I’d never seen the St Patty’s Day video, although I did watch the bachelorette one. Similar tone but this one was more heartbreaking because the wasn’t in a crowded place-she should have been comfortable in a friends home.
Her lack of understanding of social norms is truly astounding. She’s too loud, she sticks cameras in people’s faces, misses clues that they want her to stop; she’s insulting, she doesn’t listen and only talks, and is ignorant of all of it. At one point, where the girls are outside for a smoke break and they are talking about some guy who was annoying them, Chantel clearly had zero idea of what they were talking about, yet instead of being quiet and listening or asking questions, she just steamrolled over everybody with her tee heeing, once laughing so loudly and inappropriately she even said “sorry” but then continued.
I have no doubt she felt very uncomfortable, but was sure nobody noticed. She was probably thinking all these people were impressed by YouTube and thought her funny. She was so out of place an autistic person could tell what was going on.
I suspect these women may have been the really kind girls in high school who take the weird, bullied, unloved girl and sympathetically try to help her fit in. But Chantel can never fit in. The fact that she watched back footage of that party, edited it, and put it online proves she has no understanding of how much it reveals about herself.
