Crime TV reporter smacked on bottom during live broadcast: ‘You violated, objectified and embarrassed me’

Authorities promise to take action against runner after WSAV New’s Alex Bozarjian assaulted while covering road race in Georgia
A TV reporter said she was left “violated” and “embarrassed” after being smacked on the bottom during a live broadcast.

Alex Bozarjian, of WSAV News, was reporting roadside from a 10km race in Savannah, Georgia, when a male participant ran up behind and struck her.

Ms Bozarjian appeared visibly shocked in footage of the incident as streams of runners continued to pass her on Savannah Bridge.

She later condemned the runner, saying: “To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: you violated, objectified, and embarrassed me.

“No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere! Do better.”

Fellow reporters showed their support for Ms Bozarjian’s statement on Twitter, while criticising the man responsible.

“I’m so heated for you,” Emily Bloch of the Florida Times said. “This is disgusting. Sending strength and solidarity your way. Now, let’s get this grimy dude and warn the women in his life.”

ABC News 13’s Caitlyn Penter wrote: “DO NOT TOUCH REPORTERS. Period.”

Ms Bozarjian was covering the annual Savannah Bridge Run on Saturday when the incident happened.

Robert Wells, director of the Savannah sports council, promised to find the runner and take action.

“Alex, what happened today is 100 per cent unacceptable,” Mr Wells said. “You have my assurance we will identify him.

“This will not be tolerated at our events. Glad we have race bibs and photos for easy identification.”

I've had women touch my ass without permission before. I didn't feel violated, objectified, or embarrassed. I just felt like someone liked the way my ass looked and wanted to touch it. Why are women so spoiled that they think being desirable is a form of victimhood?

For people allegedly so passionate about personal freedoms a lot of you aren't comprehending this, eh? It should be anyone's right, male or female, not to be grabbed or touched when they don't want to be.
I generally agree. For non-reporters.

I'm so offended.

You're trying very hard to sound reasonable but if you were actually being reasonable you'd be more interesting in the disproportionate response. Virtually everyone at some point will be touched when they don't want to be. And you know what? They're fine and get over it and it isn't newsworthy. We're supposed to be up in arms about it happening this one time because it happened to a member of the propaganda mill? We need to adulate and swoon this one time? This deserves to be part of a national outrage campaign? Screw that bro, she's fine. I don't condone the dude slapping anyone's ass but the pearl clutching and moralizing over it is worse than the act itself.

If journos didn't wield thier power like some sort of sword to strike down a persons career i'd agree with you, but at the same time this chap is gonna be flayed alive for something comparatively trivial compared to the sort of events and activies journalists should be covering. For this woman, this event is a score to be settled rather an a mild annoyance to be ignored, she wields the power to fuck this poor dumb bastard over.
