pay more for FICO taxes as well, as he'd be paying both his and Kat's FICO taxes.

More likely that the whole Kat Paycheck thing is nothing more than Phil keeping track of Kat's income to help estimate future tax liability. This would be important if they're filing jointly as her income would need to be accounted for.

In short, this is nothing more than a nothingburger.

Holy shit what a good catch I never noticed that she was wearing headphones.

Back on point with yesterday's stream, the only games that will work with his audience is bloodstained and that pc indie game. Everything would have been dead. I guess his plan of action for Luigi's Mansion is to do a play through of a switch game before pokemon sword/shield.
If I remember they both had 1 earbud from a set in so that they could both hear audio from the game and each other talking. She wasn't listening to music or something.

We know DSP stalls a lot, but I played Luigi's Mansion 3 this morning, and even having never played 1 or 2, barely ever played the Switch before (I still can't get used to the locations of the X and Y buttons, and I forgot that R and ZR are two different buttons), AND vacuuming everything in site just to get used to the mechanics, I got past the point DSP finished at in 70-75 minutes.

DSP is going to hate having to use Goouigi and Luigi at the same time for puzzles. He'll complain because he can't do 2 things at once.

The household wouldn't pay more for FICA; it's a flat 15.3%.
Code:
15.3% times half his business income + 15.3% times half his business income = 15.3% times all of his business income.

Phil stated once after being banned (sorry, 'suspended' - I WAS NEVER BANNED) that Twitch walked him through the rules and informed him that they would never take any third party source as verification of a complaint. This presumably includes Phil's own 'archive' channel since it is not on Twitch. Shortly after, Phil began deleting his Twitch streams very quickly, and seemed to shove his more dubious comments into 'unrecorded' segments or in his Twitch chat. The only way Phil can get caught on these things after the VODs are removed is via screen caps, chat logs or detractor videos that Twitch allegedly won't rely on.

That said, you can still view VODs that have been 'deleted' if you have them open in a tab, so I'm fairly sure this isn't as safe as he thinks, since Twitch can probably still pull them up on their end. But it also gives them deniability if they just don't want to act on a complaint.

We all know Twitch will make up reasons for whatever they feel like, but Phil goes to some effort to give himself that buffer.
im positive twitch changed their tos to include offsite statement which would make sense as to why he deletes 'controversial' segments of his streams when he uploads to the 'archive'

Aaaand he showed his desktop again.

For people who want to compare, here's the screenshot from when he showed his desktop during the Feb. 2019 Retrospective Event:

I think Phil's PSU might have died a long time ago, that shit runs on pure autism.

EDIT:

I can't believe this is the desktop of a 37 year old man. It looks like the desktop of a 96 year old woman, that has been dead for 3 years and left her pc to her 25 cats.

A quote from 'The IT Crowd' comes to mind: "You 'have it how you like it'? It's infected. If this was a human being, I'd shoot it in the face."

I think it was the lack of donations that really pissed him off enough to shout out Tevin at the end of the Halloween stream. Someone donated saying Tevin was getting a ton of donations during the stream, more than DSP, and I think it soured the rest of the evening.

Good. That's what you get for begging for 1800 dollars over the course of a week, and then begging for 500 dollars the very next day. Get a job, DSP.

dave is jealous tevin has over a thousand viewers

I'm just uploading it to the site for preservation sake:

DSP is more pissed off that Tevin is "successful" than that Tevin insults him. Even Tevin said "what success are you talking about?"

Everything is about money for DSP and DSP legitimately believes that money that gets donated to Tevin is legally DSP's money due to the "stealing."

Has either of the two ever discussed if DSP has ever tried to take down Tevin's YT streams? I have a feeling DSP has tried, but doesn't have dick sucking mod support (like on twitch) to do it; and Tevin fought it to the point either DSP has to lawyer up to do it or back off.

DSP's stance (and remember how much he lies) is that Youtube refuses to do anything about it until an actual lawsuit is filed, and DSP can't afford to file a lawsuit.

DSP believes Youtube is too lenient on copyright issues.
