Since FactsAreUseless they've had this weird idea that the problem with the forum is that not enough people are being banned and too many wrong things are being said. It's why they closed GBS for being too problematic. It's why FYAD is targeted now. People don't like what they are reading so the forums are dying. They need to remove the things people don't like reading.

For some reason it's completely impossible for people there to realize there will always be something that someone wants removed. Former allies like FactsAreUseless, who spent years of his life catering to these people removing countless threads and posters that offended them, is now cancelled for his support of FYAD. He has tens of thousands of posts apologizing to, agreeing with and enabling these people. All of his virtue signaling and banning was for naught.

When the forum finally dies of a thousand cuts they'll blame a change in moderator in one subforum seven years ago and not the woke purge campaign that's banned 5,000+ active posters. The real problem is that some photoshops were made in bad taste and not that the permatriggered and their pet administrators are straight deleting thoughts, ideas, arguments, opinions and people by the thousands. These things deserved to be deleted you see. They were all nazis/racists/bigots/sexists/transphobes/misogynists/chuds/fascists/conservatives/ableist/etc/etc/etc.

It's just a question of whether the wrong person gets the money, or somebody steals from the fund.

Funny, troons are cancer to any community they infiltrate. I'm not saying that as a cheap joke, I mean they are literally comparable to untreated metastatic tumors.

Stage 0: Just a few strange users, nothing noticeable

Stage 1: The community's local troon community begins to complain to the mods about worrisome language used by other participants in the community. Recognizing the danger at this stage leads to easy treatment (removal) with minor or no complications. Much comparable to usage of homeopathy, sometimes the community will think appeasing them will make everything better for everyone.

Stage 2: The troon complaints have grown and are now demanding bans and rule implementations in greater quantities; troons begin entering different segments/pages/boards to bring increased awareness to their attention.

Stage 3: The situation has grown to the point where troons insist they will not feel safe until they have control/infiltration of moderation and administration, treatment is desperately needed, least the disease will enter....

Stage 4: Troons have infiltrated the moderation, community is plunged into chaos as a storm of bans overwhelms the platform. Death often follows once the troons begin to turn on one another, though survival is sometimes possible (ex. NeoGAF)

now that the word 'nazi' has lost its effectiveness, 'terf' is being used for basically the same purpose (though more often against women), and it goes beyond even something as minor as believing transwomen have an unfair advantage in women's sports

I'm inclined to believe that a non-trivial amount of TGRS posters have money, even though it's also full of poor asses like KM who seem to be in constant financial trouble no matter how much they donate.

They've run campaigns in the past which have raised considerable amounts fast, with donations in both the hundreds and the thousands.

KM has been begging for almost 3 years now, with the approval of Lowtax and the other admins. Regular posters begging is still frowned upon, though.

I think the majority of Lowtax's patreon people are 'trans allies' and are willing to look past a whole lot of the troon shenanigans because of it. But constantly capitulating to them is just going to make the forum worse and worse and worse.

and unfortunately for him, he can't really weather the hit to his short term finances that would come with telling them to fuck off, they would make a lot of noise and get people to drop their donations. Even if he did everything right, I'm not sure it would even recover enough users in the long-term to have made it worth it.

I think that you're correct in that the word is used that way far more often than it is to talk about people that are actually TERFs, but I'm inclined to believe a person who unironically links to "terfisaslur.com" is probably an actual TERF.
