Is Jackass still a cultural phenomenon that people still want to see some guys roll down the street in a shopping cart trying to hit against something? Or even jump off the roof to land in a pool with some random objects?

Jackass is back!
On Wednesday, Paramount announced that a fourth movie based off of the MTV stunt series of the same name will return to theaters, Deadline reported.

The new film is set to hit the big screen on March 5, 2021, however, no additional details — including an official title — have been released.

Created by Johnny Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeff Tremaine, the reality series originally aired on MTV in 2000 and the cast put out the first Jackass feature film in 2002. Tremaine directed the first installment, Jackass: The Movie, as well as Jackass Number Two in 2006 and Jackass 3D in 2010.

According to Deadline, the Jackass franchise — which later went on to include spinoffs like Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa — has earned over $335 million.

Should the original cast reunite for the fourth film, it will mark their first time working together since the death of veteran daredevil Ryan Dunn, who was killed in a car crash in 2011.

Dunn, who was famous for his fearless off-the-wall stunts on Jackass, was only 34.

“He made us all laugh and had the tireless enthusiastic approach to life of your favorite middle school friend,” MTV said in a statement at the time. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Ryan s family and friends. The Jackass brotherhood will never be the same.”

After the news broke, Knoxville tweeted, “Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.”

Jackass cast members have previously expressed interest in returning for a fourth film, including performer Steve “Steve-O” Glover.

“We’re approaching the 20th anniversary of when Jackass first appeared on MTV, and I do know that there’s an urge, an idea to commemorate that anniversary in some way,” he told Loudwire in July.

Jackass 4 will make its debut in theaters on March 5, 2021.

Ohh... the memories. I almost pucked when steve-o drunk fatties sweat. 10 out of 10. I hope they add trump, race and feminism jokes for good measure.

That's cool and all but isn't the concept of Jackass in itself unnecessary now with the internet? Just put on your search bar "idiot gets hurt" and you will get tons of videos, how will this movie compete with that?
And in more important matters: Who will die this time?

I approve of this.

Jackass was some funny shit, yeah it was dumb, but it's literally titled "Jackass", no one ever tried to say it was otherwise, sometimes funny is just funny.
i really wanna dig out my boxset and burned CKY dvds. wildboys just didn't scratch that itch although hearing about the behind the scenes problems was almost worth it. Plus manny puig is god.

This is either going to star a bunch of new 19 year olds which I have no nostalgic connection to, and therefore don't give a shit about, or a bunch of broke down 40 year old drug addicts, which are unlikely to be fun to watch fall down the stairs because of all the secondhand embarrassment you'll feel for them.

Either way I'm completely uninterested. I guess Johnny Knoxville needs money because his serious Hollywood career didn't pan out.

I loved Jackass and the whole crew but have very little faith in this. I had a DVD collection of the best stuff bits from every season and watched it a lot of times over as well as the regular broadcast episodes. The whole thing has really run its course though so I don't know. The commentary tracks they did for the movies and dvds were also very solid, just a bunch of them sitting around shooting the shit, drinking and joking around about the bits.

I think Dunn's death was a good cut-off point for the crew, and I thought that much was obvious to everyone else. A lot of us rewatched Jackass and Viva la Bam after the drunken car wreck and felt some kind of closure as that credit sequence played at the end of 3D. Fucking eerily uncanny shit right there. Just let it stay at rest with Ryan.

That picture of Knoxville with the headline underneath is comedy gold.

Letting Bam Margera have money and the spotlight again would be a disaster and all of his former co-stars know it. Makes me wonder if they'll exclude him, keep his role in the film to a minimum or if they'll actually trot out his half-dead, drug and booze-wrecked carcass in front of the camera in hopes of pushing him over the edge for good and being there to record it. There's no way the dude is physically or mentally functional enough to do the shit he used to, much less cooperate with others to shoot a feature-length film.

Man, look at Knoxville. Got that J.J Abrams look going on.

I REALLY don't think another Jackass is necessary and even relevant; We had our laughs when they were on MTV, when they went to the big screen 3 seperate times, and moved on. That article that describes the cast's troubles nowadays just highlights how this entire thing messed with them in the end, which is pretty fucking depressing when you see them doing the stunts; they looked so joyful and full of life, now they are addicted to painkillers and shit.

I think Knoxville is trying to attain old glory here; he wants to be that younger self again, try to grab that last rush of idiotic, carefree havoc. But everybody is old now; the rowdy bunch they once were is gone.

Again, pretty fucking sad.
