The only thing Greg is doing with his kids is verbally abusing them by yelling “Take some responsibility!” The kids can’t be by themselves without Lainey because Greg doesn’t give a damn about his kids and lets some teenagers do the work for them.

School is the best thing for these kids to experience normality as opposed to living 24/7 in their weird house.

I don't see Lainey or Greg having the patience or genuine interest in teaching their children unless they hired a tutor to do it for them. It is hard work and involved.

Also school would be good to keep an eye on their wellbeing as there would definitely be school records about behaviour, physical health and appearance, and their learning capabilities.

Hopefully the FBI will be having a look through anything suspect in that regard.

The regulation and monitoring of home school is different with each state. Some states are very attentive and strict, and have strong circles where they actually have the equivalent of extracurricular activities for kids, like choir and sports.

However, some states are very weak and basically leave the family to fend for themselves, which of course means these states have higher rates of the kids being abused.

The Turpin parents had reportedly been planning to movie to Oklahoma before they were arrested. I'm not sure if the reason was ever confirmed, but I do know that Oklahoma is one of the states with weak home schooling (which would make abusing their kids easier).
