God the cognitive dissonance these people have fucking amazes me to this day I tell you. How do you not look at this comic and not think that the punch line is that the purple haired bitch is indeed a bitch. Like there was no way of making the new guy look antagonistic in this comic. He designed him so that he looks like a dumbass skin head, but he comes off as a lovable slow goofball like Forrest Gump, and its only the expression the new guy has in the second panel that it even hints that he is "in the wrong". It just comes off as elitist towards your fellow worker, especially if he's a new guy and under experienced. It makes people sympathize with the dude because we all had shitty bosses before.

But you know what's funny? Imagine if the artist went the other direction and made him more douchey, and in a higher position. But even then, it'll come off as the purple hair looking bratty, especially since she is browsing twitter on the job. It'll be like Jimmy Neutron and Skeeter, and we know how meme culture ended up remembering that dynamic. Speaking of, literally no one making fun of Mallorie is even taking notice that he is trans unless mentioned by other people directly. So its not like people are disposed to hate this comic because of "transphobia", in fact this behavior is universally shitty. Holy fuck at least Ben Garrison at least makes people he hates look ridiculous in his comics.

This is one of those situations where you have the option to ride the wave of something you accidentally created, like Shen with the "bike cuck" meme, and turn out better for it, or just turn into a piece of shit. Jess appears to be choosing the latter option.
