More specifically, it's not nearly as bad as the tidal wave of autistic reeeing that Digibro started and people like Geoff aped. That shit is far more ridiculous than the anime itself. If you ask me, their desire to be taken seriously is more preverse than the Marty Stu writing Kawahara indulges in.

I think it's funny a lot of these morons harp on the anime that get picked up for second seasons, but their own picks don't. Multiple seasons only happen when a show does well.

Also, keep virtue signaling over Goblin Slayer gents. It's also not that great (and the controversy was only the first ep, really), but you are driving people to watch it the more indignant you get over its surprise success.

I find myself reading more and more manhua/manhwa as time progresses. Sure a lot of the wuxia series out there are filled with Gary Stews but they're a good read and update frequently. Only Mary Sue one I've been reading has been Feng Ni Tian Xia. When it comes to Japanese manga I find myself dropping more and more series as rape becomes a focal point in them for no reason other than to add rape fiction to it. I'm amazed these fake fans on Youtube never mention that. (They're probably into it)

I've watched and read the LNs and to be perfectly honest, it isn't that great. There's always a focus on what treatments female adventurers get by the goblins, in. Every. Chapter. For the exception of interludes.
My guess is that Kumo Kagyu simply is a "bad end" fetishist (I don't know what's the name of that kink, feel free to enlighten me) and simply had the writing skills to write several books.
He said in the first LN that he is a huge D&D fan and wanted to know how it would be if an adventurer were to only slay the weakest of monsters : Goblins.

He's clearly not an old fan of D&D back in the 70s and early 80s, goblins would wreck your shit if they came in numbers. Even those fuckers could be used in a meat grinder. Weakest monster you'll find is a gazebo, and only to stupid players.

to quickly chime in on the SAO shit: I personally think SAO was really damn bad in Season 1. All of it. Not "just the Alfheim Arc" i actually found that one less bad because it dropped the pretense of "People might die". The Second season started out hella boring but gradually got better. Third imo dropped a lot but the current airing second half? That's actually really enjoyable.

At this point Goblin Slayer got soft. Honestly I want to see more grimdark with rape to show not just how horrible that act is but also how people would fare against being that would do horrible things to get hard or wet of and how people would utterly merc those sick bastards asses, at this point it's all just soft shit and Goblin Slayer was mediocre at best.

Alright I'm gonna drop a spicy take.
I dump on SAO because it's easy to do so. But the real problems with anime started in the early to mid 2000s with the rise of yaoi/fujoshi and otaku culture. Shitty shows got hyped because of people wanting to fuck characters or imagine them fucking.

And the good shit got slept on because consumers tended to gear towards shit that catered to their short, sexually charged attention spans.

So more shit like that was imported, and it started a cycle of shitty anime going mainstream for face value alone. Gems sometimes slip through the cracks but it always feel like the shit that gets pushed the hardest is so....bland. I can't get into most shit nowadays without feeling like there's something to be desired.

But that's just me.
