Phil's insecurities are off the chain tonight.

Man, I fucking loved those strategy guides. Any time I see one pop up in a goodwill or whatever thrift store we poke through, I snag it. The cool artwork, the extra text for various characters, and the occasional "Holy shit, I didn't realize that was there" revelation are always welcome. But paying full price for those when they initially released? Did this nibba not know what gamefaqs was?I’d assume he’s referring to one of the nice Brady Games official strategy guides they put out for every Final fantasy game back in the 90s.

No change. Not writing to file!
....uh, someone pledged $70 to Phil and then immediately dropped it? That's random as fuck.
Maybe they were trying to see what was available on his Patreon?
He couldn’t even be bothered to start an impromptu Genesis Mini or SNES on Switch stream?! Jesus Christ...I turn on a detractor stream and within one minute DSP cursed out PUBG due to having emergency patches tonight, so he has decided to just not play any games.
It wasn't on the schedule. He couldn’t even be bothered to start an impromptu Genesis Mini or SNES on Switch stream?! Jesus Christ...

arcade machines didn't need to patch and that shitty port of super turbo didn't need a patch so phil expects everything to not NEED them and if they're done its to spite himThis is the shit that really annoys me with him, he gets so angry and aggressively insults people because of a patch to improve the game. He’s so fucking toxic, he acts like the devs did this to personally spite him
Also this life long gamer can’t even attempt to play another game that’s not on his schedule, I’ve never seen another stream just turn into a sausage because one game was down...but he loves gaming! 3 people that only show up for Minecraft might miss the stream if he does it unscheduled!
Absolutely 100% pathetic

correct me if im wrong but wouldn't that be a new board for the machine? im just talking about a typical game patchSoul Calibur 2 would have a word with him. Even Namco admitted they made Nightmare too OP in their arcade release, and actually released a newer version that balanced him out... a bit... was still a fucking monster.

Fixed menu
fixed music
netcode fix
etc
the kicker here is HE CAN.. the old uploader is still there, and the edit options are still there, he's just too lazy to click a box, or a pencil instead of a button that says in giant font he can see what they do...he spent a good 10-15 minutes ranting about how he's not allowed to copy-paste everything for his videos anymore and can't be lazy.
thats pretty interesting but i doubt phil ever had to deal with these patches unless im wrong againI knew what you were talking about, but in the early 2000's, arcades were starting to have an internet presence. Certain games would be able to connect to the publisher and aside from displaying local high scores, they'd display world wide high scores and such. That's also the time when a lot of arcade devices were becoming standardized and modular as opposed to unique PCBs.
Even today, machines are all connected to the internet and the publisher can push updates and such without having to issue a new board. In Japan, machines are region locked and must be able to connect via Japanese IP or won't boot up; DRM isn't just on consoles/PCs.
why else would he be on his top recommended when he did his retrospective before? lolTevin did a back in time stream last night and watched a video of Phil in 2011 going through his strategy guides. He discussed the FFVI guide and mentioned how rare it was.
Today, DSP mentions said strategy guide. This nigger watches Tevin streams.
Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 had patches as well, mostly for bug fixes.Soul Calibur 2 would have a word with him. Even Namco admitted they made Nightmare too OP in their arcade release, and actually released a newer version that balanced him out... a bit... was still a fucking monster.

From what I've read, there actually is a speed issue because the original programming of the SF2 based games used some weird timing trick that is difficult/impossible to reproduce without cycle accurate emulation. He never did, he may have tried other games from time to time; but if he was serious about dropping quarters, he stuck to Street Fighter.
As an aside, as I don't have any of the SF collections. If there really is a speed issue between what he feels and what he sees, just discount any of his short-comings, just for this. If there is a speed problem; it's in his TV. Because modern day TVs can have lag, and some games have a setting where you can help offset it. So if there really is a speed issue, he'd need a CRT.
