Illnesses and other forms of disadvantages are a form of victimhood currency, that a person can hoard and collect to allow them to be excused from responsibility for things. It might be just me being a boomer, but why in the fuck do people put shit like they have Crohn's in their bios? I seriously can't understand why someone would want others to know stuff like that. I'm talking someone mentioning a thing that's not obvious. I get mentioning something like you had an amputation, so you wear a prosthetic, and then only if you're making public appearances, but this shit?
Had to look up who Corina was because I sure as hell don't know who she is.

I'll say this. If she has CD induced arthritis flared to the point where she struggles to use a game controller, I assure you she is tweeting from a hospital bed, doubled over in a fetal position and mainlining a Remicade and morphine cocktail. That is some WAYYY advanced AND RARE CD. So she either has CD and is exaggerating her condition A LOT, or she read Web MD for a symptom list and did a self insert for 'worst case scenarios"

I spent about 10 seconds pondering this, and I came up with an answer: the reason I don't understand this mindset is because I already know what working past things that fuck up one's life feels like. No doubt that's the same for many of us here. Whatever tiny amount of feelz one might receive from e-asspats fucking pales in comparison to overcoming some shit that's been impeding you, big or small, long or short. That stuff is second only to winning fights in how satisfying it is on a visceral, primal level.Illnesses and other forms of disadvantages are a form of victimhood currency, that a person can hoard and collect to allow them to be excused from responsibility for things.

They have never known overcoming adversity or a feeling of accomplishment. Between helicopter/bulldozer parents, participation trophies and "You're special" as the only thing guiding their lives, they neverr had anything to overcome. And their fuckups were praised as 'unique' and of course, 'special.'I spent about 10 seconds pondering this, and I came up with an answer: the reason I don't understand this mindset is because I already know what working past things that fuck up one's life feels like. Participation trophies murdered sports and the competitive spirit kids used to have. The movement has been going on for decades now and in my opinion spawned the first wave of SJW-minded slugs. Even an utterly benign """sport""" like bowling wasn't safe from that shit. My team in middle school won 1st place and a trophy our first year - but the next year, EVERYONE got a fucking tiny pathetic little trophy. Immediately, the whole game became nothing more than an after school daycare activity where we fucked around eating the whole time and just wanted to finish our games quickly so we could go to the bowling alley's arcade. They have never known overcoming adversity or a feeling of accomplishment. I'm older than most of the young whipper snappers here so I was fortunate to grow up (Up Hill! Both Ways!) in a time of two parent families, backyard full tackle football and bicycles without full motocross riding gear to ride them to the mailbox (And we were damn glad to do it!) What 'modern parenting' and the associated snowflake bullshit has done to childhood should be enshrined in law as child abuse.Participation trophies murdered sports and the competitive spirit kids used to have. I would disagree, cause the "you're special/unique" it was more so a point of "Appreciate what you are, and accept the faults you have" type of thing. It's a case of trying to remove/mitigate the peer pressure and comparing oneself to others. Which is a self-destructive trait, it does nothing but devalue your own accomplishments despite the faults you have to work with. It's a lesson to "focus more on your own accomplishments and do not let the accomplish of others overshadow yours."They have never known overcoming adversity or a feeling of accomplishment. No, the issue here, is that these people are an example of individuals who haven't gotten the right amount of care and attention, thus will resort to doing anything to get people to pay attention to them. It's truly a quite sad and pathetic aspect. That well, I can't think on how one would go to fix it.

"Ron is a better man; he got help. All Vic had to do was crawl in a hole and just die instead of wrestling his accusers in court."
Fair enough, I will reveal this detail that it did work with me. So I guess there is that. So about 75% of "good idea on paper, but poor turn out in practice" and 25% or so that had the intended result of effect. I understand if I'm being a bit generous there.Disagree.
While I would agree that the INTENT of the "Special" thing was as you say, thats not remotely how it played out in reality. It instantly was used to bubblewrap kids against real world experience.
Indeed, they havent gotten the right level/kind of care and attention...thus my examples. And I don't think it can be fixed. We are left with a generation plus of people that need their own island.
Voiced idol trash (finish Berserk, Kentaro), is 2nd Tatsumaki in the most abyssmal anime of the year, voiced some cat girl in Sailor Moon that I don't remember ever existing (I've watched Sailor Moon 5 times through, for clarification), and was the main character in a short called Whore. I'm trying to figure out if I'm having a fever dream while looking at her resume, this is as much of a literal who as you can get.Had to look up who Corina was because I sure as hell don't know who she is.
