Corporations pay her (and other trolls) to harass them in a simulated environment. The rumor is they also offer a service to pay their trolls to attack people performing social media "attacks" on a company -- i.e., consoomers who don't know their place -- in order to disrupt them and cause them to react, allowing the company to either claim the people attacking them are "alt-right trolls" or to allow false flagging to break down "big names" in movements.

First of all, Ren would probably know a lot about PetCo since she was confused for some aquatic creature and grew up there.

Yep. That's why I don't get comicsgate or any other gate. Each of these corporations are getting bad data from social media, the best way to do it is don't buy comics. Hell, save the money, buy stock and then tell them directly "shut off the social media."
I believe they are claiming that he didn't have grades to get into a better one.

Comicsgate was started by well intentioned but naive people that really didn't understand what was really going on. They thought they COULD reform a co-opted system. Once they realized that the system had no intention of being reformed and that it held all the cards, they understood that mainstream comics were a lost cause and set out to build their own system. But now they are seeing that the mainstream isn't going to sit back and die in peace. They (the mainstream comic companies) are a well connected propaganda outlet that will operate as a loss leader with other peoples money regardless if they actually sell books. The agenda is what matters and of course, it's a political one.

Renfamous showed up in Weeb Wars somewhere in the timeline of the fake swatting and the first few vids of Nick getting involved in the drama. After Comicsgate cows TUG and YellowFlash took advantage of the transgender rules of Twitter to severely disrupt her gay-ops, she crawled back in her hole, and started block botting like the cowardly seacow she is. I also think she was flagged by the Alphabet Sped Mafia, which also explains her four permabans fighting for FUNi and RoosterTeeth.
Now its a new year and most of the Vicstans who'd flag her have been blockbotted, thus she's back.

And that timing speaks directly to the agenda. In order for 'Woke" and it's associated BS to work on the masses, the masses cant be allowed to escape it. Comics and Anime fans are often the same people or at bare minimum, run in the same circles. If you set the wayback machine a bit, you'll note that Ren's career as a comic creator began at the same time her BFF hugfest with Joe Quesada of Marvel Comics came to light.
She 'intersectionalized' KV and anti-comicsgate. And now that Comicsgate is topping the Indegogo sales charts...dominating them actually, and Vic's appeal is going through, she needs to re rally the troops that fell away in the downtime.
Now she certainly isn't doing that out of the 'goodness' of her heart. So she's doing it FOR someone. She just thinks everyone is as stupid as the people she's able to manipulate.
