Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

It does seem that they're doing better at actually listening to fans so I'm actually cautiously optimistic for infinite. But 343 is still in charge so I'm prepared for the worst.

They've turned around MCC in a way that practically no other major AAA release does and that's practically all of them.

That moment when you realize no major flagship releases had any real post-launch support, let alone half a decade in, except for a bundle of remasters.

Since @Judge Holden already brought it up, I may as well discuss it. The Resistance Reborn book is another shitty attempt by Disney to "fix" TLJ and IX by not just removing the FinnxRose romance for the Chinese (while also probably setting up the rumored FinnxPoe pandering for IX) but also explaining how the Resistance magically rebuilt itself thanks to "Hope™" and how the characters are totally friends and Leia and 3PO love them to bits. The book itself is stated to be "the most important" nu-novel in SW and "absolutely essential" for IX since it will explain a lot of plot holes in IX and TLJ regarding the Resistance, the characters and new arrivals, much like the shitty new Resistance Marvel comics that are the only ones that explain where the fuck the Ackbar Donut Steal came from.

Here's a Clownfish video that surprisingly covered this, which is odd since they and many other Disney tubers hardly ever cover Disney's EU outside of games, but since Disney is pushing this one as their most important and advertised book it would explain why so many tubers that are both anti and pro Disney who usually never give a shit about Disney comics and novels are covering it.
Brilliant work as usual Lucasfilm; putting essential information outside your damn films and using your nu-EU to fix your shit films rather than EXPAND on them... The book is currently receiving mixed reviews.

Also Bob Iger came out and claimed that "George approves of the Mandalorian"... Yeah, as if anyone is going to believe anything you say anymore Iger despite that your autobiography went against everything you claimed about what Lucas approved before. I do like that the best thing he could get George to say about it (if true) is that "its fine" just "fine".
Bog Iger also tries to throw his own opinion in as if that shit matters.
“I’ve probably seen each episode of The Mandalorian three times,” Iger says. “First, to give some notes. Second, to see the rough cut and the impact of the notes. And now, just recently, I watched all the final cuts so that I could be blown away by how it looks.”
We know you never gave a shit about SW, Iger, especially after your views regarding GE were revealed. This is obviously damage control over what he revealed in his autobio regarding George's thoughts.

Kids' shows really got fucked because both idiots on Right and Left obsessed on them. The Right was really exceptional about seeing secret occult messages in shit. They'd throw tantrums about some character using black magic or pentagrams and they always left out the part that it was the VILLAIN doing these things. The Left had a bunch of post-Vietnam hippies that demanded that characters talk out their differences and never throw a punch.

Sometimes I feel like those pussified cartoons where nobody ever got hurt or died and always had a happy ending each episode are part of what's wrong with my generation. I can see why anime was such a breath of fresh air and our mostly-shitty domestic product deserved to get shoved aside.

As to Finn/Rose getting retconned, I think that might have more to do with appeasing Finn/Poe shippers than the Chinese.

That's exactly why anime was so mind blowing to me as a kid, something like Dragon Ball Z where characters actually had fights with punching and kicking, got hurt and even sometimes killed, it was so incredibly intense compared to the mostly sanitized cartoons I saw before.

Another big difference is just how... attractive anime looked compared to most western toons, which at the time the trend was to basically make characters purposely ugly because that was "funny" (think Rugrats) but the girls of Pokemon, Sailor Moon, DBZ, Tenchi Muyo etc were just so.... appealing.

The only western cartoon I saw as a kid that was comparable to anime was Batman TAS, but even it was still not as intense as Dragon Ball Z.

Now flash forward 20 years later and increasingly all of western media is going downhill while Japanese media remains exciting, it really makes you think.

This article is hilarious. Leia had to be the star huh? Shouldn't have been so quick to kill off Han and Luke. Now you have no one 😒

In the original version of the ninth and final installment, The Rise of Skywalker, Leia (played by Carrie Fisher), was going to emerge as a full-fledged Jedi warrior, complete with her very own lightsaber. “She was going to be the big payoff in the final film,” “She was going to be the last Jedi, so to speak. That’s cool right?”

Yeah, wouldn't want to make sure your subordinates actually understand the mission or anything, that's only something toxic males do. Even in ESB Leia explains to the fighter escorts on Hoth what they're supposed to do instead of just telling them to shut up and fly. Was Pablo always this much of a tool in pre-Disney LFL?

SOME TIME AGO
"Yeah we are taking this franchise FAR away from George Lucas's failures and in a bold new direction since obviously no star wars fan wants to see that hack has anything to do with the new series"

SOME TIME LATER
"Fans? fuck them. they are all icky nurd manbabys who are mad that we made the stunning and brave choice of having the first women and ethnic people in star wars history! We can just replace them with diverse™ new audiences"

TODAY
"JESUS CHRIST IM SORRY FANBOYS, PLEASE WATCH OUR NEW SERIES!! I PROMISE WE LOVE YOU NOW AND DADDY GEORGE LUCAS GAVE IT HIS OFFICIAL THUMBS UP SO THAT PROVES ITS GOOD!"

At this point we have officially reached Gone with the Wind territory now, with a sobbing cartoon rat in place of Scarlett O'Hara, and a surly neckbeard in the role of Rhett

That’s funny, because in the Chinese market the only thing worse than an interracial relationship is a gay one.

My guess is that they’ll just tantalize enough to push shippers over the edge. Which to be fair doesn’t take a lot at all.

Holy God just make a good movie. At the very first story meeting they should have stopped anybody in a suit or with dyed hair right at the door.

When should the audience believe a character is competent?

-When the writer says so
-When they are a woman
-When they resolve plot contrivances that they created in the first place
-When they show they are competent

I suppose Disney did something nobody else was able to accomplish: making people actually nostalgic for Lucas's prequel trilogy.

This copypaste about the only possible "star wars celebration" panel that could have appeased the fanbase still holds true today..

need them headpats

>Rian Johnson's new movie bombed and his Episode 8 stuff is getting erased

Oh now the expectations are on the other subverted foot.

Knives Out will likely do well. The rest is valid thou

Plus even if you grant the premise that she doesn’t have to tell him, the movie does not treat this as if it were a mistake, despite the fact that it had catastrophic consequences that played out right on screen.

It treats her like she knew what she was doing to whole time, even as she’s in the process of fucking everything up and leading them into an inescapeable trap.

Also: Thats not how Military Chains of Command work.

If one of you your top subordinates act out you do this

Ah, I miss those days when adults acted like adults even in media.

None of the TLJ spergs even came close. Except maybe that brief moment between Luke and Leia at the very end.
Poe made a massive tactical mistake, BUT he still commands the fighter wing.

Even a line saying "We have reason to believe our internal communications have been compromised. So General Organa kept this plan down to a small number of people. I am the only one who is still alive other then her. I need you to trust me"

but then the movie wouldnt happen
