Rally’s over. I took notes throughout, there’s a lot in there so I’ll put it in spoiler tags.
- 4:30: The line is moving reasonably fast. Small group of pro-Trump protesters across the road, waving flags and Trump banners and playing music. Doors are supposed to open right about now, but the line is long. Heavy turnout, about 95% white.
- 4:35: Two pro-life protesters right at a corner, with stacked signs and megaphones. Mostly being ignored, possibly since there’s a police officer right there.
- 4:40: Merch tables and stands selling buttons and other Bernie stuff, mostly buttons but also a lot of shirts and hats. Looks like two lines were set up to feed people into the event. Overall, it’s running pretty efficiently — lots of Bernie volunteers along the way, trying to recruit volunteers and asking people who say no to wear little green stickers so another volunteer won’t bother them.
- 4:50: I’m through security and got a seat. Time to wait. Right now, most of the arena is empty, but people continue to stream in.
- 4:55: The volunteers appear to be funneling everybody together into specific sections, where people are packed together shoulder to shoulder. Arena is much smaller than the Target Center, and so far, nowhere close to full.
- 5:00: Some bearded white rapper named Brother Ali is performing on stage. It’s pretty awful. A guy in a tiger-patterned costume is dancing around. It’s also awful.
- 5:05: Brother Ali talks about the “land of the thiefs, home of the slave.” And the “United Snakes.” People start cheering when he says the President’s a rapist.
- 5:10: Brother Ali is trying and failing to get the crowd excited. People continue to flow in.
- 5:20: Brother Ali leaves to half-hearted applause.
- 5:30: Half hour to go, people continue to flow in. Still no one on the second level, and entire sections of the first level are empty.
- 5:35: Volunteers continue to come through, filling the scattered empty seats in the full sections. Guessing it’s a photography thing, trying to get good pictures of a jam-packed stadium full of Bernie supporters.
- 5:45: A band shows up, with no introduction to say who they are. They say that since people are still coming in, they’ll wait to perform so everybody can get “an equal share of funk.” Finally they’re introduced as “The New Power Generation.”
- 5:55: The music is, in a word, anemic. So is the audience response.
- 6:00: This stadium is definitely not designed for good acoustics. The music is an echoey mess.
- 6:05: It’s supposed to have started by now. Trump was 20 minutes late to his rally though. They’re doing a power ballad, and people are waving their phone flashlights back and forth in lieu of cigarette lighters.
- 6:20: In the middle of the last song, someone pushed a lettered foamboard sign into my hands to wave around with everyone else in a line. I’m not sure what the slogan was, other than it started with a picture of the state and “MN.” I was holding the M. I guess that’s how they get people to do that. Now they’re throwing shirts into the crowd, while doing mic checks on Bernie’s newly set up podium. They’re also pushing the people in the full sections closely together.
- 6:25: Shaun Berth, campus coordinator, takes the stage to plug the Students for Bernie group on campus as well as the Students for Bernie instagram group. Also tells everyone to introduce themselves to each other. The audience complies obediently. Shaun then rants about the college finance system and student debt. The crowd, being full of students, goes wild.
- 6:35: A bunch of campaign people take the stage to do a photo op and try to get people excited for Bern. She also wants a revolution.
- 6:40: “what the people want is very simple:” {escalating demands} “That’s it, and that’s all!” Again and again. Wanting cancellation of all student and medical debt. Oh, and M4A, college for all, marijuana legalization...
- 6:45: MN Attorney General Keith Ellison takes the stage and immediately leads a “Not me, us” chant and talks about community and connection and love and other shit. Mentions the transgender community, “climate catastrophe,” insulin rationing, bankruptcy by medical debt, etc. Wants everybody to be obliged to each other, etc.
- 6:55: Ilhan Omar takes the stage, talks about communities living side by side. I find myself thinking about Halloween this year, and what the trick-or-treaters were like: One huge group, sticking together for protection, with all the parents very close at hand.
- 7:00: Takes shots at Trump as dividing people and setting them against each other, and says everybody needs to be set at the same level re: power.
- 7:05: Lists seeking asylum and healthcare as universal human rights. Everyone chants “GREEN NEW DEAL.” She talks about workers a lot, and worker’s rights, but I don’t really see anyone working class here.
- 7:10: Says building a movement is the only way to stop Trump, and repeats the #finepeoplehoax.
- 7:10: Tells everyone to get out their phones act text ACTION to some phone number to get information on Getting Involved(tm)
- 7:15: References recognizing the Armenian Genocide, then introduces Bernie Sanders, who takes the stage while “Back in Black” plays. Introduces “the next first lady of the United States,” and thanks Brother Ali and New Power Generation.
- 7:20: Bernie spends time thanking all his “progressive” friends, then sets about ranting about orange man. Crowd chants “LOCK HIM UP.”
- 7:25: More ranting about Trump. Says he’ll win by doing the opposite of what Trump is doing. Says his movement has people of every gender identity, which I doubt, because my super unique gender identity isn’t in his movement.
- 7:30: Says that “E pluribus unum” is pretty much a collectivist slogan. Repeats that he wants everything to be tuition-free and student debt-free. Also wants to implement the Green New Deal.
- 7:35: Says that no one has been subjected to more attacks by Trump than Ilhan Omar.
- 7:40: More socialist “We’re all in this together” dogma. I notice that he never leaves his script, even once. He also says “transphobia.” Oh, and “look at random people in the crowd and pledge to fight for them.” Get offended on other people’s behalf, etc. “Not me, us” chants.
- 7:45: Quotes Nelson Mandela: “Everything seems impossible until it is done.” Mispronounces “refugee” as “refujay” while talking about Ilhan. Takes a shot at Amazon for not paying federal income tax.
- 7:50: Promises to tax pharma. Says that education is a basic human right. Promises high-quality education for everyone, with high compensation for teachers. Says we can cancel all student debt by imposing a “modest tax on Wall Street speculation.” Promises a federal jobs guarantee system that makes work by fixing infrastructure.
- 7:55: Promises that the Green New Deal will create 20 million jobs, and a national rent control system along with 10 million new housing units. Oh, and criminal justice reform, and an end to cash bail. And an end to the war on drugs.
- 8:00: Immigration overhaul, and an executive order to grant citizenship to everyone in the country. Kids in cages. Oh, and gun control. “Our gun policy will be determined by the people, not the NRA.” I wonder where the constitution comes in.
- 8:05: Pro-choice, too. Though is all about women’s right to choose, not transmen. And promises to only nominate pro Roe v. Wade justices to the Supreme Court. “People have a right to love whomever they want.” I wonder how that could possibly backfire.
- 8:10: “Remember, at the end of the day, the 1% is only 1%, and we are 99%.” He pretty much closed his speech on that.
All in all, I feel like his platform was “vote for all the free stuff I’m promising, and someone else will pay for it.” He did manage to fill the stadium — a much smaller one than the Target Center, but an accomplishment nonetheless. Still, wasn’t that fond of his message; it seemed designed to get people to vote for him, not to be in any way feasible. I also didn't like the collectivist "everything you do, you should do for each other" undercurrent.
You're probably biased, but who's rally did you like the most?Rally’s over. I took notes throughout, there’s a lot in there so I’ll put it in spoiler tags.
but she didn't... she voted present.References recognizing the Armenian Genocide
How did you tolerate it all? This all sounds a lot more low energy than the Trump rally that you went to.
You're probably biased, but who's rally did you like the most?
"They could not Tweet/comment on the record because they were not authorized to talk about [topic]."Maybe Trump should refer to his unverified meme producers as "unnamed sources close to (X)". Apparently that makes saying whatever you want perfectly legit.
Well at this point, we're already overdue for another civil war anyway so we may as well get it over with.

Deranged attorney Ashlie Weeks is also a poet:
Tears, Torture, and Tomorrow presents a narrative in verse about surviving and navigating womens issues. It explores the complexities of sexual harassment, sexual assault, gender discrimination, abuse, and perseverance. This poetry collection seeks to inspire and remind women they are not alone in these difficult and incredibly painful times. Weeks wrote these poems over the course of many years, and now, with the emergence of such strong voices around victimization and objectification of women, their time has come. This collection reaches out to victims and perpetrators alike, with the end goal informing, assisting, and helping anyone who has been a victim of such behavior.
lol @ the snipe back about being accurate. At first I thought it was blue check related but then I started wondering if Twitter told the NYT which accounts they were looking at that didn't have a verified phone or email associated with them. That would actually be a little scandalous.
I hope it is real. Oh man do I hope it is real. It will be a cringe factory.
Stelter really ought to just neck himself because he can't sink lower than standing on camera and talking shit about someone's spelling on Twitter. What is more amazing is he and those who mock Trump's tweets don't get that he almost certainly does it on purpose so it will get coverage as @thismanlies stated. That makes it even more embarrassing that he is reporting on them again!
Stelter is by far the biggest faggot on CNN right now and that is including Don Lemon's bitch boy Fredo.
Why on earth does anybody air this hobgoblin? He is consistently just... way off base.lol @ the snipe back about being accurate.
I looked at some of that guy's feed, he is relentlessly insane.View attachment 996854
I forgot how much better my processors feel when ignoring this guy. But I suppose we'll need the material in 2020...

The mental gymnastics required to convince oneself that 2018 was a blue wave when they lost seats in the Senate is impressive. The GOP wasn't pounded into the dirt. It is fun to watch people completely ignore reality. They lost the house which was expected. They gained in the senate which was the wall the broke the blue wave and speaks very poorly of DNC support.
I hate the 4D chess shit but in this case it is quite literally the case. These fucks are so filled with hate that they can't see that the President is trying to counter ISIS' messaging. Or maybe they can see it and they just don't care. Either way it is despicable and represents a failure on the part of American society.New from the Babylon Bee, there is no article, just a headline, but the headline says it all.
