Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

So what exactly happens to Lucasfilm should Episode IX flat out bombs?
I think this was discussed before by someone here 300 pages back. Can't remember it right but I think the gist is that it starts off with Disney getting rid of Kennedy by "promoting" her to a high position over at FOX for the sake of good press and not pissing off investors and partners (who are now pissed regardless). Then they either completely get rid of Lucasfilm and just use the name for publishing and distribution while actual SW production goes in the vault or is handled by a completely different wing, or they clean house and have another random business suit exec, Filoni, a senior employee or senior author take over while cancelling a whole bunch of future projects Lucasfilm was planning (like the stuff they announced at NYCC for the sake of giving the illusion that nothing is wrong). Then they put complete focus on the Mandalorian and Kenobi.

But I'm more inclined to believe that they'll just sweep all of this under the rug and lock away SW forever without saying a word. Or worse, they'll continue like nothing is wrong for the sake of saving face with investors since they can't repeat the same cancellations and damage control they did after Solo bombed without their stocks and reputation receiving a harsh blow.

No matter what the outcome, everyone loses. But one scenario at least leads to SW being locked away for good without ever getting raped again... Maybe.

Well I think it’s going to require Episode IX underperforming like Justice League, or you know, a Dark Fate/Dark Phoenix size flop to make it happen.

I don't think it will flat out bomb, Disney is gonna do their magic and pay the media to say it was a success, pay so the critics have comfortable seats when they watch it and also pay more so it looks like it got a billion at the very least in the box office via ghost tickets.

Episode IX getting less than a billion would be amazing tho. Big damage that would do. But I imagine Iger will say "Like I keep saying guys, less is more with that Space Wars franchise! LEL". And nothing is going to change cause this is Disney, they never admit their failures, especially this current Disney and their target audience the freaks and weirdos. Those fans will eat them alive if Kennedy gets fired or replaced by A MANNNNNN, so nothing is going to change. Mandalorian and Kenobi will have their runs and 3 years from now, Episode fucking X will premier with new main character SRS lesbo last jedi last hope Gil Tarka and his(?) tranny rebellion fight the evil Supremacy Blanca led by yet again poor Lord Sidious and his giant ball that destroys planets.

But if somehow Episode IX gets Solo numbers....ohhhhhh man, I want to see that. That's going to be a fucking show. That would be the last nail in the coffin.

I do remember Snoke having a line in TFA that Kylo was still an apprentice level Sith by telling they were to continue his training after current events were dealt with which is why i never was really annoyed he was bad at using a Lightsaber and i actually thought Rey won because she obviously was pissed off in that fight and used the dark side and actually scared her and that was why she wanted training in the trailers for. Imagine how dissapointed at being wrong again i was

I've honestly come to expect this kind of shit from Wikipedia that it doesn't even surprise me anymore when I see anything new about them mentioned. What I do find kind of weird is how divisive SW has become, a level of divisiveness and arguing that's almost on par with modern political discourse and cult-like devotion to one's party. With shit like Game of Thrones, Terminator and CISbusters, everyone just kinda rolled over and accepted how bad it all got with no attempts to argue against the hate. Defenders just surrendered or claimed "let's not talk about it anymore okay?" and Critics didn't go all out to call haters Bigots, russian bots, nazis or some other buzzwords while defending said media to death, but with SW its like a sacred cow (even if its not the same cow anymore, just a horse Disney painted to look like a cow) and you'll see people go into lengthy discourses over its status and defame anyone who goes against it. SW is without question a key part of American culture and holds a special place in the memories of many people in the Western Hemisphere who grew up enjoying SW media and merch with their parents, but to go this far into discourse and biased faggotry over it, which is most prominently seen in media outlets, despite that these same media outlets had no problem shitting on George and his prequels (even for years after the fact), just seems so very odd... Is it because SW merged with another shitty cultural icon with a cult-like following ie Disney? Or is all this just a result of Disney controlling so much of the media now that it only feels like things are so big and divisive?

Also bad news, Anthony Daniels is getting harassed on Twitter by Reylos for speaking his mind about Disney Wars.

Some even wishing him and his character to die. Like how fucking exceptional have these Disneytards become to wish death on people for speaking their mind? This is beyond political discourse and just straight up "BEHEAD THOSE WHO INSULT DISNEY WARS! Holdo Ackbar!" If any of you have Twitter accounts, I suggest you go and show Daniels some support before he's pushed into giving into the fear mongering.

Well to be fair, I think most people that hate this trilogy wants Kylo and Rey to die which I think would be worth sacrificing C3P0 not that enough people haven't been sacrificed for the sake of the new characters.

Scuttlebutt seems to be that the reason nothing about the movie was established in the last trailer storywise is because they're still doing reshoots. The rumor is that they've ended up in a vicious cycle where they put forth a version to be looked at, the test audiences hated it, and, desperate to not be seen failing, they ordered yet more reshoots.

If this is true, we're looking at incompetence on a scale rarely seen.

They actually never called themselves sith and JJ said many times in inerviews that he didn't want Snoke or Ren to be sith so as to "not upset the prophecy of Vader killing Palpatine and disrespect Geoerge" which is why all the dumb guidebooks never give Ren or Snoke the Sith logo and just calls them "dark side users", despite that JJ had no trouble disrespecting George's characters in other ways or bringing Palpatine back now despite going against the prophecy he seemingly cared about. The apprentice part is true though, but just another example of wasted ideas.

Even with context that whole thing is so awkward and off-putting. This also seems to hint that the supposed leak about Poe having a gay moment with Finn in the film might be true. Guess they gotta pander to shippers all the way since that's the only part of the nu-fanbase that still gives a damn about Disney Wars.

TL;DR - This is what happens when current-day politics and films intersect.

As I mentioned at some point in this thread, people tend to watch movies as an escape of sorts from reality and day-to-day BS. That doesn't mean that the films can't have political themes and topics, but they shouldn't beat audiences over the head with the same stuff they're trying to put aside while they watch their film of choice. TLJ was so full of SJW content that it felt less like Star Wars and more like something intended for the most extreme of Tumblr users.

Online a-loggery by rabid fans isn't surprising, unfortunately. One would think fans would realize Sir Anthony Daniels is one of the the only actors (if not the only) to appear in nearly all main SW content to date and appreciate that legacy and longevity.

On the other hand, I'd suspect that fans so hellbent on sperging over the ST and how Disney Wars is all that matters would be quick to shit on Daniels for no other reason than his appearances in OT/PT-era content which they now shun like a leper. *sigh*

That said, maybe it's best he's retiring from the SW franchise when he is. Disney has turned it into garbage and I'd prefer to remember Daniels / C3PO as an integral part of the SW saga when it was still well liked by a broad fan-base. Even as Artoo's comic foil, you couldn't help but laugh at the two of them experiencing whatever happened in front of or to them with 3PO constantly fussing over the worst-case scenarios as Artoo simply rolled with the punches.

Do you guys think we would ever need a Disney thread in general for cows? Because there's a lot to choose from, from Iger and his idiotic decisions, to their shill websites like OhMyDisney and DVDIzzy, and their braindead man/womanchild fans who are the definition of pathetic (see Reylos and Jenny Nicholson)...

I'm definitely expecting Disney to inflate the box office on this, so we'll likely see over a billion here unless this movie gets under 900 million in real money.

I thought Kylo was better than that since he was supposed to be the leader of the Knights of Ren which had been good enough to destroy Luke's order. And the Rule of Two after all (which Snoke seems to be following in the movie) means he was the apprentice just like Vader was. And we see Kylo doing crazy shit with mind tricks and freezing blaster bolts in mid-air so I assumed the fight between him and Rey would be an even match instead of the nonsense we got.

I like the way Rey is almost shoved into the background.

These are the same people, that shun critics of TLJ as haters, toxic and much worse.
These are the same people, that endlessly bitch about Kelly Marie Tran being bullied off of social media.

Hypocrites, the lot of them.

Well, shame on you for thinking anyone with the least bit of competence was writing these movies.

This is just a short snippit of text, but neither "Poe" nor "Finn" seem to talk and behave like their movie counterparts at all.

I unironically would be interested in whatever story this poster had to tell. Imagine, Palpatine trapped in his own personal Force Hell where he's forced to exist in a realm inhabited only by different aspects of his personality whilst comic hijinks ensue and he learns the true meaning of friendship self-loathing.

...this is still better than fart fetish or Wendig's verbal diarrhea.
Not a very high bar to surpass.

Damn, I knew Jenny Nicholson was always a shill, but this genuinely brings me over to disliking her. What a cunt.

Like I said these people don't deserve a trilogy

Trash fucking fanfic writer is given official permission to write fanfiction for the Rat's fanfiction take on an actual franchise decides to ship a pairing that will not be because the Rat doesn't want to lose the Chinaman's money. All in a book that will lounge in Ollies next to some used underwear since no one, especially not the Chinamen the Rat's crying out for, will read or acknowledge and thus sell like 2k copies at best. What else is new?

The prose is utterly workmanlike, serviceable for gaming fiction, maybe. The dialogue is stilted and robotic, more intent on conveying information (franchise information, not story information) than character. But here's what sticks out to me as laughable: why is Finn discussing this intensely private moment with Rose which nobody except maybe a couple of First Order pilots ever saw? Why, to tell the reader that Finn is single, ladies! (And gays!)

Also, how does a black man blush, I ask ya.
