If it's any consolation, Connor and I actually share a lot of movie tastes. I think that's probably the only redeeming thing about him, really. Dude likes some really good movies.

He's mentioned a number of kind of arthouse-y movies to me, like name-dropping. I don't remember the titles but I do remember noticing that almost every movie he mentioned had been featured on Brows Held High (an internet review show that covers arthouse titles) and that a lot of his opinions and interpretations were exactly the same ones expressed on the show, so...make of that what you will, I guess.

On the plus side Brows Held High is a really good show and the guy who hosts it, Kyle, is a really sweet, smart guy so at least Connor's cribbing his opinions from someone who actually knows his shit.

For context, Connor mentioned the movie thing a couple of times in chat, and iirc he just happened to mention at least one film that I knew, liked, and had an opinion on. As soon as he realized someone else had actually seen this supposedly obscure film, he wasn't interested in talking about it anymore.

If and when he comes back 'll release the recording that may or may not exist. I gave him an ultimatum of sorts and No, I have no clue who he is. The only reason I got involved was a combination of boredom anger and a genuine concern for the boy. And the fact I could've been just as bad as him with the to muchinformation he tells everyone

That works, thank you. Honestly, even after all the shit he's pulled, I still can't be totally angry at him. He's just a dumb kid stuck in his angsty preteen phase, probably due to a combination of coddling, autism, & chronic depression. I was just like him, too, except I was actually a teenager at the time. I think I started to realize how stupid I was being after I started living on my own & doing things for myself. If he thinks life is hard now, he's in for a rude awakening when he has to decide between buying food & paying rent.
TL;DR every one of us was probably Connor at one point. I think it's fair to say that some of us still possess certain Connor-traits. But it was adversity & experience that shaped us into who we are now. I fear that until he starts working & pushing himself, & probably getting away from his parents, he's just going to stagnate.

I mentioned it in chat, but I think we've hit Peak Connor. I've got like 1000 more posts spread across 5 accounts on 3 more forums to get through, but what we're going to see is the same stuff as always: Molly Ringwald, Redesigning Eva, Fuck my Parents, Cunts and Whores, Godzilla Rules, James Woods. The only difference is that instead of being on his home turf of Wrong Planet, he's out interacting with "normals" which makes it a bit more entertaining.

Unfortunately I think this is going to be the rest of his life too, unless something forces a change - something like his parents forcing him to do something, or he fails out of college due to "stress", or attempts another half-hearted suicide.

I think that's one of the reasons that people still try to give Connor advice. I know that it's the reason that I'm still trying to. There's a real sense of 'But for the grace of god, there go I'.
