TGWTG Allison Pregler / Obscurus Lupa / Movie Nights - The vindictive leader of #ChangeTheChannel, GOTIS personified, vendetta against The Cinema Snob

What did the email say?
IIRC, and I'm sure others can elaborate better, while they were collecting stories for the Google doc, one of his (since then revealed) victims contributed her story and specifically named him.

...until the "Jewario was the rapist "reveal happened and then a few people on the CTC side like Holly (obviously, since she was HR manager at CA at the time), Lindsay and Dan Olsen admitted they knew all along. We then heard from the woman in question saying that her story never got published in the doc because Lupa told her 'she lost the email'...even though they still managed to make mention of CA hiding a rapist's identity because it suited their purposes.

Allison liked this tweet and the implications irritate me. It's more weird status flexes from "big twitter people" wanting to feel important without any of the negative that comes with having "power". Luckily there is some sanity in the replys about punching up vs down, but a lot of agreement too. For the big account they can just block the one harasser and move on. For the one being dog piled they have a swarm all at once of autistic fan boys to deal with. They absolutely know what they're doing when they quote tweet someone so their fanbase comes to massage their fee fees and be the bad guy on their behalf. Then they get to feel validated without anyone secondary attacking them for attacking a small guy. They just sit back and say bUt I nEvEr ToLd AnYoNe To HaRaSsE. When yes you did just by quoting, you know damn well what your fanbase is going to do for you and you like it. Otherwise why would you reply or quote in the first place?

I'm sorry, if you want to be big important twitter person sometimes that means you don't get to defend yourself the way you want to. Being the bigger person is hard and sometimes it sucks but ultimately it's the right thing to do. If it's the same person giving you shit over and over that's one thing, but it's rarely them spotlighting that one person, it's usually some random who reached out once with no pattern of harassment getting called out. And it's funny because these self important big twitter people usually fall in the 10-100k range, people bigger then that like in the 500K-millions rarely engage with trolls or any of that, but you know they still get shit on all the same, maybe even more. Funny how they can resist and be the bigger guy but these smallbig accounts just can't resist. Twitter really is full of all the bullied rejects suddenly letting power and popularity go to their heads.

I have kind of mixed feelings about that. Yeah, some big (or "big" since it doesn't take much for people on social media to get a swollen ego) seem to get off on power tripping and coming down on anonymous randos for minor trolling or even valid criticism, but there are also plenty of douchebags on twitter who obsessively stalk and attack people with larger accounts, including spreading damaging rumors about them. Hell, look at what Allison is doing to Brad right now. At some point you're totally justified in calling someone out directly if it's to protect your reputation.

The bigger account in the tweet chain seems like a smug asshole, but they did make a decent point about how most of these people aren't children, and grown adults should stay out of the kitchen if they can't handle the heat. On the other hand, some accounts are children or dumb teens, so the big account is wrong when he/she states as an absolute that nobody there is a child. Most of the time people don't know shit about whoever's on the other side of the screen.

Anyway, Twitter is cancer in general and most people on it suck so no matter which side you take you're going to end up accidentally defending some stupid, sociopathic asshole.

Imagine being so hungry for attention that you would publicly debase yourself to the wider world for good boy points in your retarded friend circle. Women are more interested in social acceptance than most men but she takes it to never before seen heights. It’s odd to say this but the best kind of comeuppance that could happen would be her living a stable, normal, and healthy life. I doubt she will ever throw out the “mental illness” crutch though. What kind of person wants pity this badly?

The thing about Twitter (and the Internet in general) is that it is designed to equalize power structures. Random nobody person gets 280 characters, same as Kim Kardashian or President Trump, and anyone can see it or spread it around. Anyone can go viral if they're clever, funny, or informative enough.

The "power" imbalance comes from platform features, like the algorithm that suggests who it thinks you should follow, or the subscriber feature that increases who sees your words as it increases. But ultimately the only "power" anyone can amass on Twitter is popularity, which can be lost as quickly as it's gained.

Trump could lose all his "power" on Twitter tomorrow if people just unsubscribed and blocked him. But they won't, because they get a rush from talking directly to the the most powerful man in the country without risking real world power-based repercussions. And it's that same rush that the small accounts are chasing when they tweet at a larger account they view as being more powerful.

If you're an actual child who doesn't understand what he's saying, Ok, maybe you get a pass. (Except you shouldn't be on the platform at all.) But if you're just chasing the rush, shouting shit into the void, then it's disingenuous to complain when the void answers back. And you don't get to act surprised about the echos.

I brought that specific tweet up because Allison did this recently to someone. I remember reading the original tweet before the quoted person felt the need to delete it because Allison called them out and got mad at them over a total misunderstanding. The tweet was actually agreeing with her and was trying to be negative towards Brad. But of course she wanted more ass pats and didn't read it right. There was one commenter who pointed out what the original tweeter meant but the rest is all ass pats. I know Twitter is full of raging assholes and if the same person is harassing you day in and day out sure whatever, blast them back. Play stupid games win stupid prizes. But in this case it was a single rando who agreed with her, she misinterpreted, and they got scared enough to DFE when she quote tweeted them. That's not really ok.
