Saint Isaias Boner was the guy who made Skullmund, the GBS offsite that formed 3 years ago or whatever when all those dudes got banned. He then shut the site down at some point during his transition to own the posters for being to racist/politically incorrect or whatever

He had a wife and kid when skullmund started

The mods don't even have to get involved - SJW bubbles like this encourage people to get more heated and angry about the state of the world, to the point where they start yelling at people who they don't think are angry enough. ResetEra does this as well, where as long as you're freaking out about what is acceptable to freak out about, then you can call for genocide and it's OK. If you're saying the right things, you're 'letting off steam'.

Unsurprisingly, troons and their handmaidens are at the front lines of REEEEEEEEing about how awful everything is, and if you dare to even suggest they should calm down, or that they're making everyone feel worse by catastrophising everything, or that their Chicken Little/Debbie Downer routine isn't good for anyone, least of all themselves, oh, the explosion that results.

Metafilter had regular political threads basically full of TDS (with a side of This Is Bernie's Fault) every two weeks, because if they lasted any longer they'd start to break the forum. And eventually the paid mods got tired of having to deal with all the shit being flung around and stopped letting the threads be made, as well as quite a few users saying it was polluting the whole site and driving people away. But that 1% of the forum that was responsible for 90% of the posts went on a tear, about how dare you try and control their emotions, stop tone-policing, if you think we're not being polite than you're a bigot too privileged to be truly affected by the current state of America, and on and on and on.

This is exactly what SA is going through, with the added complication that the mods are unpaid so self-select for NEETs with no life who get off on the small amount of power being a mod gives them. And every SJW-oriented forum never seems to realise that a) the troons will never be happy, b) the loudest voices usually drive off more people than they're worth, and c) those few people who make a big deal about whether they'll stay or go, trying to drag sympathy and asspats and calls to 'no, stay!' like Koala's March just did and like coalesced around KetKat on ResetEra - they are inevitably the people you should actively wish to leave, because all they cause is drama, and 99% of the time they're bluffing anyway.

The only thing SA has going for it is that Lowtax theoretically can undo all the changes before a mass exodus, either a quiet one of the majority of users, or a loud one by that handful of troons who want to start their own sub-forum. And having Lowtax being the one thing that can keep a forum together is basically the same as having nothing that can help. SA has been taken over, and the downhill trajectory is now a troon-led plummet.

Good luck, Lowtax, on getting payment from the eternal beggars you've let have the win here. People who scam for laptops and weed aren't exactly free with supporting others.
