I don't think it should be outlawed, but instead, make people watch something like those Driver Education films where they show gory dead people after crashes. Make them see the results right after surgery, make them see videos of the dilation process, include footage of what happens when it goes wrong, stitches pop, etc. And then if they still insist on going through it, it's on them.

I think they ought to go back to the rational procedure where there was significant gatekeeping before moving on to it, and where mutilating healthy, functional organs would be the absolute last resort rather than something people were immediately shoved into to fund these butcher mills currently operating.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sure it would reduce the suicide rate. If you look up detransitioning blogs and videos there are tons of people who regret mangling their bodies, and many women whose voices are permanently altered from taking testosterone and now sound like they have permanent laryngitis. Plus undesirable facial and body hair. What other drastic medical procedure can you undergo just because you feel like it? Even for breast implants (in first world countries) there are some limits set. It isn't reasonable to let people without medical knowledge just walk in and demand life altering surgery.

True, but I think Chris might be one of the few outliers given the other signs of possible gender dysphoria he displayed all throughout his youth. If he were born five or ten years later and didn't have Bob as a father figure, he probably would've trooned out a lot earlier in life than he did.

The AGP/lesbian fetish angle doesn't really work in Chris's case. I could understand why people thought that back when he first trooned out in 2014. Hell, I was one of those people who thought that. Now he's asexual and impotent and despite that, is even more committed to his gender identity than ever.

A lot of his overt sexual behavior back in the 2000's was partly because of his delayed mental development. Chris didn't even express any noticeable interest in sex at all until he was sixteen. He was in his twenties when he was undergoing the "horny teenager" phase most people experience in their teens. Then the trolls got involved and made things worse.

Chris has always hated being a male and even in the Classic era, he was a raging misandrist and didn't have any masculine interests outside of some children's entertainment from his younger days like Sonic and TMNT. Even then, his favorite of the Ninja Turtles is the female one that everyone else hated.

I think it's a combination of his autism and Bob's parenting style. In the many threads about parents who troon out their kids, there's been links to autism: over half of the children referred to the UK Tavistock gender identity clinic had an autism spectrum condition or autistic traits. Autistic kids often get upset when they're made to wear certain clothes, because they're more sensitive to the textures and it irritates them. But a parent sees a girl tearing off a scratchy lace dress and wanting to wear sweatpants, or a boy crying when he gets his hair cut (because he doesn't like the barber in his personal space) and they assume it's a gender thing. Autistic kids often don't fit in with their peer group either and make friends with kids much younger or older than them or of the opposite sex, like Chris and his Gal Pals. Autistics don't understand or absorb subtle social messages or expectations, so Chris would've just played with or liked whatever toys or characters he pleased, and not realised they were "for girls".

Add to that Bob's attitudes to gender roles and Chris's church being one of the few social spaces he had. Chris being accepted as just an awkward, effeminate boy was out of the question. He'd had it drummed into him to Stay Straight, and by extension, masculine. Remember how Bob and Barb reacted to him during the Tomgirl saga. So the only way he could proudly keep all his Sailor Moon plastic crap and as a bonus, explain away all his mental health problems, was to transition. I think Chris is a misguided, autistic tomgirl.

I'll make this my last word on the matter, as I don't think that either of us are going to change each other's views, but the important difference is one of dedication. Rightly or wrongly, deludedly or not, a genuine transsexual needs to spend years pondering over whether or not transitioning is really the best way forward for them. They have prolonged discussions for a good period of time with psychotherapists to ensure that it is the right decision for them, rather than some vapid fashion statement. If they then decide that it still is their best option, then there's all the fun of intensive hormone therapy and invasive surgery to look forward to, and without even the assurance that they'll even look conventionally good at the end of it all. Agree with them or not, I can at least respect someone who thinks about that carefully and then still decides to go ahead. Not all transsexuals are poseurs.

Gender Dysphoria is an anxiety disorder that should never be treated with cosmetic surgery. No amount of gate keeping or imaginary criteria makes one man more woman than the next. They're all still just men in dresses. Anyone pursuing elective surgeries is making a "vapid fashion statement" as those surgeries aren't necessary.

He's seen a gender psychologist who affirmed to him that he's transgender. He's on hormone therapy.
