George Zimmerman sues family of Trayvon Martin, publisher, prosecutors for $100 million - The saga that never ends continues

George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer acquitted of homicide charges in the 2012 fatal shooting of unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, is suing Martin’s family, prosecutors and others involved in the case he claims rested on false evidence, according to a copy of the suit sent to the media Wednesday.

Zimmerman is represented by Larry Klayman, a high-profile legal crusader tied to conservative causes and the founder of Judicial Watch before splitting with the activist group.

The suit in Polk County Circuit Court cites information in a documentary about the case that accuses the Martin family of engineering false testimony, and the director has scheduled a press conference this week in Coral Gables to coincide with a film screening there. The suit seeks $100 million in civil damages, alleging defamation, abuse of civil process and conspiracy. A copy of the suit was distributed to media Wednesday by the movies’ director, Joe Gilbert. The case does not yet appear on the online docket of the Polk court system.

The lead defendant in the suit is Sybrina Fulton, Martin’s mother who became a national figure in the wake of her son’s death as a campaign surrogate for Hillary Clinton and a national advocate for social justice and reducing gun deaths. She’s running for the District 1 seat on the Miami-Dade County Commission being vacated by a term-limited Barbara Jordan in the Miami Gardens area.

Martin lived with Fulton, then a county employee, in Miami Gardens, and was visiting his father, Tracy Martin, in Sanford on Feb. 26, 2012, when he died in a gated community where his father’s fiancee lived. Martin was returning from a store with candy. Zimmerman, 28 at the time, reported Martin as suspicious to police in a recorded call after 7 p.m.

The details that followed remain in dispute, with Zimmerman claiming he was attacked by Martin and defended himself. Police and prosecutors described an unjustified shooting of a teenager in a hoodie with Skittles and a drink. A jury acquitted Zimmerman of all charges in 2013.

The lawsuit presses the Zimmerman version of events, with allegations of efforts by the Martin family to produce a false narrative through dishonest accounts from witnesses. The suit also names prosecutors in the Zimmerman case, alleging false prosecution, as well as book publisher Harper Collins over the October release of “Open Season: Legalized Genocide of Colored People.” The book is by Ben Crump, who represented the Martin family. Crump is also named in the suit, which states all defendants “have worked in concert to deprive Zimmerman of his constitutional and other legal rights.”

Crump, Klayman and a campaign representative for Fulton did not respond immediately to requests for comment.

Lol, you and @Rice Is Ready need to calm down.

Where in my posts did I defend Trayvon Martin? I'm merely pointing out that Zimmerman isn't as innocent as he portrays himself to be. That's why I linked his past run-in with the cops himself. As @FierceBrosnan & @Mariposa Electrique pointed out, it was two unfortunate people together in harsh circumstances in the wrong time.

The case was several years ago, yet just in Zimmerman's ethnic background and his brief encounter with Travyon, there are several stories or ideas that don't correlate together. Even with all the evidence proving one or the another, everybody has their perception on what actually happened. The only way to know the full truth is if you were actually there.

Given that you two are letting your racism flow with your posts makes me less likely to believe or take you seriously.

Side note, I'm Black. Not that it's any of your business, so that's just your inherent racism.

Hearing about the case for the first time, I wasn't too young from Trayvon. From what I heard, a Black kid was profiled and shot for dead because of his appearance. It did strike a nerve at the time, but I was young so there wasn't much I could do. As I got older, I realized that there are assholes in every race, gender, etc. Racial profiling was known with policing in the USA, so people had a right to be upset by that. However, other Black people aren't helping Black people with our portrayal in the media and society. So I would face racism from both sides. So it's hard for me to pinpoint a conclusion from today's perspective.
I knew you were of bike thieving descent

I still don't know why they commit more violent crimes. I'm not trolling you but I can't establish motive for a complete stranger. I don't know who a demographic is unless I meet people from it.

You're either severely autistic, disingenuous, or have no pattern recognition.

Selling exhibit A from a murder trial ( yes I know he was acquitted and all that, but he was put on trial for murder) that made national news is fucking creepy. It would be like if OJ Simpson auctioned off the knife the he-totally-didn't-decapitate-Nicole-with-but-if-he-did to turn a fat profit. It's a move in extremely bad taste and he should have stuck to those crappy paintings.

He was bankrupt after the trial and needed whatever money he could get. Literally who cares.

And you are of bike buying descent. I'm sure you keep yours locked up, though.

You're either severely autistic, disingenuous, or have no pattern recognition.

It would be easier to have a discussion with you if you'd stop the routine you've got going on.

I learned about the places I lived in and what groups of people are responsible for what crimes. I can make a fair assessment having all that information.

Agreed.

Trayvon was a chest-puffing thug who should not have automatically resorted to violence, but that does not excuse Zimmerman being a wannabe tough guy and a complete idiot at that. Had he just stood back and let the cops do their fucking job, none of this would have happened.

Instead, George Zimmerman decided to enact his cowboy fantasies and the guy ended up drastically worsening race relations in the United States as a result.

People tend to forget that despite the high crime rates within inner city black communities, there was a sort of racial detente in the Clinton and Bush years. After the LA Riots, race relations seemed to cool down a lot compared to what was before, and it wasn't until the one-two punch of the Zimmerman trial and the Ferguson Riots did things completely go to shit.

Not even the clusterfuck that was Hurricane Katrina was able to sink the detente, aside from Kanye West sperging on TV about Dubya. But Zimmerman's actions and the resulting media freak show that followed sure as hell did (although the great letdown that was Barack Obama's presidency also played a role)

The Trayvon Martin incident would be a comedy of errors were it not so horrifyingly tragic.
That's how the media sold it, it's the story I believed at the time. But the facts of the case don't support that. Trayvon approached him.

Zimmerman being an asshole doesn't change his right to self defense or excuse Trayvon for assaulting him.

The man was defamed, it's not even in question. 100 million seems pulled out of thin air, and obviously the optics of suing the family are not great.

But the media created the race angle to the whole thing, you can't blame Zimmerman for that.

The fact so many are falling over yourselves to defend Trayvon/excuse black criminality is funny.

This is the farms, it's not srs business. You think the only acceptable mockery is some autist like Simba Lion or CWC? You think blacks should be exempt?

It's almost like without the ability to ban/unperson people its alarming to you some people dont want to be around blacks. No one is in here advocating for some ubermensch belief about whites, just saying "lol what niggers".

I'm reminded the line about jews recoiling when you call them jews, some of you melanin brothers are very telling in your reactions.

True.

The media is definitely the most guilty of all involved in this entire thing.

Zimmerman shouldn't have engaged Trayvon once the cops were called and Trayvon shouldn't have assaulted the guy, but you can chalk both of those actions up to being panicked or momentary stupidity. But the fucking media decided to fan the flames and go out of their way to rile everyone up on both sides, setting the stage for Ferguson and Baltimore.

There's nothing wrong with racial profiling, just as there's nothing inherently wrong with racism. Certain crimes in certain areas are overwhelmingly apt to be committed by certain people. Racial profiling is a valuable tool not only for law enforcement but for all people. You see some black male between the age of like 14-35 who dresses ghetto, walks and behaves ghetto, the chances of you being in danger is manyfold increased, especially if they're mobbed-up, especially if you're white. Trying to be colorblind and kumbaya in those situations can cost you your life.

Racism is valuable tool that is built into all of us. Unless you're using it to pry the skulls off the shoulders of <other race> for no good reason or other evil shit, its perfectly fine. Everyone is racist and that's okay.

To be fair that was primarily the result of the media and politicians who creamed themselves over a chance to stoke anti-white hatred, even though dude was hispanic. What Zimmerman did or didn't do was entirely irrelevant to the resulting hubbub, the only thing that mattered was that they could use it to sell anti-white hatred. If Zimmerman were black he could have chopped Martin's head off with a rusty spork and used it as a soccer ball and the media storm would have died down in less than a week, if it weren't altogether buried from the start.

The whole thing was one big ball of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes". I loved how Zimmerman got whiter and whiter with each update and I think MSN was caught lightening his skin tone a few times in articles.

I'm not defending Trayvon, bud. You can mock whoever you want. I'm sure you know how your verbiage makes you come off. It's fine if you genuinely do not like black people. Just know that people will interpret your posts with that in mind and it can kinda hamstring any argument you have.

Trayvon was an innocent 17-year-old teenager who simply exercised his right to self defense and was killed by a creepy, probably pedophile animal spicjew known as Zimmerman. Zimmerman aggressively stalked and harassed Trayvon for the non-crime of walking in his neighborhood, despite being told not to be police. Trayvon, rightfully angry and scared by this unjustified aggression from a much older man he didn't know, demanded to know what Zimmerman was doing and why. Zimmerman, a man who was fired from two separate security guard jobs for being overly aggressive, responded with both verbal and physical attacks. Trayvon fought back, rightfully so, and kicked Zimmermans ass. He used the only tool available to him- the concrete- to neutralize a threat to his body and life. Self defense laws don't just cover guns and knives, you are allowed to use whatever tool you have. Unfortunately Zimmerman did have a gun, and shamefully shot the young man because he is and was criminal scum and his ego couldn't bear that he was losing a fight and justice was prevailing.

Don't believe the lies that pro-Zimmerman criminals spout. These people aim to destabilize self defense laws and advocate for criminals to be able to do whatever they want to innocent American people. They should be hung as traitors.

Whatever your political opinions I think most people can agree Invader Zimmerman is a cunt
He's a cunt indeed. He had a criminal record before this, mind you.

But a cunt that is about to get retribution for a lie that has been skewed for long enough. He should've done it earlier.

Honestly I am curious to see where this lawsuit goes. I don't expect Zim to win, especially not with his current attorney, but I reckon we'll get some hilarity out of this.

The man was defamed
That argument would have made more sense had he not revealed himself to be utter garbage after he was aquitted.

Although the media did misrepresent some facts, they weren't wrong. In fact, some of the coverage actually served as foreshadowing to what a shitty and narcissistic person Zimmerman is. Also, their coverage was not 100 percent false as some have pointed out.

The fact so many are falling over yourselves to defend Trayvon/excuse black criminality is funny.
Nobody is defending black criminality, what we are pointing out is that Zimmerman is not an innocent victim. Sane people don't follow visibly dangerous or suspicious people unless they've just kidnapped their kid or someone they love.

Yes we will get some of them lulz. The /pol/ threads about this are gonna be filled to the brim with dindu nuffin memes. I think if he were to sue, he should do it at a lower amount. 130 million dollars is way too fucking much. You're literally raping the family at that point out of their money.

However, then you can look at this as kind of petty. Zimmerman not being guilty was already the commeaupeance to the other side, suing them now doesn't really matter or will impact them in the long run. I do agree that the media should be held accountable for crafting this successful narrative of the "innocent black boy" and "racist Zimmerman" though as it was this narrative that spawned Blacks Live Matter, an even worse variation of the Black Panthers. You can't even hate on them because if you do, you are forcing them to do the whole "oh so you think black lives don't matter" and shit and it really fucking annoys me being black myself. I would be all for a movement uplifting African-Americans, but this isn't the way to do it, especially when it was predicated on a skewed narrative. Had the Trayvon Martin case been like Emmett Till, there would be a whole lot of justification for fairness through activism, but this is just a plain skewed narrative and honestly, this news story should've just been a one and run to be quite honest.

Once again, we must reinforce that Zimmerman is a dick, a criminal, and a shady figure, but the evidence shown within this case does not show him to be the one within the wrong, completely. However he did jump the gun, no pun intended, on his reaction.
